OT - Michigan State "the ultimate cow college" according to the New York Times.
There is a nice little fluff piece in the Sunday Times about the dairy on campus at MSU that procudes ice :
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/13/sports/ncaafootball/at-michigan-state…
While describing how Blueberry Pie went from being their most popuar flavor to the least when they added yellow coloring and renamed it Maize-N-Berry they refer to MSU as "the ultimate cow college".
It's actually a nice little article, though I imagine that little reference is going to lead to some hurt feelings in East Lansing.
They mention Babcock Dairy on the Campus of Wisconsin, which makes some good ice cream as well. If you ever find yourself at the Terrace in Madison and you're not in the mood for beer give the ice cream a try.

I'm confused as to why this is thread-worthy...an ice cream shop at a rival school?

Some posters are not here to defend their country or figure they'll be drafted anyway. Others are just here to get in shape, lose a few pounds and learn to be more assertive. Maybe some will earn their stripes.
Gosh I miss John Candy and Warren Oates. A nice summer movie.

Correction: September 13, 2015An earlier version of this article misstated the surname of Michigan State’s quarterback. He is Connor Cook, not Connor Clark.

Absolutely true. I don't understand either why people look down on agriculture as a legitimate area of academic study. Is it because it is too "practical"? If that's your reason, how is it different from engineering? Or is it because people look down on farming as a profession? If that's your reason, maybe you should trying growing all of your own food for awhile.

It's because Sparty is so defensive about it. The same joke used against Penn State falls flat because PSU types don't mind being a "state" school with lots of practical and useful degree programs.

Their dairy, agriculture and vet students are generally modest, small-town, smart kids. It's most of the rest that give them such a bad rep.

Figure I might as well post this here. An old co-worker of mine - an MSU alum - was on a flight to Hong Kong last night. He asked one of the flight attendants if the pilots could radio in and find out the score of the Michigan State/Oregon game. Two hours later, the flight attendant brought him a print out, quite pleased that she could provide this valuable piece of info the passenger had asked for. Except that it was the Michigan/Oregon State score. He posted a picture of it on Facebook, so it was real. He said he didn't have the heart, after the effort, to tell the flight attendant it was the wrong game. All the comments were as you would expect - no respect, etc, etc.

It offers one flavor for every Big Ten team, from mainstays like Ohio State (Buckeye Blitz, which is peanut-butter-flavored) and Northwestern (Wildcat Crunch) to newer members like Maryland (Terrapin Toffee Twirl) and Nebraska (Husker’s Sweet Corn).
I suppose that's another reason to mind Maryland less - toffee twirl actually sounds like it could be pretty good indeed. I wonder if there is a flavor for Rutgers and if is currently under indictment.

Scarlet Knight Delight. It is a cherry cordial ice cream with a brandi cherry swirl with milk chocolate coated maraschino cherries.Much better than the Jersey stereotype flavors I would have come up with.
