What. Johnny Manziel strikes you as a guy who has had strict discipline in his life? From anyone?
August 19th, 2014 at 9:06 AM ^
No, but you said "told he did something wrong." It's a good day for me when I can get from dawn to dusk without being told, myself, that Johnny Manziel did something wrong.

His "mentor" in the tie looks like he's done this a hundred times before. That's probably his only job . . . tell dumb ass players they fucked up then tabulate the bill.

Johny is demonstrating that he still has his bow plucking finger with which he will volley arrows at the Redskins?

I agree ... I've long viewed Manziel as a crap shoot in the NFL.
Some (Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio) were high on him by association -- "Russell Wilson has similar build / style and he won a Super Bowl; ergo, Manziel can do it as well." I think Jon Gruden was also positive on Manziel.
The difference is Wilson is a smart, level-headed young man. Manziel not as much yet. Perhaps he'll settle down, though early evidence of that is inconclusive.
His hot-dogging at Texas A&M was entertaining for college football, but I never saw it playing well in the NFL. The defenses are too good ... his room for improvisation much less.
I think in the NFL the QB role is more about smart execution first, then athleticism. In college a QB can get by on athleticism. Not in the NFL ... the QB there better have the proper mind for the game to succeed.

Man, we've got a lot of crotchety people on this board. You can't both complain that Hoke never says anything interesting and also rag on someone like Manziel. At least interesting things happen when Manziel plays and talks.
August 19th, 2014 at 7:46 AM ^
are you reaching. You came on this Board saying " I am going to find something to disagree with RIGHT NOW" and clicked until you found something. Mission accomplished.
Johnny Manziel flips of the Washington Redskin bench and it somehow, some way relates to Brady Hoke's media relations?

Man, read my previous posts. I don't troll. This is something I legitimately think. People, including many Michigan fans from what I've seen here and elsewhere, like to have it both ways when it comes to the way sport types interact with the game and the media. Personally, I don't particularly like Johnny Football overall, but I like that despite numerous attempts to crush his spirit, he still plays football and carries about his business on his own terms.

I was skeptical initially, but I'd give so much to see Hoke run onto the field every Saturday, home and away, flipping the double-bird. That'd be the best.

Ryan Clark of the Redskins said that a statement from the Redskins sideline was made something like, "This ain't college anymore and people here are faster than you". Clark, as I am too, is paraphrasing because of course there were probably a few choice words and statements sprinkled in there too.

The Washington bench must have ignored the fact that the 'Skins would lose to 'Bama, Auburn, and LSU and finish 5-3 in the SEC West.

Well, per USA Today, Mike Pettine was not altogether pleased (LINK):
"It does not sit well," Pettine said of the rookie's loss of composure after the Browns' 24-23 loss at FedEx Field. "I was informed right after the game. And it's disappointing to me because we talk about being poised, being focused. You have to be able to maintain your poise. ... That's a big part of all football players, especially your quarterback.
He didn't indicate that this would factor into the ultimate decision as to who will start, but there was definitely some unhappiness from the Browns' staff.

Who cares if he flipped the Redskins off? I like it. I flip people off, a lot of people need to get flipped off. Seriously, OMG he flipped someone off. SOOO CRAZZZZYYY.
August 19th, 2014 at 8:31 AM ^
I absolutely hate the media, and I get no media attention. I can't imagine how much BS Manziel has to deal with because he likes playing a game. Who the hell cares what he does in his personal life, not my problem, not your problem. He's not hurt anyone as far as I know. P.S. This is me venting about the current state of the medial/social media.
