Twitter is claiming it's Tim Smith, a board member of the NIL group Champions Circle.

This is where I'm at. This…

This is where I'm at. This appears momentarily legacy tarnishing regardless of the eventual outcome. I guess my questions are 1.) If this is truly minimally effective, why do it? 2.) If this is legitimately an effective tool, why not ask for ncaa guidance before utilizing this type of method? I'm frustrated with Harbaugh that he (they, them, whatever) began doing this during such a run of dominance. It seems like such a stupid oversight.

I am worried about the fallout should the ncaa deem this illegal, because if we only get a slap on the wrist, or no punishment at all, I would guess everyone will begin doing this, which seems like something they would not want to happen. So maybe they make the punishment more severe than it should be in order to send a message? It's just frustrating that this is going to be talked about the rest of the year and basically add a PR asterisk to every victory.

I'm guessing you don't watch…

I'm guessing you don't watch any NBA and haven't for a long time. The league is insanely data driven and offenses are more efficient than they've ever been. Emoni's game does not translate to the NBA at all. He will have to become an entirely different player to have any chance of a pro career.

Is this an insult to Izzo?…

Is this an insult to Izzo? Crum also had the nickname of Mr. March and is a legend of the sport, one of the best coaches ever.

"Seems like a waste of time…

"Seems like a waste of time at this point."

I agree. I'm surprised the NIT isn't defunct, or strictly for lower tier, one bid conferences.

Do Power 5 teams and fans really care about the NIT? Or would a team like Lipscomb, who finished 20-13 this year but didn't make the postseason, care more about taking one of the 32 spots?

Maybe they could take the top 32 teams from the non power 5 conferences who didn't make the tourney, and award the NIT winner an automatic NCAA Tourney bid for the next season. Make it worthwhile in some way.

I don't mind celebrating the…

I don't mind celebrating the victory, but man, counting the days since OSU's last win against us due to ONE victory over the past 10 years...it feels so stupid. Beat them twice in a row and start the clock.

Believing in yourself and…

Believing in yourself and your team is basically a prerequisite of coaching at any level.

I've travelled to Canada for…

I've travelled to Canada for dinner and weekend trips several times and have not once been selected for the random Covid testing, however I've only been in a car with one other person. Traveling with a family of five could certainly be viewed differently. Also, I've only crossed at the Blue Water Bridge which is the Port Huron/Sarnia border, and I'm a Port Huron resident, so I might be viewed as slightly more friendly by the Sarnia border patrol.

"The children now love…

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

lol first of all, to…

lol first of all, to semantically claim Toledo is closer as if Toledo is in the running for elite quarterback is a hilarious argument to make.

Secondly, where exactly in my post did I claim ND is state college, and what relevance would that have anyways?

Third, congrats on your opinion.

Fourth, are you claiming religion is now the main reason for his choice?

Fifth, it's fine he went where he wants to go, and that doesn't mean Michigan screwed up. I never claimed Michigan did anything wrong. But claiming you want to get away (I looked up that quote and I think it's getting taken slightly out of context, or at least exaggerated by many here) then not choosing a school even three hours away is funny to me.

Some of you guys need to take a walk.

lol so CJ "leaves home" and …

lol so CJ "leaves home" and "gets away" by going a full two and a half hour drive to the closest college to the state of Michigan outside of Michigan?

He obviously doesn't have to choose Michigan simply due to Lloyd, but spare me the excuse of "getting away" when you choose ND lol.

Darius Miles had an 8 year…

Darius Miles had an 8 year NBA career. Hard to see Bates ever making the league.

I would pass on Bates. Slow,…

I would pass on Bates. Slow, uncoordinated, small wingspan, can't jump, no strength, not really a creator, hasn't been a great shooter for years, mostly a chucker, can't really get to the rack due to his lack of strength, terrible defender, not a great rebounder also due to lack of strength. Just not a good player. Peaked early in high school, and he really struggled against better talent on the summer circuits. Seventh Woods looked like the best player ever as a freshman in high school as well.

Add in potential family chaos, it's hard to see the potential "good" of this signing outweighing all the known negatives.

Need to know your age and…

Need to know your age and marital/kid status before giving a proper answer.

Edit: I didn't see you family status at first. I have no advice.

