Sorry Dave, too little too late.

I mean, the increased prices were never about revenue anyway, right?  They were a marketing strategy so students value their tickets more.  That was Dave logic, on the record.  Take a hike, you self serving Noid!

They still have the seating policy wrong. Tickets should be assigned according to group seniority like they used to be...and then to make it work, ushers don't check tickets/enforce unless asked to. The result is a compromise between general admission and seniors getting the best seats. Students can make it work better than any rigidly enforced policy.

I know I've been one of the few board contrarians on this topic but I think he's going to survive this.  Why would the University let Brandon release this news if they were about to fire him?  You save news like this for the new guy as a way of endearing yourself to the masses day one - you dont let an outgoing manager be the hero.

I think Dave has had his wings clipped and been told to sit in the corner and think about things but I think h'es gonna be our AD next year.  I really do.

I am starting to think this as well. It seems like if DB was going to be canned it would have been done already. Are you really telling me Michigan can't afford a $3 million buyout? This isn't Charlie Weis money. The longer nothing happens the more I think that DB will survive. I really fear for the future of the program going forward. DB will just hire another yes man. This is just depressing.

two games.  If we get lit up at EL and look bad doing it and then there is a large number of empty seats for Indiana next week and they don't win there, I think DB is gone.

I know he's not in charge of wins and losses, but the butts in the seats is a reflection of him as much as the results on the field at this point.  If he and/or Hoke survive until next year, I think I'm done until major changes are made.  I gave up my season tickets after last year and the product on the field, mostly on the sideline has confirmed my decision was a good one.

If the crapfest that runs the dept and the football team remain, nothing will improve and we're in for at least 5 more years of mediocrity.

Too little too late for Brandon, but it's nice of him to show he has the ability to hear people's complaints. Now work on the rest of the ticket prices, and the stadium experience as a whole. Then leave.

No sane Football coach will work for him so this means nothing if he's retained.

If he's retained: LOL. The ship continues its nosedive to hell.

Much are faculty/staff tickets this year?

At Mississippi State faculty/staff season football tickets are $250. Student season tickets are $50. Basketball and baseball games are free for students.

I'm hoping prices hold next year when LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss visit!

Big difference vs Miss St is the number of nonrevenue sports that these ticket prices have to support. Its just not valid to compare because Michigan has to support so many more programs. Its amazing the difference in number of programs. Just look at this list:

Mens sports that Miss St does not have but Michigan does: Gymnastics, Wrestling, Hockey, Lacrosse, Swimming and Diving, Soccer

Womens sports that Miss St does not have but Michigan does: Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Gymnastics, Rowing, Water Polo

ALso, there are no sports that Miss St has that Michigan does not have.

I mentioned Mississippi State because I work there and have season tickets. I just wondered how much faculty/staff tickets currently cost at UM.

Yes, UM has a much larger athletic department with many more sports to support. I assume that ticket revenue is only a small chunk of AD revenue when compared with TV contracts and donations. My guess is ticket prices are more guided by demand than any financial strain on the AD.

Sorry..wasnt trying to jump on you. I found it interesting the differences in number of sports. The same held when I looked at it vs Alabama a week ago so its not just Miss St not being as big of a program like Alabama. It really is a fundamental issue that gets swept aside alot...how bad do people want nonrevenue sports as they cost a lot so they need to be supported by higher ticket prices. Most here thought adding womens and mens lacrosse was a good idea but is it worth it if it means higher football ticket prices? im not arguing either way but I think this issue often gets ignored.

This price pretty much ensures that student tickets will sell well no matter who is AD next year. Should lightening strike and team 135 finish well, say win four of their remaining five beat either MSU or Ohio away and win whatever bowl they find themselves, giving hope to next season. Tickets will sell very well and most of the fire Brandon movement will lose steam. Not all resistence to him will fade, but a great deal will.

Now if he is smart, and he is smart, Brandon will do something like give a year of PSD forgiveness for current season ticket holders and leave their prices untouched. He can put this as showing appreciation for those season ticket holders who stayed "loyal" during a difficult season. He could give a 50% credit to 2013 season ticket holders if they comeback.

Current season ticket holders who upgrade to better seats could apply the PSD they paid in 2014 to the donation required for their new seats.

This is a nice carrot and has the advantage that unlike the student price change, regular season tickets were not lowered, so if the team does well in 2015 and expectations for 2016 are on the rise with a restored waiting list, he doesn't have to raise ticket prices to get back on track, just allow the PSD to return.

Many people here don't want to admit it, but a great deal of the folks on the fire Brandon bandwagon are there because they feel gouged and unappreciated and the team is losing. Take the first two away and give them hope for a better season in 2015 and they'll jump to buy tickets.

While he may ultimately be fired, Brandon is a survivor, and expectations that his fate is sealed are premature.

What does being a Bo disciple have to do with saying "Ohio" when talking about Ohio State?  Are you implyiing that Lloyd Carr, Gary Moeller or Bo Schembechler said "Ohio" when talking about Ohio State?  If so, do you have a primary reference?

Also, how is Brady Hoke a "Bo disciple"?  Because he was once an assistant coach for somebody who was an assistant coach under Bo Schembechler?  By those standards, Rich Rodriguez (to pull a name out of a hat) was also a "Bo disciple" because he was once an assistant coach under Don Nehlen.

As I said if lightening strikes and Hoke wins four of five (which means he beats either Ohio or MSU) and wins the bowl game his job is COMPLETELY safe.

Further if he only wins three of the remaining five and wins the bowl he'll likely get another year if the offense gets it somewhat together and the team overall is playing better. One thing that so many here fail to understand is what a crap shoot a head coaching change really is. One reason I was concerned about dumping Borges (which I supported as Hoke's decision) was because I was worried about the fan's reactions to additional struggles from another major change in the offensive scheme. Well here we all are.

That decision will NOT be made on an emotional basis. It will depend on the perceived progress by the team, the availability of top head coaching talent, and the over all costs. The cost of dumping Hoke also includes the cost of paying off the remaining contracts of any staff not retained by the new HC. Figure at minimum that's Mattison and Nussmeier. So add about $4 million to Hoke's buyout.

Also ask yourself the following question, are you willing for this team to spend another 3-4 years in the wilderness because you are annoyed with the season so far? Hoke delivered an 11-2 season and a BCS win, two and a half years later you are looking for the bus to toss him under. Rebuilding a major program is very very tough and full of unexpected pitfalls. A nice even progression is very reassuring, but that is rarely how things work in real life.

As for calling them Ohio - I really dislike Ohio very very much and if calling them Ohio irritates them then that's reason enough for me.

Sooo whats the progress?? This team has zero offensive skills and lets be real all the "talent" on the field is overrated especiallu on the offense side of the ball..look at osu new qb new OL and they just murdering people on the field, they are in sync..in order for Hoke to stay we need to beat both rivals period

Is it such a novel idea to lower all ticket prices, not just students? I wish I could afford season tickets again, but against Brandon is not interested in having secondary educators as season ticket holders. I am happy for current students, but Brandon needs to also take care of the alumni.

Edit: I guess this is a fairer price but it's still like the fourth highest price according to that chart that was posted earlier. It is nice they're doing it but's about dang time for some change.

The 8th-best (maybe) team in the conference charged the highest price.  Now they are tied with Sparty and Iowa for fouth-highest.  It's time for the Wolverines to put a product on the field that eleveates their price/product quality ratio to at least 1.000.

Maybe Brandon was given a list of things to fix or he's canned? On that list is to develop a better relationship with the student body. Now he just has to fix everything else.
