Starting lineup at Jerryworld vs. Florida 2017
Combine that with another year of Harbaugh and staff, a remarkably easy nonconference and expected attrition in the conference, and 2016 sets up to be a pretty good year, to say the least.
What I'm interested in though is the year after, since we'd be set up to lose the bulk of the O-line, Butt, and Darboh, along with Smith and Green. What's your best guess for the starters against Florida?
My stab: Oline- Cole (provided he's not kicked inside), Dawson, Kugler, JBB, Newsome WR: Harris, Ways, Canteen in some order outside, Brian Cole in the slot TE: Bunting, Wheatley, Hill at H Back RB: Isaac, FB: Poggi, QB: Assuming Rudock lasts the year, next year's competition winner, probably O'Korn DL: Mo Hurst, Mone, (knocking heavily on wood placeholder) Buck: Marshall LBs: McCray, Furbush, Wangler Secondary: Peppers, Kinnel, Richardon, Watson, Dawson

That seems odd as does having a 3 man DL that includes a Buck. That's a tiny defense. It seems that predictions should be just that. Not something constrained by arbitrary conditions.

You want to know if we are going to be pre-season #1 after our 2016 National Championship. I don't see anything wrong with that.

2 years out is just silly. Too much attrition and you have a whole freshman class that you don't know about.
DE, LB and S are SCARY if you look at what I put above...(however, 2016 look almost unfair).
OL, I'd say Newsome would be starting and Bars may be at RG or C.
Also we may be able to add Rashan Gary, another WR (Corley?), Hill, another TE, and a LB...all of which could be in line for major PT in 2017. Starting two freshman safeties? Good gracious. I suppose you put Peppers and/or Kinnel back there. You'd have to, right?
Highly doubt Speight would still be on the team if he was battling it out for a 5th QB spot on the roster.

Ty Isaac, Stribling, and Peppers in 2017?

I have a few guys that I messed up on as RS SRs and they'll be gone.
I do think Wheatley will be your starting 5T, SDE...but he also could be your starting blocking TE. Bunting and Hill aren't blocking guys. So he's going to play/start regardless, just a matter of which side of the ball.

I would make a few paragraphs out of your post would improve readability.
And yeah like Thad said it's too early. Harbaugh is going to rope some very nice talent in soon which will change alot of these dynamics.

Think you're wrong unless he finishes his degree early. He's also got a redshirt year and I think he is a smart cookie. The extra time in the NCAA under Harbaugh will pay some nice $$$ dividends when it comes around to getting drafting.
October 2nd, 2015 at 10:00 PM ^
but the season is only just begun. He is a year ahead of both due to injury. Hmmm...I don't see anything driving this early entry expectation other than expectations at this point. The Woodson/Berry comparison is a reflection of his upside not his accomplishment.
Peppers is free to make this look silly starting tomorrow. Right now...not so much. Both Woodson and Berry were all conference freshmen and played 3 years
There is no shame or harm in playing 3 years before declaring or finishing out under the current quality coaching and facilities. I don't see what is driving him to declare as a red shirt sophomore.
October 2nd, 2015 at 10:19 PM ^
Peppers won't make you feel silly tomorrow. He will be quietly effective as he has been the past few weeks. (If I am jinxing him I'm fine with that).
Come MSU week, look out!
