OT- Glasgow/Sewell Block on Gibbs TD
Fortunately, I had the Glasgow angle to make this a little less OT (though his block was executed to perfection as well), but the work by Sewell is what I think folks on this board can appreciate like few others.
The outside DT here isn't just shaded to Sewell's inside shoulder, he's all but lined up in the gap and slanting inside. Glasgow washes slanting inside DT four yards down the line. Somehow, Sewell is not only able to get the outside DT turned and rooted out, he comes off the initial block with perfect timing to also get a material piece of Diaby.

Ugh, NFL won't let me embed the video. But if you play it, you'll get the best view at 0:31.

I was going to try to embed it too and saw the message about the NFL blocking it.
I was also going to comment that it is extra special that he scored on Antoine Winfield Jr. who went to OSU, but he actually went to MN. Antoine Winfield Sr. went to OSU. I'm old.

Ha, I had that same Winfield reaction! You're old, but not alone.

Its just such a perfectly called and executed play all around, a thing of beauty.
They catch the Bucs slanting strong side, and expertly sell the strong side run. The Bucs' weakside backer completely short circuits, but even if he hadn't, Decker and Ragnow get great releases to the second level to pin their guys outside. At worse, Gibbs is running through an arm tackle near the LOS for a nice gain. Sewell's heroics and Gibbs' jets turn it into six.

And St. Brown makes it a TD by maintaining his block on his corner. That guy has a real chance to tackle inside the 5.
The Lions remind me of a holy crap everybody stays around forever Michigan (you know, kinda like 2023 :) ). Duos, great WR blocking, run to pass, etc. Obviously Michigan is a bit more "best defense in the world" approach as well. :)

Hopefully, Sewell is teaching his family member well! :)

Bring Glasgow back and draft Zinter. Keep that OL chugging.

Sewell just absolutely mauled him.

I didn't notice that during the game - what a pair of blocks! Sewell is an animal out there...

There's a reason he's first-team All-Pro this season. Sewell has been masterful all season.
Lions OL, Michigan OL, just things of beauty. And the Lions have a real shot at San Fran this week.

I think our chances Sunday rely on the DL and more importantly Hutch, if Hutch figures out a way to have a career game and really get after purdy I think there is a chance he is raddled enough for us to score enough to win.

I just don’t think you can pin the success of a team, especially in the playoffs vs the best team in the conference on one player. Hutchinson has showed out these past few games and has come up big destroying drives for opposing teams but at some point, he’s going to need help.
I think if James Houston can finally come back and help apply pressure on obvious passing downs, that could free Hutchinson up as well but that’s easier said than done against the collection of weapons SF has.

I heard this morning that the Lions DL is back to full strength. If that's the case, look for Hutch to feast in San Fran.
I posted in another group that "the Lions chances on Sunday depend on the OL, DL, and secondary. If the OL does its normal solid job, then we can score. If the DL gets after Purdy and the secondary plays well, then we can win."

This team has so much young talent. Sewell and Hutch are arguably top 3 already at their respective positions. Holmes is setting up for a nice decade of competitive Lions football. Would love to see them draft JJ and let him marinate behind Goff like J. Love

Sewell is fast, strong, has good technique, and a mean streak. He will go down as the best lineman in Detroit Lions history. I would not put it past him to be the best tackle in NFL history before his career is over.

I had a great view of the run. Gibbs is elite!

Sewell is likely already the best OT in the NFL. Hope he stays in Detroit his entire career.