Can he still participate in…

Can he still participate in practice, or does he have to stay away until the 5th game is played?

You’re excusing the actions…

You’re excusing the actions of a nearly 50 year old man who has been a multi-millionaire for over 30 years because he grew up in Chicago.

Hard not seeing him fired…

Hard not seeing him fired over this. The comments regarding Gard are strange to me, especially considering Howard immediately grabbed Gard by the shirt with two hands. Both coaches seem immature in the situation. The Gard/Howard moment isn’t great for either, but also not the craziest thing ever seen between coaches. Just standard heat of the moment stuff.  But then Howard, who is in the back of the situation at this point, moves forward seemingly out of nowhere to slap the Wisconsin assistant, which completely starts the brawl.

If I’m Manuel, I’m really struggling to find a way not to fire him before the nights over. Howard’s point of view really doesn’t matter to me. This isn’t grade school.

Love making fun of someone's mental health issues because he went to a different school.

First of all, he's Bo's son,…

First of all, he's Bo's son, not step-son. Denigrating adoption is disgusting. Secondly, are you choosing to believe that everyone claiming they told Bo is lying, or just his son?

Terrible comment.

Proud of the University for taking it head-on? This was covered up for what, 40-50 years?

While some people may seek…

While some people may seek out positions of trust in order to commit sexual assaults, like your childhood acquaintance, I think many people become corrupted simply because they find themselves in a position of power. Something along the lines of, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I think this thread is…

I think this thread is incredibly premature. However, I am curious as to why he continues to trot out three forwards, and while I loved his sets the last two years, as a layman, it doesn't seem to me that the offense is putting guys in position to succeed.

Also on defense last night, it appeared that at times we were running some sort of zone/man hybrid type of defense. They appeared to be in zone when the ball was at the top, but as soon as it dropped to the free throw line extended, we dropped into man. Maybe we weren't running that, but it looked strange none the less. Anyone else notice that?

So many people on this board…

So many people on this board act like MSU is historically equivalent to Illinois. They aren't. Sure, they have the bad/terrible season every once in a while, but typically they are hovering around a being a "good" team. We typically hover around being a pretty good to great team. In a one game, emotional, rivalry scenario, there's not much difference between "good" and "pretty good," hence the slightly than better .500 record we have against them since they joined the conference.

They might get a degree, but…

They might get a degree, but to assume they received an education is disingenuous at best. These kids are receiving passing grades in their classes solely due to them being on the football team, and I'm willing to bet that 90%+ of the players on our team would not be accepted to Michigan if it weren't for their sport.

What we have is kids not typically academically strong enough to handle the classwork, having a full time athletic job, getting a degree in a field they probably hardly participated in. The "expensive education" they "receive" SHOULD be free because the only thing they are actually getting is that piece of paper.

I mean, cmon, how many of our players major in "General Studies?" You think they come to UM due to academics?

What makes a job a…

What makes a job a destination? Paying big money. It appears MSU is now in the business of paying big money. So like I said, am I specifically worried about Tucker? Not more than any other coach. Am I a little worried that MSU is willing to pay top dollar? I admittedly am.

I find these posts bizarre…

I find these posts bizarre. We haven’t won the conference in 16 years and half the people replying are talking down on MSU as a program. Am I worried specifically about Tucker? Not any more or less than Dantonio, but am I worried about MSU committing money to the football program they’ve never done before? That’s a different question.

"It's actually pretty sad,…

"It's actually pretty sad, considering that MSU fought like hell to avoid paying anything to sexual assault victims..."

Probably not something we would want to reference.

"Lucky" wins lol

"Lucky" wins lol

Not every close game is "lucky." Take off the glasses.

Well obviously. Imagine if…

Well obviously. Imagine if Harbaugh could beat OSU.

Dantonio was a good coach…

Dantonio was a good coach...better than Rich Rod and Hoke. The jury is out on Tucker, but he's absolutely trending in that direction. And as aggravating as he can be, Harbaugh is a good coach. Discounting the Hoke/RichRod years where MSU clearly had a better program, under Harbaugh I can't really point to any year where we lost to MSU to say "We we're better that year." Sure, our recruits might have been ranked higher, and we may have had more guys drafted, but looking at the end of year records/rankings, I don't think anyone impartial would say we were a better team.

