'16 Signing Day Depth Chart
Notes.
- Odds say we're going to lose a RS Sr. that could actually contribute this year - not sure who, but it wouldn't shock me.
- I've got Jeremy Clark as the first CB or S off the bench.
- I have no idea what to do with the LBs. I tried to break it out to natual LBs, Big LBs, and then Peppers' NB spot.
- I broke out the TEs - You've got Butt's spot then Hill and Wheatley replacing AJ Williams' spot. I've still got Wheatley as a TE for now.
- I haven't updated this since after the OSU game...please be gentle, I'll make changes as always

Don't think it'll matter, there will be plenty of snaps if he's the primary backup to both Hurst and Wormley.
I think Hurst is just scratching the surface as well. Either way, because those 3...we have a DOMINANT rotation at those positions.
February 3rd, 2016 at 7:49 PM ^
Hurst is definitely on the rise. He just tweeted today a pic of the scale showing he's 290 now. Credited S&C coach for it so presumably he's stacking on some muscle.

I was more interested in Ryan Glasgow being above Bryan Mone on the depth chart. As much as I love that family, I don't think that is happening.
February 4th, 2016 at 2:18 AM ^
I'm not sure if anyone wants to hear this (or will ever see this given how old this thread is now), but Glasgow was the MVP of our defense. Not JD, not Jabrill. Ryan Glasgow. Not only was he a dominant player all year, but as soon as he went out our great strength became our glaring weakness on D. We know nothing about Mone other preseason hype (which Bolden generated the most of every year and we saw how that worked out). We have no idea how well his ability to use leverage at his size is, we have no idea what his in game abilities are. Ryan Glasgow was as good as they make them as far as B1G DT's go last year. I'm not saying Mone wont be a good player one day and good rotation guy next fall, but the idea that he will start over the most dominant player on our defense is crazy.

I have a hard time believing he's better than Clowney was at this stage. Clowney's highlight film was hilarious.

I think Hurst and Wormley are better than anyone S. Carolina had in front of Clowney.
That's kind of my point, it's not that Gary isn't good...it's that Wormley and Hurst are no joke.

February 4th, 2016 at 11:46 AM ^
Gary is also less likely to take a starting spot if the coaches move him around to several positions to see what he can do at each.
February 3rd, 2016 at 5:15 PM ^
Hurst is a solid DT in his own right with a first step 2nd to no one else on the team. Considering we platoon I doubt we'll be able to tell the difference as both will be getting a ton of time
February 3rd, 2016 at 4:49 PM ^
but what numbers will they all be wearing?

where is Walker?
And Kemp is a MLB.

Is on the depth chart already.

A 5th year senior who did well last year?

Then can Nordin punt? Again, you don't have the same guy doing both.
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:16 PM ^
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:28 PM ^
So why was everyone freaking out about David getting redshirted if it's no big deal with Nordin?
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:32 PM ^
Because last year Allen was an unproven walk on.
So David was competing against air in most of our minds and didnt win.
This year there is an incumbant who is established and good.
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:17 PM ^
And we've had it in previous years...other schools do it as well. Where is this notion that you can't do both?
Is it the same for other players? Does Peppers only get to play one position?
I don't understand this rationale. If he's your best kicker and your best punter...why wouldn't you have him do both? It doesn't mean the true freshman sucks...it just means the 5th year senior is better that year.
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:21 PM ^
Wait, have you seriously forgotten Blake O'Neill?
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:59 PM ^
I was referring to Epstein who I mentioned below...my grammar is fucking terrible and I need to slow down and proofread.
February 3rd, 2016 at 10:59 PM ^
Imo, it's silly not to think the jobs are going to be decided in competition.
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:15 PM ^
Hayden Epstein was just fine...it seemed to work out pretty darn good for Allen last year.
What is your reason you don't want someone doing both?
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:22 PM ^
It's a different action and practicing both means more risk of injury, and less chance of excelling at either. Allen only had to punt in one game, where he barely had to punt at all, and I wouldn't say he did pretty darn good at it. He didn't do anything terrible, but he wasn't he just booming it the couple of times he did punt?
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:23 PM ^
All Allen did was punt in practice? And then this past year...all he did was kick? And only in the bowl prep he did both?
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:27 PM ^
Certainly primarily.
February 3rd, 2016 at 7:02 PM ^
Well, as someone who's seen both practice and warm-ups...you're wrong.
Many guys often do both.
You think if kickers have time to make YouTube videos of kicking from the top of football stadiums and crazy stuff that they don't have enough time to perfect the "opposite craft" in kicking or punting.
I see it happen every year, we've had it happen at Michigan. I mentioned Epstein, didn't Adam Finley do both as well?
It's not like kicking and playing DT.
February 3rd, 2016 at 4:52 PM ^
I won't lie. Seeing "Rashan Gary" penciled in on the DL makes me smile.

You aren't the name of the year MVP and then redshirt.

February 3rd, 2016 at 6:18 PM ^
So I don't even know if he plays offense...
I also think McDoom and Johnson are better players right now, Evans played RB in high school, didn't he? He's be learning the slot position.
February 3rd, 2016 at 7:35 PM ^
February 3rd, 2016 at 4:58 PM ^
February 3rd, 2016 at 5:06 PM ^
He's not. He reiterated today that he was recruited as a RB. "I'm not a fullback".
February 3rd, 2016 at 5:27 PM ^
February 3rd, 2016 at 6:20 PM ^
You're right...so did Shallman, and he's only played RB to this point in his career. I have him finally making the switch THIS year because it's clear he's not going to get any run at RB and because we just lost both of our FBs and we're in desperate need of players at that position.
But Shallman has only played RB to this point...so I think you just proved the opposite point.
