Hello: Jack Dunaway (preferred walk-on DE)
Multiple reports on Twitter that Jack Dunaway, a 2015 defensive end teammate of Alex Malzone at Brother Rice, has accepted a preferred walk-on offer from Michigan. Dunaway, Malzone, and Grant Perry were all scheduled to attend today's Miami game. Dunaway's father, Craig Dunaway, played tight end at Michigan in the early 1980s.
Brandon Brown posted a names to watch item on Dunaway back in March. And here's his junior year highlights video:

Dunaway had offers from Cornell, Harvard, and Saginaw Valley, according to a D Zone article on his commitment. Here are a couple of quotes from the article:
“Pretty much since last year after the season coach mattison told me that he wanted me to come as a preferred walk on,” Dunaway, 6-foot-3, 220-pounds, said.
“I've always loved Michigan and I told the coaches last week that I would be coming to play for Michigan next year.”
. . .
Dunaway liked the fact that it’s a family type of atmosphere at Michigan and enjoys the mindset of Brady Hoke.
“Like coach Hoke always says "it's Michigan" and when it came down to it there is no other place like it from a football, academic and family standpoint.”

Were the Glasgows preferred walkons or just walkons? At this point seeing how guys like Henry and Glasgow (3 star and walk on) are our best DTs I am not going to count anything out. Could help us.

Thanks Raoul - thought you just watched bball. :) Pretty remarkable we have 2 starters from the Glasgow brothers. Wonder if they have younger brothers.

Hoops are definitely #1, but I do follow the football team closely and throw a post in here and there in football threads.
Anyway, just wanted to note that there is a third Glasgow brother, Jordan, who's a senior at Marmion Academy and plays tailback. He has his own website.

Welcome to the family Jack.
I remembered Craig right away and yes that makes me old. From Wikipedia.
Craig Carter Dunaway (March 27, 1961 in Lake Charles, Louisiana) is a former professional American football tight end who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League and the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 1983 NFL season after being drafted in the eighth round of the 1983 NFL Draft.[1] He had also been selected in the USFL territorial draft by the Panthers.[2] In college, he had played for the Michigan Wolverines football team of the Big Ten Conference. He attended Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[3]
Michigan
He accumulated 55 receptions for 775 yards and eight touchdowns at Michigan.[4] He wore #88 and earned varsity letters for the 1980-1982 teams.[5] Both the 1980 and 1982 teams were Big Ten Conference Champions and went to the Rose Bowl.[6][7] He started all 12 games for the 1982 team,[7] and he finished second to Anthony Carter in receiving.[4] He had his career high 110 yards receiving in his final game as a Wolverine in the 1983 Rose Bowl. He led Michigan in yards from scrimmage that day.[8]
Today, Craig works in the advertising business, for the past 11 years with Perich Advertising + Design in Ann Arbor. He and his wife, Geri, live in Birmingham with sons Jack and Carter, and Brittany Spaniel Woody (not named after the former Ohio State coach).

This kid is going to be a big time player for us in a few years!

last night here in PIcktown. Malzone looked pretty impressive (even to some of the locals sitting with me) - 3 TDs, a number of nice passes, probably around 200 yards, and only one throw that really looked bad. Generally good decision making, a strong arm, and a lot of poise in the pocket. Had a punt that went only 10 yards, but that's not what he's being recruited for.
The Brother Rice defense was fairly stout in the 28-7 win. Pickerington North, though, is a shadow of what it was when Jake Butt was a senior. They've graduated many key folks on offense, lost their senior transfer QB in game one, and lost a RB to a gruesome injury in game 2. PHSN is 0-3, with losses to defending state champs of two states. Looks like a long season ahead for them.
BR Highlight video from the game (4:45 to see how BR over-powered PHSN) - Dunaway is #98 with lots of nice plays included here:

It's time to offer this kid ( #1) . He is true BLUE and would likely commit on the spot. Looking better every week. For those who are star-struck I would guess that a 4th star is in his immediate future the way he is playing. Regardless of that he would be a great addition.

And there were some strong words from Malzone after that game:
Won't be the last time leaving Columbus with a win

Could he be another Jake Ryan?

Interesting how the "next generation" of former Wolverine standouts are coming back to Michigan (Wanglers, Runyan). I wonder if Anthony Carter has a son?!!??

EDIT: I thought Dunaway was at the far right of the bottom photo above, but that photo was also published with a Steve Lorenz article on Dunaway's commitment, with him identified at the far left.
Dunaway's on-field presence, according to him, will be driven by his motor, which he says never quits.
"I feel like I am a little bit undersized for the defensive end position at this point, but I make up for it with my motor and effort," Dunaway said. "Of course, I want to see the field as quickly as I can at Michigan. When I do get to see the field, I want people to look at me as someone who could give the team a spark defensively, and someone who plays all the way through the whistle. That's what I bring to the table."

In the bottom photo, far right, that's Jack's "little" brother, 2017 TE/DE Carter Dunaway. He's listed at 6'6" 225 on MaxPreps.
From left to right: Jack Dunaway, Grant Perry, Joe Lewandowski, Alex Malzone, Bo Pickens, Carter Dunaway. All members of the Brother Rice football team.

I thought those two might be brothers.
