Noon Games Open Thread
Didn't see a thread going so I figured I would get one going. There are a whole bunch of thoroughly mediocre games starting, but it's football so you are going to be watching anyway.
Personally, I'm mostly watching PSU and Akron. Akron looked good early, but sputtered at the goal line and derfed a chip shot field goal. PSU is not having much trouble now on offense.
Purdue, Wisky, Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers are also playing. All are playing awful teams.
I'm also interested in this Oklahoma game. I don't understand why they are ranked so high.

The Akron/Penn State game is a receiver drop fest.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:24 PM ^
Akron's QB has no pocket presence.

I'd say

Right? We talk about music in Michigan Stadium but the stuff they play is just ridiculous.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:33 PM ^
Yeah, the stuff being played at Michigan Stadium isn't nearly as bad as this. At least not yet. Hopefully DB isn't watching this game

Yea but...TurnDownForWhat
September 6th, 2014 at 1:29 PM ^
Thank goodness for Rutgers leading 31-7. All other Big Ten teams losing or in trouble.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:31 PM ^
Rutgers' Paul James is tearing it up for me for the College Football Challenge (ESPN)
September 6th, 2014 at 1:31 PM ^
It's a little bit confusing to watch K St and not see Tyler Lockett destroying everyone. But seriously, how in the hell is this team ranked? Was this just an oversight by everyone? An ISU running back just caught a pass in the middle of the field with no one within 15 yards of him.
And then ISU pulls out the reverse pass for the TD. Pretty solid pass, too. 28-13 Cyclones

Hackenberg looks a wee bit like ass.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:32 PM ^
The Christian Hackenberg experience for Penn State =/= Michigan if Shane Morris was the starter. Hell of a gun but not particularly measured yet in terms of his reads and can be messed up by a quality defensive coordinator (Akron's being solid).
September 6th, 2014 at 1:35 PM ^
Yea, not sure I buy all the Hackenberg hype. Granted, he's not getting much help from his running game or receivers, but he's not exactly dialed in on most of these throws
September 6th, 2014 at 1:38 PM ^
Well to be fair he is only a Sophomore.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
I hear you, but he's been heralded throughout the country as maybe the best Big Ten QB this year.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:33 PM ^
...nobody is afraid of you

Terry Bowden is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too conservative.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:34 PM ^
Wtf is this conservative garbage from Akron?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:36 PM ^
This guy from ISU locking down Tyler Lockett fills me with contempt.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:41 PM ^
And as soon as I say this, they switch that guy off Lockett, play 10 yards off and let Lockett in the game. Coaching.

Go 'Clones!!!!!!! Mangino-led offense has come alive.

He's been playing really well
September 6th, 2014 at 1:46 PM ^
Bowden has done a job taking advantage of the lower academic standards at Akron, good for him.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:42 PM ^
Tyler Lockett does Tyler Lockett things. 28-19 ISU and KSU is going for 2, which just annoys me. Way too early
September 6th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
WTF? That was not a catch by Lockett there (KSU v. ISU). KSU cleverly got their next play off before any review could happen. ISU crowd went bat-shit.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
Revenge of the Cupcakes!
September 6th, 2014 at 1:44 PM ^
Well, if you're going to hold you might as well make it count. KSU will now kick the extra point. I agree with others that Lockett's knee hit the pylon before he caught the ball.

I agree but it is just Tulsa and on that point why the hell is OU playing in Tulsa's crap stadium.

Bill Snyder's jacket has the BWW Bowl logo on the back, I shit you not. Did they just not get him a new jacket? Or did he just really like that bowl game?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:49 PM ^
He's just so proud of the beating he gave us.
September 6th, 2014 at 2:10 PM ^
As an older adult, Bill Snyder probably values things differently than "this younger generation". Probably eats his dinners around 4 *at* Buffalo Wild Wings and orders the seniors portion...

So is LSU then
September 6th, 2014 at 1:51 PM ^
ESPN halftime show can't take it.....More B10 struggling remarks (yes i know their true) but then the guy went on to say Rutgers is showing well but they hardly qualify as B10, What?
September 6th, 2014 at 1:54 PM ^
How many times does it need to be said to defenders?
FALL ON THE BALL.
Don't try to scoop and score. It's not rocket science.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:54 PM ^
guy tries to run with it and the classic result where the one CMU guy that's within 10 yards of the ball recovers it among 4 Purdue guys

Akron forces a turnover. Good way to start the second half.
September 6th, 2014 at 2:03 PM ^
Hackenburg sure is spending a LOT of time on the phone.

Went out about 10 last night, came back at 3:30 in the morning, and went out again at 10 or so today. Have a generator for power, but may need to buy one of those HD antennas for the game tonight.
Comcast and DTE can both fuck off.

Terry Bowden's hair is bright orange and his face bright red. Too much time in a tanning bed?

Flipping back and forth between Akron/PSU and McNeese St/Nebraska is depressing for the B1G. Not to mention Purdue getting crushed my CMU, Illinois losing to WKU, and Wisconsin scoring 2 points with 2 minutes left in the first half. Holy pathetic.
