a couple of days ago in the Guns of September article.
Hilarious video though and worth another view.

lmfao I was skeptical of how hilarious this would really be, but it was a slow build and definitely delivered.

Totally random, but there's some talk on the other boards (not squashed by the mods) of an unnamed big-time grad transfer QB being interested in UM. Most people think it's Taysom Hill.

I think we might actually have enough QBs. Need to use our scholarships to replenish our lines.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:39 AM ^
No shit. Or see if one of the QB's can play LB next year.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:52 AM ^
Vicious Vic maybe?
September 30th, 2015 at 12:39 PM ^
A 1-year grad transfer doesn't really hinder recruiting from a scholarship number standpoint, I would think. More often than not, that 1-year scholly is going to otherwise go to a walk-on.
September 30th, 2015 at 9:44 AM ^
His playing career is likely done. He's just too fragile. And we have plenty of good QB's next year.

The job belongs to Gentry next year.

would be my guess.

really impressive. Those have never been confirmed though,
September 30th, 2015 at 10:16 AM ^
Yeah, we also heard about Lawrence Marshall, Canteen, and Morris. Camp buzz carries zero weight for me anymore.
September 30th, 2015 at 12:25 PM ^
Yeah I remember hearing about O-line improvement every year in camp from 2009 through 2013....
September 30th, 2015 at 10:19 AM ^
he stated for the transfer was that the Houston QB coach tried to change his throwing mechanics which fucked up his game and led to him being benched.
He has all the physical tools to be an outstanding QB, especially with one year of Harbaugh QB whispering.

I want whomever is the best QB to start for Michigan. I just think it's odd that he regressed so far in one year. There has to be an outside factor(s). Hopefully it's one that Harbaugh can fix.
If not, plenty of other QB's in the stable for 2016.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:51 AM ^
and they changed the offense. Plus as was stated, the QB coach tried to change his mechanics. Then, the head coach who recruited him was fired. Too much change in one year probably. I look at his transfer to Michigan and sitting out one year as a great way for him to do a "reset" while getting much better coaching. So, I'm not concerned at all with what happened at Houston.

Doug Meachum, who was only there one year and left to go to TCU.
Plus Houston's O-line had a lot of problems that year.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:24 AM ^
Highlight tapes and practices often lead to overhype. I watched Houston play several games last year. Maybe I'm just bitter because he lost me money, but he looked bad. I know he had a great first year and I know he has the tools. But I think everyone needs to take a step back with their hype on this guy. I'll be shocked if he's the starter next year. Hell, I'll eat a lemon...
September 30th, 2015 at 10:45 AM ^
Certainly fair to be skeptical, but then what would be your theory as to why he took a giant step back in year 2 at Houston?
September 30th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
All the hype will be around Peters next Fall.

I believe there has been some insider chatter on the pay sites to the effect that O'Korn is by far the best QB on the roster and was so from Day 1 of fall camp.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:15 AM ^
like either the first name Zach or the last name O'Korn so neither can be our quarterback. I was only OK with Rudock when I thought it was Ruddock. The "name test" is one of the most important and reliable indicators in any sport and neither of our QB names for next year are sufficient. We have to bring in other options or take another looks at Shane Morris because he can be called "Sugar" and has a much more awesome name.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:19 AM ^
September 30th, 2015 at 10:25 AM ^
an exception could be made to the anti-Zach policy if we actually had a quarterback named Zach Morris. If we did I would demand he start immediately just on principle.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:23 AM ^
You've gotta ask the really important questions here, man.
September 30th, 2015 at 11:35 AM ^
the "sexy-test" can fool you. Michigan has had some damn fine QBs that have not panned out. /s (not that there is anything wrong with that). Trust me, it is the name test.

Watch his Houston highlights and tell me OKorn wouldn't be a killer in Harbaugh's system. Has every physical tool and proved it a freshmen at the D1 level. He went through a coordinator change after his freshman year which played a role in his coming here. Without that, he'd likely be putting up silly numbers down in Texas.

Number of Good Seasons as a College QB:
O'Korn: 1
Everyone Else*: 0
*Harbaugh excluded from calculations
September 30th, 2015 at 10:52 AM ^
look at his stats
http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/545550/john-o'korn
he was ACC rookie of the year then the next season the new coache(s) broke the Houston offense. He's got some talent. Also Harbaugh wouldn't have accepted him if he didn't see something he liked in the kid.

Nothing is guaranteed, for sure, but when you have a guy who passed for 3,000 yards and 28 TD as a freshman, he's got to be considered the early favorite. I don't know what the deal was last year, but his 2013 season shows that he's got a lot of talent. Didn't they change OCs, or QB coaches?
September 30th, 2015 at 10:05 AM ^
Ummm, I think Jim has made it pretty clear that they're saving Shane's eligibility so he can be our starter the next two years.

...that was pretty much it for BYU.
September 30th, 2015 at 9:50 AM ^
And it was 3 inches from a Pick-6 and being one of our highlights.
If that happened, their highlights would have consisted of whatever their band did at halftime. And I'm not sure they even brought their band.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:09 AM ^
that had to have sucked to have been a BYU fan last Saturday. Absolutely nothing good happenned for them, there were no positive takeaways. It was like us a year ago at Notre Dame, where we were like "Norfleet had that kind of cool end-around on the second play." That was it, that was our play. The Norfleet 12 yard end-around.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:15 AM ^
We literally never even made it into the redzone in that game...and people were still convinced it was just one game and that Hoke was fine...what a difference a year makes...thank you God.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:22 AM ^
I was not one of those people. When ND went up 21-0 over the top of Countess there were major sirens going off in my head. The after-game post title of "Zero Point Zero" was very accurate of the feeling I had after that game. I knew there was no good news to come last year after watching that.
September 30th, 2015 at 10:21 AM ^
....Well, they did technically shut out Michigan for a half. So there's that. I guess.
