It's hard to project on youth when I was never in their position and don't know how the dreams of professional football are weighed against current offers and promises, and in Barkley's case whether to stay with Rutgers or decommit.
So yeah, me the internet tough guy with strong words, rabble rabble. That said, I find it incumbent on everyone in the decision-making process to be educated about their choices. So if you take your talents to happy valley, you are not explicitly rebutting decisions that were made by many in that insititution.
It truly grinds my gears when people there, james franklin chief among them, act all sanctimonious in their victimhood when what price have they really paid for what was done? A 5-year ban lifted after two? The naked self-interest of them and the NCAA disgusts me.

Is that seriously what you think you are doing? Honestly dude please tell me, how much anti-pedophelia advocacy do you do outside of self-righteously shitting on Penn State fans? Literally 99.999999% of society and PSU fans think child rape is evil. You aren't making a difference by labeling all PSU fans perverts, you are being a sanctimonious asshole. The only "stand" you are taking is one that you made up in your head. No one thinks child rape is okay. No one who believes the basic facts about the scandal believes Joe Pa is innocent. There is an ongoing pedophelia ring within Hollywood. It is evil and tragic. It doesn't mean if you go to the movies you are a pro-child rape though.
Now you are arbitrarily rationalizing the situation to make it so you don't have to label Barkely a pro-child rape pervert and feel like a prick, even though your time window is arbitrary and Barkley was recruited by Franklin who came in 2012. I've never heard the media ask Saquon his opinion of Joe Pa, have you? What total bullshit! We must demand to know the truth! Is Saquon a child-rape promoting pervert? Why does the media give him a free pass? /s

I'm sorry, but if you think PSU has learned you need look no farther than the fact that there is a Paterno on their board of trustees. Sandusky didn't happen in a vacuum and the NCAA completely failed to hammer a valuable lesson home. There are many in Happy Valley who still think Paterno didn't do anything wrong. Why would anyone send their son or daughter to that program?
October 29th, 2017 at 4:11 PM ^
That child rape is evil? That's obvious. That the coverup was evil? That's obvious too. That coaches are not infallible? You aren't going to ever convince anyone of that. If it came out tomorrow that Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowdon, Bo, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, or any other legendary coach was involved in something this awful the fans would try to defend them anyway. You could shut down all of PSU and salt the earth and it wouldn't change anything. I would hope that athletic directors and University Presidents across the country don't need PSU to be shut down to realize that covering up child rape is evil. No one should have to think "Hmm, I would normally try to cover this up, but geez look what happened to Penn State! l don't want my football program to be shut down so I better report it!"
As much as we like to think "it couldn't happen here", PSU fans thought the same thing. Jay Paterno was elected to the BoT by money and delusional fans. But it was the BoT that commissioned the Freeh report in the first place and they got rid of everyone involved in the coverup. I don't think the NCAA should have lightened the punishment either but none of the fans had control over the decision anyway so at this point you are just being sanctimonious. Literally no one thinks child rape isn't evil or covering it up isn't evil. You aren't some noble crusader for justice by shitting all over PSU fans who have no control over the situation and are doing what any other fanbase would do. I mean for fuck's sake can you even begin to imagine what would happen if this shit went down at OSU or Bama? You could burn the entire state of Pennsylvania to the ground and it wouldn't change the way OSU fans would react if it came out tomorrow that Urban Meyer was involved in a similar scandal. OSU had a scummy head coach who got fired after the media got wind of his shenanigans so they went out and got another scummy head coach.

Al Lord dropped out of the election shortly after his email surfaced, so he's gone.
I dislike Franklin for lots of reasons but the outrage over his comments is not really necessarily. Do you honestly think he is advocating child rape? His words were fucking stupid and distasteful. It remains the case that if Franklin is successful the fans will feel less of a need to defend Joe Pa. That's just how it is and there's nothing unique about PSU's fanbase that makes it this way. People will go to outrageous extremes to hold onto something they feel they have lost.
Jay Paterno is a piece of shit who has maintained his power with money and delusional fans. There is nothing anyone can do to make him not a piece of shit. He was raised by Joe Pa after all.

I think the whole thing is a fucking disgrace, I just don't think there is any fundamental reason it would have been handled all that differently at other places that worship football like OSU or Bama. Therefore when we have rooting interest threads and people come on here and sanctimoniously comment how they are rooting for OSU because they have to "take a stand" against PSU I roll my eyes. You are not any more anti-child rape than 99.999999% of the population is. If you really want to take a stand, go work for an organization that actively promotes anti-pedophelia advocacy but don't act like you are making a difference by shitting all over PSU. There's no fundamental reason this sort of evil thing couldn't have ever happened at OSU, Bama, FSU, etc. We like to believe it could never happen at Michigan but face it, we fans have zero say in what goes on behind the scenes. Fans typically only act in ways that are beneficial to their football team. In the unbelievably awful event that something this horrible did happen at Michigan, people on this blog wouldn't be calling for the University to be burned to the ground. But that's exactly what people are doing in regards to PSU.

It's from that Bud Light commercial. It didn't exist before that to my knowledge. Like "Jake from State Farm" or yelling "GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS" on Wednesdays.

I only remembered as far back as Disney's use of the song. 1960s?
Makes me wonder if Disney ever did anything truly original or just excelled at re-packaging..

Less celebratory than 'huzzah,' more positive and less formal than 'aye?' I'm just putting together some context clues from a commercial. I'm honestly not sure.
