Dave Claborn (OSU Ath Dep.) letter to Devin Gardner
Nice letter to Devin relating to JT Barrett's injury.

EDIT: Not entirely sure if Dave Clarborn has any affiliation to the Athletic Department, but according to DG the letter was sent from both.

Not really but a very classy gesture from their athletic department

That's awesome. Really dont have much else to say other than that.

and he's stuck with the guy who didn't come to play School.
Sorry, OSU, you can't have him!

Hopefully this could be the thing that returns this rivalry to one of class, and hardnosed football. Not obscene gestures and disrespect.

I may be totally wrong... but wasn't that Logan Tulley-Tillman that burnt the letter?
December 3rd, 2014 at 7:36 PM ^
They both did it.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:17 PM ^
Sportsmanship. Class all around.

That letterhead looks better when set ablaze.

I like DG a lot. The on the field results were inconsistent, but he did give is some great games to watch, and he's obviously winning at life so there's that.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:22 PM ^
Dude needs to be kicked in the giblets. Just goes to show there's mega assbags in other fanbases besides osu and msu.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:35 PM ^
MGOTwitterUsers should just form a task force and spam the hell out of these stupid social media "fans" that make the rest of us look bad. They deserve to be called out and trolled.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:44 PM ^
I was angrier at those so-called "MGoFans" for their lack of basic human decency than over anything said by any Buckeye or Spartan in recent memory. Just a total lack of class of any kind.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:37 PM ^
There may be "mega assbags" in the Michigan fanbase, too, but they represent a much smaller percentage of the fanbase than those in the schools you mentioned.

Pretty silly comment.

They're gone from more recent versions.

Incredibly awesome thing for Claborn to do. Does anyone think Dave Brandon would have done that? I don't and it annoys the hell out of me to concede sportsmanship high ground to OSU. I do have some hope that Hackett might make a gesture like that though.
Thank you Devin Gardner for that simple action that reinforces the way things should be at Michigan.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:29 PM ^
Smith did not write the letter. That's your Brandon comparison.

It looks like he is an administrator at a satellite campus, not with the AD. Edit: still classy to do, not diminishing that.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:31 PM ^
I am not sure entirely... I was just going by what DG said in his comment... "Dave Claborn and the OSU Athletic Department"
December 3rd, 2014 at 3:48 PM ^
As his letter stated, he is at the OSU campus at Marion Ohio, not in C-Bus. Much like U of M Flint, Dearborn.
December 3rd, 2014 at 7:15 PM ^
Not that it matters per the point, but what is being represented in the media is that the OSU at Columbus sent the letter. And this really does make a difference per the gesture of having sent the letter. Not to it's meaning or the sportsmanship Devin showed, but to the sportsmanship of OSU if they had actually done what they are being represented to have done. Technically, OSU sent the letter. In reality "OSU" did not. Just sayin'.....

The best moment on that field for either side on Saturday.
December 3rd, 2014 at 3:26 PM ^
It was one of those moments that will be remembered for a long time in this rivalry and should be for sports in general
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:23 PM ^
when they do this type of stuff.
curious what reaction, if any, 11 W board had to devin's sportsmanship.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:24 PM ^
Athletic Department? OSU at Marion. How connected is this guy to OSU, Columbus? I'm not saying it's not a classy thing, but it doesn't appear to be coming from The Ohio State University. Yes I'm stirring the pot, but I'm also cynical that The OSU athletic department would send this given their track record with childish things related to Michigan.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:33 PM ^
But the letter is from a guy at OSU-Marion, not OSU (Columbus).
The difference is there.
December 3rd, 2014 at 2:38 PM ^
This is pretty cool. Got me a bit emotional since all of this rises above the rivalry.
Nice.

repeatedly has proven himself on the field and in The Game. He may not have won with his arm and feet against Ohio, but he always put on a first class show. And I always admire him as one of Michigan's finest who honored himself and the program while wearing Tom Harmon's number gallantly.
My only regret is that he would have been given better opportunity to use his natural skills in a more efficient way at quarterback. That said he is a true Michigan Man, in every sense.
Paranthetically, this nice note came apparently from a well wisher inside the Marion branch of The Ohio State University, not from the official fundraising office in Columbus. Still, an extremely kind gesture.

That Devin knows that once the final gun sounds, one score or another, one statistic or another, won't matter in the grand scheme of things. How you represent yourself will always be your measure as a human being in every part of your life, and will follow you long after you've stopped playing the game. It's called 'character' and he has it in abundance. I couldn't be prouder that he wore the Maize and Blue.

Gardner. Class act all the way.
I really hope someone gives Gardner a shot in the NFL. I don't think he'd get drafted any higher than the 6th-7th round, if at all, but he's got some good potential. I hope he can land somewhere like the Pats, Broncos or Packers, hold a clipboard for a while and really learn from an elite QB. I've always wondered what Gardner would be able to accomplish if he had the right coaches.
Those ND, OSU and Indiana games last year showed us that his good is really, really good.
December 3rd, 2014 at 4:07 PM ^
If not at QB, then at WR. As a WR at Jerry World, he scored one of the few passing TDs given up by Alabama that year.
December 3rd, 2014 at 4:16 PM ^
Devin Gardner transcends the game of football. He'll run some important organization some day.
Gerald Ford used to play football. Do you know that Michigan only won one game when he was a Senior? And yet that certainly didn't define Gerald Ford.
December 3rd, 2014 at 4:17 PM ^
I stalked the guy and checked out his facebook page. Seems like he has a grandson named (wait for it...) Devin. The picture of him posted on his wall shows him in a maize and blue t-shirt over which some friend is giving him grief.
Also, he is at OSU-Marian which is 45 miles north of C-Bus.

Yeah it was from a satelite campus, but it was still classy. Hopefully the main campus was also touched by the heartfelt gesture.
