The Snowflake Thread: Offense

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

Here's your thread to discuss what there was of offense in this game. Remember to keep it brief, sort of like the offense.

We still blaming the youth in the OL..this offense has no chemistry, nothing clicks, DG still playing like a freshmen, our WR cant run routes, cant catch, RBs are inconsistent.

and Carr-Debord would explain to Nuss--

well, we liked to do This And That, by which to set-up This And That.  PLUS--  we had Institutional Knowledge of B10 coaching-personnel.

Nuss replies--  well, yeah.  But I dont have any of that.

to which Carr-Debord reply--  yes.  BUT--  YOU Will NOT Have A JOB NY, if you keep doing what YOU are doing

That was among the worst performances I've ever seen.  Receivers can't catch or create separation.  The only QB consistency is bad reads and equally bad throws.  I love Devin but this is difficult to even watch and based on the stands, not all that many did.

I never thought I'd long for the days of a game manager type at QB as much as I do now.  I'd be happy with an average arm who doesn't turn the ball over.  DG is killing this O right now.

Not that they were great, but the offensive line probably played the best of any position on offense.  Skill players made the lions share of mistakes today, especially Funchess and Gardner.

Some one else said it, but I too cringe every time DG throws the ball. I love the kid of what he's given, but a this point he's a complete liability. The OL is actually improving, but much like we saw with Denard, opposing DC's are daring Michigan to throw and loading up to stop the run. I see people ripping on Nuss, but how can any OC be held accountable for the offense when the only viable QB is a complete turnover machine? From what I have seen, Nuss calls good plays (for the most part) but DG seems to almost always make the worst possible decision and/or a terrible throw. I have to imagine that the players, as much as they respect DG, know that they're not going very far with a kid that cannot run (was supposed to be his best weapon), can't throw deep, and has a very hard time protecting the ball. It's sad, but that's where we are today.

Considering Nuss is the QB coach too, get Morris or Speight up to speed to run the damn offense, I mean it is a crazy thought, but I have heard other teams can play other QBs and have some semblence of success.

No way we want to burn his redshirt for this tire fire of a season.  I do hope he can beat out Morris next year since it appears Morris isn't good enough to even relieve DG in games like today.

when devin tossed that last int towards canteen, canteen ripped into him on the bench yelling that devin should have thrown it further and up the field.  devin just turned the other way and then went to turn and say something but just put his arms up like welp, what can i say.

so frustrating that freshmen receivers are going after a 5th year senior qb for sucking

Done with DG.  Period.  I rarely agree with Drew Sharp...ok, i've never agreed with DS, but he was right when stating Hoke screwed himself when he tiied himself solely to Devin Gardner.  This kid stares down one receiver EVERY TIME.  He makes batting down the ball on a 6'5" QB not only possible but likely!!!!   Hoke has enough of his own problems, but we cannot even get competent  QB play...and that while we mostly control  the line of scrimage.  I saw it at Iowa last year--deer in the headlights and terrible decisions--when we could have pulled out a win.  Now, this season, we have better running game, he is not asked to do everything and he still can't find the open guy.  Hell, he isn't even looking.  The INT intended for Canteen had a WIDE OPEN receiver all alone along the sidelines, but he missed that entirely.  He should not start again...and i really don't care the struggles we will go through with Morris, because we have to get QB ready for next season's new coach anyway!!!!  BTW, if this is on Nuss and his QB coaching, then we really got had.

When he does find an open guy, so often is the pass underthrown or too late. Couple that with being indecisive, staring down receivers and inconsistent wideout play...ugh.

I had a wedding during the game yesterday and my dvr didn't have space. It sounds like I didn't miss much. Did we even try running with drake Johnson? Was last week a fluke or are we saving him for Maryland?
