Most of the pessimism about this season is the need for the team to climb a learning curve without an OOC schedule composed entirely of cream puffs. God know I'm among those fans, but as I've said elsewhere, if Michigan beats Utah with a solid win, all bets are off. Period.
Utah at home in a different time zone on a G'Damn Thursday night game is a very tough opener. If this team can get a clean win in that environment, pretty much all conventional wisdom about new schemes and new coaches is out the window.
I am unable to expect that win, but I can hope for it, and I can consider the impact of such a win on this season. Further I never bet against Michigan, and on September 3rd my heart will rule, and I'll be looking for a win. Screw it just win.

I love harbaugh but he's not even the best football coach in our conference.

why is it always 2 or 3 years? a great coach at a school with talent and rescources like michigan can become great in one year, watch.

not all the players are of his choice. he has carry overs. look at what brady did his first year. that was because rr left him with some good ones. how many good ones did brady leave him. time will tell. i will be the first to say i was wrong at the end of the season. still sticking with one lose no way
August 20th, 2015 at 9:49 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh could do better than what Brady Hoke was capable. And no way can a team have a magical season in college football. No way! It'll take 3-4 years...Why? You, sir are dumber than a 4th grader

I see 1 loss, or possibly NO losses. The schedule is not as difficult as pundits think, and Michigan has far more talent than pundits think + an NFL coaching staff.
Ohio is just as likely to have 1 loss as Michigan.

MSU's recent wins are a transient blip in Michigan's history. A blip that will return to the historic mean. Ohio State is the rival and with the end of our engagement with ND the only rival left. Never confuse statistical anomalies with history, beat Ohio.

9-3 year. 3-1 and 6-2. I think we fall short of the BTTG with a loss to OSU at the end
August 20th, 2015 at 10:31 PM ^
This team needs to go out and punch opponents in the mouth and remind them, especially MSU, that we have better talent, better coaches, and better support than any football program we'll face this year (aside from OSU, which is a toss-up) and that they're a bunch of overachieving, irrelevant nothing stars that couldn't have even hoped to get a scholarship at Michigan.
As the great Ed Orgeron once said, "It's a goddam embarassment to win anything less than 10 games or go to the bullshit Cotton Bowl and get goddam 13th place. Thirteenth place is bullshit, and I came here to win."

I highly doubt Jim ever has thought that way. Not saying Michigan wouldn't and won't lose a game, but the premise of already accepting defeat is ridiculous.
How about we beat both arch rivals at home? Would that tickle your fancy?

of you in predicting wins and losses. I think what makes it especially tough is the road struggles in college football, and the recent memory of Michigan's struggles on the road, particularly the first roadie.
Looking at opponents, so many games seem winnable. But that Utah game, a Thursday night opener out west, will be a tough environment. BYU will present challenges with a mobile quarterback, assuming Hill is 100% (didn't he get hurt relatively late in the season last year?). I think that night game at Maryland might be a challenge, too. Michigan State is solid. And then again, at Minnesota on Halloween Night. If Michigan is say 8-1, ranked #7 in the country, with a showdown looming against #1 Ohio State, the Penn State game would be the ultimate trap game, one featuring a potential top draft pick QB.
We can hope though, right?

with 2 loses. OSU would be my predicted 3rd loss but I have a feeling Harbaugh is going to have a Bo like first season and he will defeat the number 1 OSU team in the BIG house. Ann Arbor will be party central for an entire week!

I'm interested in this "talent" everyone claims we have. The defense will be good, but I have yet to see talent on the offensive side of the ball.
It would not surprise me if we had a year like Staee did when they went 7-6 a couple years ago. Great D, shitty O.
