Michigan to Under Armour?
Report from SB Nation that Michigan officials visited Under Armour HQ this week....
This is very, very interesting news when you pair it with this from a few months ago that was spotted at the MSBC
Shhhh ... post this a week later so Jaylen Brown doesn't see it.
:)
Too late.

Their shoes are awesome. Soccer cleats are some the best on the market and their running shoes are the real deal too. I've been really impressed with by their stuff lately.

I don't think this means a whole lot considering Michigan officials visited Nike recently too.
Exactly. Just doing their due diligence would mean meetings with each of the major providers.
But sadly, that company doesn't exist
That would be Under Armour.
Given the current realities of the garment industries, unless UA does 100% of the manufacturing in first world countries or in whole owned subsidiaries, I would have a hard time believing this. Its basically 100% that any work contracted out to third world companies will be subcontracted and then re-subcontracted out until such a time that it is using child labor.

Michigan sports business conference
Maryland got that treatment because they're Under Armour's flagship school. Like Nike and Oregon.
The founder, Kevin Plank, was a walk-on at UMD and they were one of the first schools to partner with them for apparel.
There's no threat to us
As a Maryland resident (who grew up in NJ) I feel like I should point out that Marylanders are oddly obsessed with their state flag. I'll admit it, it's cool looking, but that's why those jerseys exist.
Kentucky rumored to be leading for Under Armour.
I hear Oakland is still in play

Kentucky will never leave the bay area. His sister likes it there too much.
Their Northwestern redisign was really well done, and I don't think they've made any changes at Auburn.
Interesting note, looks like Boston College is wearing mostly Bauer (Nike) hockey gear, while Notre Dame is apparently mostly CCM (Adidas). I wonder which direction Michigan would go.
Assuming UA can offer all of the equipment the 25 non-football/basketball sports need, this is the best option, IMO.
Yeah i would assume that we are meeting with each of the "Big 3" (Adidas, Nike and UA) since the apparel deal is almost up. We're going into free agency so maybe Hackett wants to take all his Official visits and be wined and dined. Does Bike still exist? How hilarious would it be to see the coaching staff decked out in those awful Bike shorts that coaches in the 70s and 80s used to wear.
Danny White told us that they aren't just for coaches anymore...
Haha, nice find

New Balance and Sketchers next?
are readying a joint proposal.
Lotto and Nutmeg Mills are also in the mix.
Yeah, I think this is nothing more than Michigan doing due diligence. Title is a little misleading giving the impression that something serious is going on. I would hope that they would meet with all interested parties and make a decision after having all of the information in front of them. Until then, there will probably be a lot more posts like this one.
the PF Flyer reps coming?
