Students vomiting all over South and West Quad. Amazingly, alcohol not involved
Apparently there's a norovirus outbreak going on in South Quad and West Quad. The source of the outbreak is unknown.
So unless it's absolutely necessary, stay the hell out of there. Norovirus ranks pretty high on the "things that make you feel like you're dying" list.

BINGO! Well, mid-90's actually.
I seriously wonder if anyone tracks these things on a dorm by dorm level.

I'm calling this the "Norovirus that saved the MGoBoard" because this thread has been pretty good imo.

The SEC will probably label this a crash diet program that represents an unfair recruiting advantage and blame Harbaugh for it...

Couldn't you also use a bucket?
February 18th, 2016 at 11:05 AM ^
It works for an adult, for a three year old who just wants the pain to stop getting them to use the bucket can be a challenge.

Granted, this was decades ago, but the food in South Quad was shit in 1979-1980. There was a grill in the basement and they made edible hamburgers, but of course you had to pay extra for that.
February 18th, 2016 at 9:37 AM ^
I remember that grill. It's been over 35 years since I set foot in South Quad. I wonder if it still smells the same? They should serve the old quaddie burgers with that melted cheese stuff. It would plug up anything.

Recent grad here (2012), Squad always had decent food, nothing special. I only ate there on weekends when West Quad's dining hall was closed and I couldn't do the burrito bar.
Best food days in general were chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and of course chicken broccoli bake.

Current student.
South Quad was completely remodeled in 2013-2014 and is now the nicest dining hall on campus and one of the nicest in the whole region.
West Quad no longer has a dining hall.
But my freshman year (2012-2013) South Quad was one of the worst.

Come again? West Quad no longer has a dining hall? What's in its place - and what did they do with those angelic soft serve machines?

You couldn't pay me to eat at South Quad then or now. It's been remodeled but I have too many bad, mostly alcohol induced, memories. My daughter is in Mojo now which always was top shelf and looks to be no different now.
The story now is that many rooms were taken off the dorm hall lottery a couple weeks ago because Markley is being remodeled(?) next year. Anyway many of her friends who want to be on Central Campus and are not Engineers, Architects, etc. are being "forced" to live on North Campus including the married housing places.
February 18th, 2016 at 6:26 PM ^
Two followups:
1.) MOJO dining hall is recently renovated, but the food is terrible and it is is always dirty.
2.) Michigan housing completely screwed over returning Freshmen this year. They didn't tell any of the Freshmen that Markley was being renovated, and after the first day of three days of housing sign-up all the rooms on central were gone, and halfway through day two every single room everywhere had been taken. So thousands of students are scrambling to find housing.

Somebody compared noro to mono. No, it's worse than noro, it's worse than mono.
Try having them at the SAME FXXXXXX TIME!
And of course, it's name is NONO.

One of my immune suppressed patients just called about this... she lives in one of the quads. My prescription: GET OUT OF THERE NOW!
February 18th, 2016 at 10:19 AM ^
Agreed. If it were my kids in there, I'd spring for the hotel. Or send them to bunk at my aunt's. This sounds horrible.
