Kyle McCord to Syracuse
Former Ohio State QB Kyle McCord official to Syracuse.
As an Orangeman and Michigan Man, I love to see it times two.
Also, Michigan 30 Ohio State 24

McCord was one play away from having the chance to be a Buckeye Legend. I hope future recruits are paying attention. It's far easier to see this than to look back 1478 days to their last win over Michigan.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
Every Buckeye loves MHJ, but - Marv could have been much more aggressive about breaking up either of the INTs.
December 17th, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
It never looked like McCord and Third Base had a good relationship. Between that and just in general the Buckeyes did not seem to be having a lot of fun this season out there, perhaps its a cultural problem. I mean, look at CJ Stroud... he went from looking fairly dour at tOSU to being mostly likely ROY in the NFL and showing a lot of joy in doing so.
I hope for the best for Mr McCord.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:55 PM ^
I think showing a lot of joy in whatever you’re doing comes naturally when one moves out of Ohio
December 17th, 2023 at 9:45 AM ^
With a special thanks to those who support OSU and hate Michigan with all their heart who had to text him their feelings on emotional alcohol-laden nights...
December 17th, 2023 at 10:25 AM ^
Cuse will have a lot of energy with Brown in 1st year, could finish 2nd in the ACC next year, make the playoff, and then McCord has legend status for decades. Not a bad deal.
Sure beats having OSU fans rip him publicly for 12 months and very little chance next year to win a championship if MJH leaves.
Is there be a better landing spot than Cuse?
December 17th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
There is exactly and precisely 0 chance that OSU does not have a solid QB ready to go next year, who is playing great football come end of year. I wouldn't get too excited. Remember, Braxton Miller, who nearly nearly Michigan as a true freshman, got hurt, and that paved the way for JT Barrett to have a record breaking career.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:23 AM ^
Lololol now that's irony! He's like I hate BUCKEYES!!! From a Bucknut to an Orangeman hell who'd a thunk it???
December 17th, 2023 at 9:25 AM ^
*looks at Syracuse's 2024 schedule*
Yeah, I would choose that one over the Big Ten too, if I were him....
December 17th, 2023 at 9:32 AM ^
Unpopular opinion, but I actually think he's a solid QB.
He made some great throws against us, even when it wasn't his NFL WRs doing all the work.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:46 AM ^
Not sure why that is unpopular...think most here agree that he's a solid QB. He wasn't the reason they lost.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:11 AM ^
How many defensive stops in the second half did the Buckeyes have?
Knowles is a genius.. Blame it all on McCord..
I love how Buckeye fans think. And, every Buckeye player who has commented has said McCord got a raw deal.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:36 AM ^
LOL!! Buckeye fans were salty that Michigan fans were loving him, and so they turned on him. When he lost, they blew up - while we started giving him a lot of credit. Now those OSU fans have to wonder what the hell just happened! We’re in their fucking heads so deep, and rent free!!
December 17th, 2023 at 9:47 AM ^
Unpopular amongst drunk Bucknuts, fer sure, but I think the rest of us think he's pretty good. Good luck at the 'Cuse Kyle! Hope Marvin follows in your footsteps!
December 17th, 2023 at 10:01 AM ^
This is only an unpopular opinion to Ohio mouthbreathers that take shits in Pringles cans.
December 17th, 2023 at 11:11 AM ^
At the moment, OSU is not upgrading from a Honda. Still some QBs out there in the portal but I haven't seen them connected to anyone other than Cam Ward who appears to be headed somewhere in the ACC and state of Florida.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
I thought he might be an All-American if he stayed long enough. Maybe he will break through like Donovan McNabb but as a passer more than runner.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:40 PM ^
That’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:55 AM ^
I'm glad he transferred outside the B1G. Expect a Syracuse resurgence.
December 17th, 2023 at 9:59 AM ^
He should do very well there. Not sure about Syracuse’s skill position, but new HC Fran Brown seems to have generated some excitement early on.
