about weaving dreams out of reports that Harbaugh isn't getting along with his players. It seems like a first step in the wrong direction.

Living out here, it's been clear for awhile that Trent Baalke and JH do not get along. It's also amazing to hear all the rumblings of dissent, considering how good the 'niners have been from the day he became the coach.

Harbaugh has had spectacular success in every coaching stop. Stanford was a train wreck when he completely transformed them into the Stanford we now think of as perennial title contenders. Even more comparable to our situation, the 'niners dynasty was just a fond memory pre-Harbaugh.

He also loves Michigan. There's a show on the local sports network here called "Peruball", about Harbaugh's annual trip to Peru to do charity work in a poor community down there. While all the orphans were given 49ers gear, when it's JH's turn to sing, he busts out "Hail to the Victors" - and whenever they play sandlot football games ("Peruball"), his squad is always the "Blue Team".

He and his family clearly love living in the Bay Area (hard not to, especially if you have $$), but if his current gig does go south, I think he might just consider coming home - to fix a lot of things.

Harbaugh is very likely to win, and quickly, wherever he goes. That's his track record, and it's a damn good one. I used to believe he would inevitably be the head coach at Michigan, now I'll believe he has any interest in coaching at the college level again when he takes another college job.

This article about him losing the locker room is the PFT meets Entertainment Weekly vomit that is what pro sports journalism is these days. He's abrasive. We know that. Isn't shy about rattling cages. We know that. Leaves some whiny bitches in his wake. We know that. Do they want to put their names on their assertions? No.

Harbaugh guaranteed a win over Ohio State and then delivered one. "We don't care if the game is played in the parking lot, we'll be so jacked up." That was real "Legends" shit right there.

As bad as I want Harbaugh here, it's really nothing more than a pipe dream. I do not see he or DB getting along at all, and Harbaugh would never agree to letting him sit in on film sessions.

Besides, I don't think Harbaugh has much of an interest in coming here anyway. Even if he leaves San Francisco, there's probably 5-10 other NFL teams (Dallas, Miami, Oakland, Buffalo and Cleveland just to name a few) who would drop their current coaches in a heartbeat to grab this guy. We could compete with them money-wise, but he wants to win at the highest level. Especially after his own brother bested him in the Super Bowl.

For everyone making this idea out to be so ridiculous, there were many who believed Urban Meyer to osu was equally ridiculous a few years ago. Things like this are mysteriously transient.

In the land of anything is possible anything is possible.

Back where the rest of us live, among things of reasonable possibility, things that are Not Happening:

1. Hoke being relieved of his job mid-season for anything other than a Moeller like incident or some kind of scandal.

2. Harbaugh taking the Michigan job.

Harbaugh was part of the reason RR didn't see year 4 in ann arbor. I think people have avoided indulging the Harbaugh fantasy to protect Hoke. Now that  Hoke's with the wolves, let the fanticizing begin.

If there is a way to get Harbaugh here, Brandon has to do it. I don't even know who the alternative is.

I still want to give Brady the rest of this season and next season, but if M loses big to both MSU and OSU, he should be fired and Dave Brandon should offer Jim $8M per season.

At some point in his career. Just might not be as soon as we would want.

A few things would have to happen. First, the Michigan job would have to come open - which might happen in the near future. Second, Harbaugh would have to leave the 49ers - which might happen in the near future.

But thirdly, he would have to convince his wife to leave California, which, by all accounts, sounds like that might have to be a tremendous sell job. In all honesty, Harbaugh, if he leaves SF, might have better odds going across the bridge into Raider Country before packing up for AA.

But stranger things have happened.

For a time didn't stories come out that Belichick's lost the locker room and his act was wearing thin? clearly this means one thing. we need to get this hashtag trending on twitter right now.

I just hope Ross at some point (Dolphins Owner) steps in and helps out, he is a michigan guy who loves michigan football...at this point DB is in charge and no one can touch him, the president is too early into his job to understand our football history.

Lack of control in the nfl drives those guys nuts. Each player is its own company basically. Would love if Jim came here. Proven winner on so many levels. And honestly at this point, thats all i want. Wins

I honestly believe Brandon offered Harbaugh the job once before and Harbaugh basically accepted it before he backed out to take the Niners position for a crapload more money.

I also believe that for as much as I dislike Dave Brandon, he is first and foremost a businessman.  Businessmen don't hold grudges against people that can save their asses.  Jim Harbaugh can save his ass.

If Jim Harbaugh decides that he really doesn't like the NFL and he would rather be a Nick Saban type guy, unless Hoke can engineer a huge turnaround this season and turn this into a great year, I think the Michigan job is Harbaugh's to take or leave.  He just has to decide that this is what he wants.  But that will be tough for him to decide.  His brother has a Super Bowl ring.  He probably wants his own more than anything in the world.  Will he be able to give up pursuit of that and trade it in for chasing a college playoff ring instead?

The benefits of college coaching are numerous.  Full control of the program.  No GMs or Club Presidents meddling in your stuff.  You can have a huge talent advantage over your opponents.   You work hard in college, but it isn't the ridiculous never-sleep world of the NFL.  And with his track record of success, the odds of him coming back and being the coach at Michigan for the next 20 years (if he wanted it) are pretty high.  He could build his own legacy and his own coaching tree and be the Michigan's next Bo Schembechler.

It's all a question of what Jim Harbaugh wants.  I think the opportunity is there unless Hoke pulls off a major turnaround out of the tire fire we saw in ND last night.  I think the money will be offered.  It's just a question of whether he can walk away from the NFL.  I don't think he wants to walk away from the NFL until he wins that ring.

is a replacement already a done deal (possibly Harbaugh)? that's why Hoke looked so out of it during the game yesterday? and all the reports of problems between JH and the SF GM coming out? or is that the sunday night booze kicking in

I've heard his name mentioned several times now, but unlike his father and his brother, he has no ties to the university that I'm aware of. Does anyone know if he has any affinity for MIchigan? Would he seriously consider coming here? I've always thought he was the more level-headed brother, and I think he'd make UM tough almost immediately.

While I'd like for Harbaugh to be here next season, it does seem unlikely.

If Hoke is let go before 2015, what would people think of going after Greg Schiano -- end the coaching transition with how Bill Martin started it?

The problem might be just as much- or more- at the position coaches level.  M is sending a lot now on coordinaters who have impressive resumes.  But we seem to be let down repeatedly by whole position groups (OL, DBs, RBs, etc.).

In contrast to Head Coaches and OCs and DCs, typical college assistants don't make so  much. I wonder if it might be more cost-effective to make an upgrade this department.