In 2015, MSU beat Ohio State, won the conference, and went the CFP.

In 2017 MSU finished one game behind Ohio State in the division, and went 10-3 to our 4th place division finish and final record of 8-5.

In 2020 we each won 2 games.

Now this year remains to be seen.

MSU dominated this rivalry in the 50s/60s...we dominated in the 70s/80s...the 90s we came out on top 6-4...we dominated the 2000s...they've essentially dominated the 2010s to now. It will cycle back.

I haven't seen (maybe…

I haven't seen (maybe noticed) roughing the snapper being called any more frequently. Do you have data or is this a "feelings" post?

Of course if Oklahoma wins…

Of course if Oklahoma wins out they will be in. But at this point in the season, their best win is Texas, who is barely a top 25 team, and they nearly lost to 1-7 Tulane and 1-7 Kansas. Georgia, MSU, Cincy, Alabama, and Oregon all have significantly better wins than Oklahoma. If they keep winning, they will move up, but I would be surprised if the committee ranks them any higher than 6 at this point in time, and it wouldn't surprise me if they rank the aforementioned and OSU ahead of them.

This is one of the dumbest…

This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on this board in a while. Georgia has won every game by at least 17 points. Their defense is equal to Wisconsin’s? Wtf?

Just sit the next few out.

I’m very surprised so many…

I’m very surprised so many people here are so high on Oklahoma. They haven’t beaten anyone and nearly lost to Tulane and Kansas, and the Kansas game was with Caleb Williams. Someone mentioned Heisman for Williams, in what world?

My top 4 would be:

1. Georgia 2. MSU 3. Cincy 4. Oregon

I think the actual top 4 will be:

1. Georgia 2. MSU 3. Alabama 4. Cincy

I just can’t see the committee awarding Oklahoma a top 4 spot based on their performance this year.

If we can't tout academic standards, what do we have?

Yeah, that's not gonna…

Yeah, that's not gonna happen. This isn't John L. Smith's Sparty.

Agreed. Although I think 9 is low. I think Sparty is really good...I also think we are really good. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that OSU beats us, nor do I think it's a foregone conclusion that OSU beats Sparty. The CFP is still on the table for us.

And yes, I'm drinking, but not smoking. So lay off.

What? Walker was leading the…

What? Walker was leading the country in yards coming into the game! Sam said he had a ton of "cotton candy yards," but that dude is 100% legit. WTF are you talking about?

Totally agree in regards to Anthony. That guy has SPEED. Why hasn't he gotten any PT prior to yesterday?!

100%.

The undefeated power…

100%.

The undefeated power 5 teams (and Cincy) should be taking up spots 1-9 in the rankings. Insane that Bama is #5 with that loss. Hell, Kentucky beat Florida by a wider margin than Alabama, yet Kentucky is #11. Pre-season bias and nothing more.

Michiganders claim to love…

Michiganders claim to love fall, yet also claim weather in England is miserable, a place where it's basically fall year round.

Before everyone attacks me, I'm saying this tongue in cheek.

You already are turning into…

You already are turning into a fair weather fan when you specifically chose a team due to fair weather fans haha.

Seth, bravo to you for these…

Seth, bravo to you for these weekly articles. I hope you get paid by the word (or not, these are plenty long).

After reading this article, it really feels as if the season hinges on this Wisky game.

I was watching the Colts…

I was watching the Colts/Rams game on Sunday and the Colts had a 1st and goal from the 5, but immediatly after the play a Rams player went crazy and hit an official during an argument. Flags galore, but during the fracas, a Colts player in celebration of the sure to be penalty and likely ejection, waves his hand "goodbye" in the offending players face, drawing a taunting flag. The penalties did NOT offset because the Rams penalty was deemed during the play, while the Colts penalty was during a dead ball. The Rams penalty was half the distance to the goal (so about two and a half yards), and the player was ejected, while the Colts penalty was a 15 yard unsportsmanlike. The Colts ended up in a worse position. Bizarre.

Exactly. The last eight…

Exactly. The last eight weeks are filled with Wisky, MSU, PSU, and OSU, not to mention Indiana and Maryland. Whether Western, Washington and NIU are “good” doesn’t matter at all to our ranking or bowl prospects.

Same goes for MSU considering everyone wants to debate the schedules.
