| 4 weeks 5 hours ago | yeah, nothing wrong with the duderstadt |
he was a leader in implementing some pretty significant policies with impact well beyond michigan. point was he was somebody who lived in ann arbor and reported to work every day at u-m; and although compelling, wasn't exactly the headline fodder that the commencement-speaker arms race seems to demand. |
| 4 weeks 6 hours ago | i had no idea |
who spoke at my commencement, so i googled it. turns out it was james duderstadt -- president of the university. i guess they couldn't even get anyone to come speak. maybe that's why i didn't bother going, though i don't really remember. |

but feel compelled to register my agreement with this. That anticipation, excitement and tension before kickoff, or at crucial moments in the game, is a beautiful thing that shouldn't have to compete with, and definitely doesn't need to be "augmented" by, some idiot at the controls of a big-ass PA system. The grandiosity of the event, captured so effectively by Keith Jackson, is cheapened by all that gimmicky crap. But, the main thing to be taken from that video is just how great it was to have Keith Jackson in the booth, and how much he is missed on fall Saturdays. |
| 8 weeks 2 days ago | ha, was just going to post that |
that's how an emmy-winning veteran news anchor does it. |
| 9 weeks 6 hours ago | Back in the day, I'd watch |
Back in the day, I'd watch any game being called by Summerall/Madden. These days, I hardly watch any NFL games at all. I've missed that pair (and Keith Jackson on Saturdays) for years. RIP, Pat. |
| 9 weeks 3 days ago | happy for Trey |
and thrilled that the BBall program is relevant and drawing top talent, but find myself rather uncomfortable with that characterization. |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | what hurts is |
two of trey's fouls were total phantom calls. that very much affected his play at the end of the game (not to mention his absence for most of the first half). |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | i dunno |
1989 glen rice, loy vaught, terry mills, rumeal robinson, sean higgins.... 1992... you know who 2012/13...again, you know who. there will be others to come. |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | an all-time great basketball |
an all-time great basketball play goes in the books as a foul. shame. |
| 10 weeks 1 day ago | that trey block was an |
that trey block was an all-time great play. shame that it went down called as a foul. weird how more fouls were called on louisville (justifiably), but the ones called on M affected the game. oh well. cant take anything away from what this team accomplished. |

While it may be a stretch to call Webber a victim, he was far from being the main actor. It was, after all, the Ed Martin scandal. Also, this isn't about celebrating him -- it's about celebrating this year's team. People comparing this to Tressel's triumphal return at the horseshoe last fall (as someone did the other day) are way off base. He won't be getting carried off the court on anybody's shoulders, but it would be cool if he was there cheering when Trey Burke is. |
| 10 weeks 2 days ago | so glad |
coming back for his sophomore year worked out so well for him. Should be a good example to other potential one-and-done players of the kind of development that can happen with another year in Beilein's program. |

the sweet nectar of VICTORY!!! |
| 10 weeks 3 days ago | that's what i was thinking. |
the close game for the night is out of the way, and i'm sick of hearing about this 2-3 zone. time to kill it! |
| 10 weeks 3 days ago | haha |
did greg gumbel just call them the wichita state "stalkers"? i like it... and they're making louisville nervous. |
| 11 weeks 2 days ago | not really a valid comparison |
florida was incidental to the victory today. it was about getting to the final 4 after a too long absence, and we would have probably beaten anybody today. beating florida in the bowl game was gratifying because it was florida (tebow, urban, etc), and carr got a nice send-off with a good victory (against the sec) after an otherwise disappointing season. |
| 11 weeks 4 days ago | per ESPN |
Mitch McGary and Blake Griffin (2009) are the only players in the last 15 seasons with consecutive games of 21+ points and 14+ rebounds in the Men's Basketball Championship. He is just the 6th player since seeding began in 1979 to have two such games in a single Men's Basketball Championship. |
