this finding a new team work, exactly?
November 30th, 2014 at 1:45 PM ^
I wouldn have been very disappointed in such a hire. But if Les Miles is M's coach in 2015, I'd do a little dance. #adjustedexpectations

this is not in any way a positive. It's essentially forcing you to implement a succession plan, as though we're doing this coaching search and the next one at the same time. And you're talking about Les retiring right when we start hitting our stride, which is suboptimal.
And nobody has really considered what might happen if Les, having left a perfect situation at LSU, insisted on finishing the job here and wanted to stay indefinitely. Are we prepared to have a 70-something Les Miles here, pulling a Bowden and fighting to keep his job even if the game passes him by?

So I care about how old people are treated. Does Michigan have some mandatory retirement age I don't know about? Why couldn't Les Miles keep coaching until he was 71? I just don't understand the age concern.
Now I'm going to return to my epsom salt bath.

And the results of those searches are good enough reasons to not want to do another any time in the near future.

People have been saying that Hackett and Les are good friends. I wish Hackett had been the AD in 2007...
November 30th, 2014 at 1:46 PM ^
The more I am convinced that no one yet knows who the next coach will be. Maybe not even Hackett.

Does anyone know who Les' wife's real estate agent is and can we get a hold of that person to find out if she is home-shopping in Ann Arbor?
November 30th, 2014 at 2:02 PM ^
has actually been confirmed. In 2007.

Les Miles is a mirror of Mark Richt. Very successful, but he's losing traction with the fans. 3 losses in each of the past 3 years is not going to sit well when you've had 29 players drafted in that same time frame.

Is he bringing his team with him, or is it just Miles?

And LSU has more talent than anyone in the SEC not named Alabama.
To me Les Miles looks like this:
8-5
9-4
10-3
9-4
Coaching search.

The guy has half an NFL roster and still manages to underachieve. What will happen when he comes here with significantly less talent?

They speculated that in 2007 and 2011, too. I remember in 2011 a Louisiana sports talk show after LSU won...I think it was the Cotton Bowl, announcing on their show that they have learned that Les Miles accepted the Michigan job.
We all know how that panned out.

well, not really. He could refuse to sign an extension but he can't refuse the trade itself unless he opts out of his current deal to come here. So our best hope is that he has his eye on a particular NFL job and they don't want to pay what SF is asking, causing him to decide to head here.

Also, Les Miles tweeted "Geuz Blue..
An Ivy Leaguer should be wordly enough to know how they spell "Geaux" in Louisiana.

As many people have said, we are realistically not getting Jim Harbaugh. Why would you not want Les Miles? Almost every issue is minor. Age? Nick Saban is 63 and recruits well. Relies on Coordinators? Tell me a top program that doesn't have top coordinators. Agressive playcalling? I'd take it.
The guy should have had the job several times in the past. Proven winner in the toughest conference.

Meanwhile Michigan alumn John Smith, a 45 year old engineer, tweeted "Beat Ohio" yesterday. This must mean that he is our next head coach.
