nights a week. Think I will have a glass of Glenmorangie now; you got me in the mood.

that end in "Y".
Pricey red wine though, not high quantities.

I used to drink every day. Went through a gallon of whiskey a week sometimes. Then I figured I should stop. Six years sober this past summer. Drinking responsibly is the way to go, I wasn't good at it back in the day. At least I never hurt anyone other than my liver.

I am not against other people drinking, it was my bad habit. Other people drinking doesn't bother me. (Except the normal amount that drunk people annoy people who haven't been drinking lol.)
November 6th, 2015 at 12:05 AM ^
Honest question - how long did you keep that up?
November 6th, 2015 at 12:29 AM ^
I really started drinking a lot at 19, and I quit at 29. The last three to five years of it were the worst. The amount I mentioned was the last year or so.

I drink one day of every week. About an ounce of wine. That's it.
On rare occasions, I'll have a flute of champagne for a toast at a wedding or the like.
In general, I don't miss alcohol. For a handful of meals, I'll have a non-alcoholic beer. If I was back in Europe for a significant period of time, I'd probably start drinking more wine again.

Once upon a time it was Friday and Saturday (and often Thursday) to excess, with a drink or two every other night of the week. Now the drinks the other nights have kinda fallen by the wayside and usually it's just Friday OR Saturday not both (once in a while it will still be both), and that will still usually be to excess, I ain't gonna lie. I also have to say I miss my Thirsty Thursdays. But, I'd like to get at least kinda old someday.
And, at the risk of sharing my nerdiness, I've been keeping a weekly log of my drinking since 2013 began. June, May, October, and September, in that descending order, are my heavy months. July, November, and December are moderate. Rest of the year is quiet, with January and August the lamest. Post-holiday recovery for the former, then August is a breather in between the craziest stretch of summer and football season.

Well, it's not a detailed journal or anything. Just an Excel file, I assign the week a number 0-5 based on the number of nights I drank and whether I kept it within reason or not, with a brief note about where/what the occasion was. I used to drink too much so it's important to me to have a "from 30,000 feet" view of my drinking habits.

1) Do you enter the data into excel immediately after drinking?
If so,
2) Did you ever drink this many------->87yhgjsm,.
November 6th, 2015 at 10:27 AM ^
Hahah nah, I usually do it Sunday night or Monday morning. And I've never attempted to enter an actual quantity or even estimate it, it's just, "Could you legitimately call this 'social drinking', or did you get shitfaced?"

Down to about maybe two or three at most. Usually just Saturdays and Tuesdays now. Trying to get into that health zone.

I have tons of respect for you. I guess in my life because all of my friends and my wife like to drink.....I drink as well. To be the only one not drinking around my friends and wife is terrible.
I believe it depends with who you hang out with. Another example is my neighborhood. Everybody has tvs in the garages and we get after the golden suds together.
Some weekends if I know I'm not drinking I think the weekend is terrible. On the other hand, if I have something (especially if I have an overnight sitter) like a big party, a night out on the town to watch games with friends, or a guys weekend I am excited as can be. The next day or two does suck but I consider the fun of drinking and partying worth the pain and suffering.

AB isn't bad simply because it is AB.
I mean, try different Belgians if you wish, but don't go out of your way to avoid AB.

Zero.
I mean, I probably have a couple of glasses of wine or champagne a year just from special events, receptions, etc. But basically zero.

Well, living in Traverse City drinking is mandatory 7 days a week; however I no longer get drunk and have kept passing the cooking sherry around the campfire with Anthony Ciccone to a minimum as of late...

Honestly, since I've embraced the craft beer revolution, I drink on a far higher number of days. However, I drink far fewer beers in the process. One or two Imperial IPAs of some sort a day (a few more on the weekends), as opposed to 15 Bud Lights 3 times a week.

Met up with coworkers at the bar tonight, had one drink. That's mostly the norm for me these days. Haven't been wasted in years. I'm German so if I stay away from liquor and pace myself I can drink a lot without really feeling much. But mostly if i'm home it's one drink max. If i'm out maybe 6 max, but that's not often.
In my college days I was in a fraternity and binge drinking three nights a week minimum.
