Noon Games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Didn't see a thread going so I figured I would get one going. There are a whole bunch of thoroughly mediocre games starting, but it's football so you are going to be watching anyway.

Personally, I'm mostly watching PSU and Akron. Akron looked good early, but sputtered at the goal line and derfed a chip shot field goal. PSU is not having much trouble now on offense.

Purdue, Wisky, Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers are also playing. All are playing awful teams.

I'm also interested in this Oklahoma game. I don't understand why they are ranked so high.

I dont really have a hate for PSU like some others I guess.  Most like it is due to Carr making Paterno cry the first 29495 times we played them.  Lately they have had our number but I remember how PSU was going to run over the Big 10 when they got in, and Carr's teams would smack them constantly, even when they had top 10 teams.  It was fun.

Damn. They are gonna nail this coffin here very soon.

Edit: Or not. Yahoo's gametracker really fucking blows. Anyway...

Rawls is well on his way to breaking 100. Good for him.

Akron giving Penn State a run for their money. Score really isn't indicative of how close the contest has been. I'm expecting the Lions to win, but I wouldnt be shocked if they don't, honestly. Penn State looking very beatable at home

I'm not a fan of the color commentator for the PSU-Akron game, he always seems like condescending know it all. If I recall correctly he did our game against Minny last year and I wanted to pull my hair out because of that guy.

Hackenberg looks good?  He's 20-35 for 252 yards 2TD's and 2INT's ... yet the commentators are slobbing all over his knob as if he's the second coming of Joe Montana.  Pathetic.  PSU running game IS worse than our's last year -- no doubt!

Yeah, even after last game...he looked decent, no more. A few great passes, but a lot forced his receivers to leave their feet and got crazy luck on a few deep balls. Like against UCF, they totally blew a coverage, and Hackenberg leaves it so short that the DB is able to break up the pass...except that the ball is tipped up and it falls to the WR on the ground. Boom, 40 yard gain. And the announcers praise him for not over throwing a wide open guy. Give me a break. As BISB pointed out, PSU isn't good if you don't leave their WR blitheringly wide open. Hack is now even on TDs and INTs in this season. It's lazy confirmation bias. They expect him to be really good, so they go out of their way to make it seem that way.

Watching this Purdue-CMU game, I'm thoroughly convinced Thomas Rawls is better than any running back on our roster...That being said, I still hav high hopes for the development of Green and Smith.
