Z Appreciation Thread
No turnovers, 3 steals, 9 clutch points. Only one personal foul while hounding their guards.
When Wagner was out, he took over and got us to that 10 point lead. That driving layup and dish to Robinson got us our cushion, which we never relinqueshed.
Here's to the Floor General!!!

But I would have given Z the MOP. He was a difference-maker. His ball-handling was incredible. Defense was outstanding. Big shots and big layups at big moments. Incredible performance over four games.

Great ball control

Fantastic game from him. They hounded him and blocked his shot and he stayed in control the whole night. (We'll talk about FTs another night ;)

charles matthews appreciation threads? there were 3 up at one time, think they might go bye-bye.
but yeah, Z was fantastic. about the only fault was missing that one-and-one with about 2 minutes left. otherwise, smart, fast, all of that.

... given how the TBS crew were salivating over the blocks by FSU early, I'd like to think that Z was just baiting them into thinking they had his number, when it was he that had theirs.

This is what I kept wondering?
I know their press stopped Michigan from getting into the offensive sets rigtht away, but I can't remember the press causing an actual turnover. I'm sure there was one or two I'm forgetting, but Z and MAAR were fantastic at getting the ball and bringing it up the court.
March 24th, 2018 at 11:53 PM ^
I have total confidence whenever he handles the ball. Michigan has just two great guards. MAAR is outstanding. But we all wondered who would replace Walton, and Z has more than answered that question. He is the most dynamic defender at his size that I've ever seen. He has a demeanor and level of poise way beyond his years.
When he conquers his foul-shooting issues, he will become a complete player. But the great thing is, we have two more years to appreciate his talent and skill development under coach Beilein.

8 postseason games, 8 absolutely destroyed point guards. Well, maybe 7 and an extremely inefficient but good Rob Grey.

So glad he is on our team! I would hate to face him for the next two years in the BIg10!

Score, because you need to do that to be recognized as a great defender. See also Kris Draper's Selke Trophy.

The defense today all around was N-A-S-T-Y. I was amazed. I've never seen Michigan play defense so well
March 25th, 2018 at 12:30 AM ^
from Z tonight was when he stole the ball from the FSU player's arms. I'll take that! I don't think I've ever seen a player do that without a foul.
