the need to be the first to break news is ridiculous, seems like 60% of the time the report is just flat out wrong. reporting on nothing just to get the website views/clicks/shares/retweets/blog posts. and then when people post the offical story everybody is like, OMG this is soooo five minutes ago nice repost brah the search bar is over there --->
60% of the time, it works, everytime!
30% of statistics are untrue
50% are made up.
...but there's only a 10% chance that 50% of statistics are fabricated. If we charted the problem on a Pareto, we would find that 80% of the problems arise from 20% of what ESPN flashes on the screen in the vain hope of providing insight. Also, it is quite evident that 4/3rds of people have trouble with fractions.

I'm such a noob
Always go to other peoples funerals or else they won't come to yours.
I'm not sure I see a functional difference between "signed" and "hasn't signed yet but will." Sounds like grownups going "nuh-UH!" at each other like second-graders.
But the one functional difference is if he had signed there is no turning back--final decision. I think it would be important to have that part right before reporting it.
It almost feels like the agent who fed the original story wanted that out there in a quid pro quo.
That functional difference is why it's false.
I don't know. Is there a functional difference between "having signed" and "will sign" a marriage license?
If the wedding is scheduled for next week, the participants are still going to get to jointly file their taxes next year, so no, not really.
Unless, of course, someone gets cold feet.
Although I tend to agree, it's the news outlets job to report what they know. If the kids wouldn't allow them to know anything, then their announcement wouldn't be ruined. For example, GRIII could have made his announcement, and then signed with an agent (our found an agent to sign with) and his announcement wouldn't have been ruined.
The problem with them reporting what they "know" is that most of the time they don't actually know it and it turns out to be untrue. Why would GRIII announce first? Wouldn't you want to make your decisions and take care of the business that actually matters before worrying about whether the media is aware of your intentions or not?
Because speculation = $$$$ It creates a buzz which causes people to act irrational and search for answers. The more clicks a site receives, the more money it generates...

Michigan State announces Gary Harris is headed to the NBA
What do you have in mind for the big 25?
you guessed it. Downvote.
+1 Incredible Patience and Thoughtfulness; posting four times a year.
Nice! On the flip side, when a couple guys got kicked off of the Michigan hockey team a few years back they skated in our league at the Cube. I robbed one of them (the name escapes me right now) on a breakaway with a reaching back glove save, which was my nice highlight sticking out amongst the 5 or 6 goals he scored.
Fair, but Tim and Trey were far more productive in college than GRIII ever was. Outside of "being really athletic" and "dunking" what skills has GRIII shown?
Burke was obviously much more productive than just about everyone else who plays college basketball. I actually don't think there was much separation between Hardaway and Robinson's output -- it just always felt with Robinson like he could/should be doing a lot more than he was.
Here are the stat lines from their final seasons at Michigan:
Robinson- 13.1 ppg/.532 eFG%, 4.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, .9 spg
Hardaway- 14.5 ppg/.516 eFG%, 4.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, .7 spg
And career (2 years for Robinson, 3 for Hardaway):
Robinson- 12 ppg/.567 eFG%, 4.9 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1 spg
Hardaway- 14.3 ppg/.507 eFG%, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, .7 spg
I think it's possible that Robinson's game will translate better to the NBA than it did here, but I'm also not sure what to expect. He seemed reluctant at times (though not late in the season), and it's hard to suddenly see him being assertive with grown-ass men around.
No NBA team is going to allow itself to be influenced by a college player's father, unless that father owns the team.
serious answer: no
May the source be with you
Well I'm glad Gary Harris is going pro. MSU should be down (compared to their norm) next year
A good friend of mine is very close to Josh Bartelstein. Bartelstein told him that Mcgary as of right now is likely going to the NBA, but Bartelstein is trying to talk him out of it. I saw the text messages myself and I am very confident Bartelstein was being legit. Being a journalism major, I wouldn't post anything on here if it was erroneous.
So is the journalism thing the reason why you never posted until now? Your story is so full of shit. I'm sure Bartelstein was texting your friend about this. Your story is less believable that this:
Who's Josh Bartelstein?
I can't tell if you are serious

I googled him and apparantly he was a bench warmer from 2 years ago? Does everyone know who this guy is for some reason?
I'm less skeptical of you than Leaders and Best (the guy above me) is, but you've obviously missed the first rule of journalism, which is to only report things that make your readers happy. This doesn't make me happy.
Being a journalism major, I wouldn't post anything on here if it was erroneous.Well, if you're claiming to be a Michigan student and a journalism major, that's definitely erroneous - we don't have a J-school.
I attend the University of Wisconsin, hence the name "michiganbadger".
Drew Sharp, is that you? You sly dog!
I never said that McGary was going pro. All I did was report what Bartelstein factually said via text message. Take it for what it's worth and if you don't consider it to be of any relevant significance, disregard it and move on bro.
Bartelstein didn't text your imaginary friend. If you were a real journalism major, you would know that anonymous sources are a huge faux pas. Hedging your position makes nothing you wrote verifiable, and putting it in your first post in 7 months lends you little credibility.
