A Prayer to the Banhammer God

Submitted by dmccoy on
The King of Belch, proud owner of a -800 vote tally should be banned. Today. He's an idiot at best and more likely a troll that adds nothing to the boards or the site. Some of his work: Tressel Gets it, UM Doesn't, as Usual And neither do UM fans, all aghast in snobbery. We may never beat them again. They get a special joy out of this rivalry, don't they? They just enjoy beating Michigan--and they've had a lot of practice at that lately. I hate 'em; always have. But they do things that show they really, REALLY know what this game is all about (insert usual Michigan Fan myopic Cooper Years reference here). This isn't a cherry-picked example. In fact, as far back as I looked, the aforementioned "King of Belch" does nothing other than belch vitriol and negativity. If anyone can link to a single constructive post he has ever made I'd be shocked. The points people earn serve a purpose, they call attention to trolls like this one. I've voiced controversial opinions and been "negged" for it, and I've been in the minority more often than not. And I haven't managed to garner nearly the amount of negative points as this poster has. This isn't a case where someone commonly has a minority or controversial point of view, this is a case where someone purposefully spouts inflammatory comments. In my opinion, someone should drop the hammer and get this guy out of here. Read his stuff. If you think he shouldn't be banned voice your support. If you think he's a troll, voice that as well. EDIT: So far exactly zero votes for a ban. I guess that's that. 2nd EDIT: Congratulations to the King of Belch, he has generated more comments than any MGoBoard thread since September 21, with none of them calling for a ban.

but, I'm going to defend K of B for a minute here. I don't think Rodriguez should go. That should be said upfront. However, there are many coaches who we could or might have hired who would clearly have a better record than we did last year or this: Schiano, Ferentz, Edsel, Ron English, Mike Deboard, Scott Loeffler to name several. Clearly the personnel that we had would have better fit what any of them would have done here. If any one of them were chosen, it's likely that we would have had a winning season last year and this. That doesn't mean that it would have been a better long-term solution. Martin and Mary Sue took the bold step of moving in a completely new direction. This is not easy. The results to date are disappointing, but probably not more than two wins from what any one of us could reasonably have expected (last year or this year) and there have been some close games that could (should?) have gone in our favor. I don't know if Belch is disgusted that we hired him in teh first place or not -- I try to avoid most of the stuff he posts. But there's undeniable merit to his position, even you and I or "we" think he's totally wrong. Critiscm does not a "troll" make. I honesly have never considered that he might be a troll because he seems to care an awful lot about Michigan, even if he is dead wrong.

of those coaches. Seriously how could English do better with Sheridan and Threet (and please do not tell me Mallett would be here) and a patchwork offensive line? How would Debord have made this defense play better when we are starting walk-ons? I have a very hard time believing that any coach could have saved us from these terrible seasons.

Threet is a competent dropback quarterback. Mallet would most likely still be here. And, last time I checked, Mannigham, Arrington, some guys who like to eat a lot of pizza, one of which starts at another school, all transferred/went to the draft/retired after RR was hired. Hardly a stretch Boujealous.

Perhaps the OP should start up his or her own blog, and then he/she can ban whoever he/she wants. Isn't there better stuff to be posting about? Michigan isn't exactly a boring football team to be following these days.

King of Belch = that commenter with the sexual induendo for a name that was banned for posting pics of a dead irish guy (obvsly I can't remember the actual handle). Seriously, it is as clear as day. Same guy (girl, child, etc,.)

he's just an insecure middle aged man who likes to remind people he can drink beer (because he is a man, who can drink, because he is a beer drinkin' manly man).

I used to hate him, until I realized he was just plain insane. You have to realize most the stuff he posts is rather sarcastic and snarky. He has a very easily identifiable avatar. Just skim over his posts if you need to. It isn't worth getting worked up over a message board poster enough to write a post to have him banned.

I obviously haven't seen everything the guy has written, but I've seen a good amount of it and I think we'd be poorer for losing him. It's good (I've said this once before) to have a devil's advocate and a court jester, roles he sometimes fills (intentionally or not)...He is the poster who is most likely to make me laugh.

He'll just come back as "The Queen of Barking Spiders" or something like that. Besides, he is funny sometimes. I can usually tell from the first sentence whether I am going to read the rest of the post/comment or not. In addition, he hasn't really come here and posted RCMB abbreviations and buzzwords. I would put him more in the "smartass without a cause" catagory rather than calling him a troll. So, basically, if I had the time and energy it takes to hate someone as badly as you appear to hate KoB, I just wouldn't bother to read anything he or she wrote. It's not like anyone is holding you down and forcing you to read him. And it's not like you can miss his avatar before deciding whether or not to read.

holding a gun to people's heads and making them read all those threads and comments. Thats the focker we need to blame. potato salad.

He tends to be very obnoxious, often an asshole, and adds mostly negative value to most threads. Whether that justifies a banning... /shrug. I'm sure Brian can come up with his own policy. I do fail to see how people bitch about repeat posts and the like, yet find the King of Belch's posts to be okay or even good. It's just noise, and not amusing noise either.

I could look and say wow, how many negative points, is there a limit?? But then you actually read some of his posts, and a lot get banged because he's not towing the company line, some because he's outrageous...but I see a whole lot of small posts that are just matter of fact of his that get negged just because he is who he is. To the point that I've plussed a few, just because they're not completely stupid stuff...they're just slamming him. And that's not cool. -82 on FIRE RICH ROD NOW!!! (not that I've seen him say that), sure. -3 on "the sky is blue"? Man....

Why don't we just decide to all have the same opinions, say the same things, agree on everything we said, never say anything snarky, controversial, shocking, disturbing, or dissenting, and then pos-bang each other into states of euphoria. Then we can all fall over dead from pure boredom. Yeah. That's the ticket.

He has the right to his opinion, and I don't personally think he should be negged when he expresses it coherently and in the proper forum. He often doesn't (a section on XBox 360s is not the place), but he hasn't done anything that I would think is a ban-worthy offense. He just has to live with a point-total that will cause him to be censored whenever Brian declares martial law.

He (tKoB) just has to live with a point-total that will cause him to be censored whenever Brian declares martial law.
Or maybe not, he was at -832 around noon, now I see him at -120; at that rate he'll be +300 this time tomorrow.
Voting statistics aren't enough, we need dynamic extrapolations based on accurate exit polls, full time talking heads, dedicated supercomputer modelling of trends, etc.

I don't know what to say, but I am nearly in tears here. The only other times I get this close to crying is when Ross and Rachel seem like they are getting back together on Friends reruns. OR when my kid comes home from school--and the dream that I am totally free is shattered once again. Or when I wake up in the morning and realize that, well, I am still me. But seriously: A 1700 point swing? I feel like I'm Sally Field all over again! And I can't deny the fact that you like me...right now...you like me! Oh dear gourd, my mascara is running and is dripping down onto the lovely pink chaffon I'm wearing as I read this thread... GET...it...TOGETHER Barking Sphincter/Zip Goshboots...DAMMIT MAN. You may be wearing a dress and high heels, but you are a MAN and MEN don't cry goddammit! FUCKYOU GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER! GODDAMMIT! OK. You guys know the worst thing about being in the negative WRT points? I don't get to see how individual posts are getting negged or pozzed--therefore I can't see what I'm doing to piss everyone off--so I can keep doing it! Just kidding (not really). Thanks MgoBlog: You're the best

KoB is MGoDrewSharp. Stirring the pot. Always negative. Banning him is unnecessary, however, unless he regularly insults other users. Don't like KoB? I suggest not reading his posts.
