A State Fan

Coming from an MSU fan, I don't have a problem with this or painting the diag... during the week of the MSU/UM game. I think it's a fun college prank. But doing it outside of that week is pretty stupid.

Agreed!!!!!!! We as fans need to start playing better on the field before we paint their beloved statue. This "we need to beat them before we do X,Y, and Z" shit needs to stop. We don't have to fucking do anything. Our football team needs to beat them, but that has nothing to do with us. If your worry is that the Michigan fanbase looks bad or hypocritical in certain situations to MSU fans, well guess what-that is going to happen anyway. They hate us with the fire of a thousand couch burnings and winning on the field isn't going to change anything. They are still going to think that whatever we do is awful and we are hypocrites and yada yada. Whether we get dominated on the field means nothing to our spray painting trips, it is just a way to remind everyone that they have beaten us lately. And since MSU fans tell that any chance they get, can we possibly keep that bullshit off our site?

It just looks pathetic when this crap happens and we have nothing to say to them about our team's performance on the field vs them. So a couple bros did some arts and crafts on their statue, we sure got them good! This is akin to the sky writing. It just looks ridiculous when they so clearly have owned us for nearly a decade.

This must be the replica statue.  I believe the original bronze statue was moved indoors due to accumulated damage from cleaning stuff like this off.    Tagging and painting Sparty blue has been going on for decades.  Sparty better get some band members out there to guard it 24/7.  This is on them for neglecting thier duty.

So the letters corrspond to a co-ed professional dental fraternity? Not buying it. Sounds more like some idiot riding the wave of Michigan frat boys are monsters.

Looks like some frat prank. Would not be surprised in the least if it was Spartan students framing 'M' fans to create (yet more) false indignation. I mean the statue has been painted maize and blue before but this is just a hack job.

Destroying private property, ala the ski resort=bad form.

Stoking the fire of a college rivalry by reversibly altering the other school's mascot? This has been going on as long as there have been college rivalries and I don't really see how anyone gets harmed.

Let's not get all PETIA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Inanimate Objects) here and call for a moratorium on applying paint to statues, rocks, etc.

was during the Braylon game, when State was up big, and I watched some drunk guys in green and white try to light the wolverine statue on fire with their lighthers.  Needless to say, lighters do not reach a high enough temperature to melt a several ton bronze statue, police dragged the guys away in about 30 seconds, and oh yeah, we came back by 17 points in the 4th quarter and won.