I hope he does well. He received a lot of grief for failing to do what CJ Stroud also could not do.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:41 PM ^
Gadsden (WR) is a beast.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
While I feel for McCord, this is delicious from a Michigan perspective. The guy had an excellent year but gets run out of town for losing to Michigan. We're breaking them.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
Pretty solid get for Syracuse.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:13 AM ^
It looks like McCord is about “half as good” as CJ Stroud.
CJ’s record against Michigan is 0-2, while McCord’s is only 0-1.
December 17th, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
Some might say he’s twice as good.
Half as many losses as Stroud. Not sayin, just sayin
December 17th, 2023 at 10:35 AM ^
And so ends my hope of Michigan taking him...but somebody think of the trolling!
December 17th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
Actually, I wanted McCord to come to Michigan, lead them to another victory over the Buckeyes and he then gives the Buckeye fans the double bird leaving the stadium
December 17th, 2023 at 10:44 AM ^
Thought Nebraska had that in the bag.
Now imagine if they lose out on Raiola too, after a week or so of feeling like their hopes could finally go through the roof. Well, on second thought, if that all happens then I guess that’s just what it’s like to be a Nebraska fan.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:53 AM ^
Not going to lie, I had to look up who Syracuse hired to be their head coach (since I knew that the Dino Babers era finally reached its inevitable end). I can't say I know the first thing about Fran Brown.
Given everything else about Syracuse I have to assume McCord is receiving a nice lil' bag and I extend my congratulations to him for whatever he's getting. Good luck, young man, and enjoy the upstate NY winters.
December 17th, 2023 at 10:58 AM ^
As someone who has lived near there, i can say the winters there aren’t much different than winters in Michigan or New Wisconsin or New Hampshire. it’s really not appreciably different, especially now that climate change is making the country less snowy. The area is nice for most of the year.
i’d much rather live there than in the fetid swamp that is the Deep South. Or in the ugly hellhole called Ohio.
December 17th, 2023 at 11:17 AM ^
As a native Syracusan with a degree from S.U. this is great news. As a Michigan grad it brings double delight. Good work by Fran Brown, who is roping in transfers and recruits from across the NJ area. Also good news for Michigan as recruiting in NJ just got a little tougher for Rutgers.

December 17th, 2023 at 11:24 AM ^
He will win the heisman this year now. Incredible how much better osu qb’s get when they transfer out.
December 17th, 2023 at 11:59 AM ^
And the paper in Columbus doing a semi hit piece on him saying it was about money and not wanting to compete as if why would anyone not want to play for ohio. Even the media is entitled out there and schill for that program.
December 17th, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
This is part of what makes Ohio different than Michigan. The media down there is part of the cult. The entire state is indoctrinated. Kids at public schools across the state learn the nut head fight song from the schools. Fans at Cleveland Cavaliers games ritualistically boo a maize block M that’s presented to them with no relevance at all to the game actually happening. People in Ohio brag that their OSU degree can get them a job anywhere in Ohio- that’s their loftiest ambition. It’s a sad, sorry place.
That kind of insular jingoism has its advantages, but once the deluge gets going, they’ll all turn on each other. Delusion is a helluva drug, and the hangover hits hard
December 17th, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Onondaga County is notably lacking in billionaires. If there are any NIL benefits for McCord to gather, it most likely consists of a nice 4x4 SUV or truck from a local car dealer. Which he is going to need as soon as he settles in town. Maybe some merino wool base layers, too.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:01 PM ^
Pretty shocking landing spot for Kyle. Maybe Cuse is on the rise with the new hire.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
Seems like McCord could have done better than Syracuse. The pro for him is that they have a respectable but weak schedule. Had he gone to Nebraska he would have had some tough games/losses. At Syracuse he could get them into the playoffs and be a hero.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:30 PM ^
Wow, that has to be the worst Power 5/4 schedule I've ever seen. It makes Michigan's 2022 and 2023 slates look Herculean.
December 17th, 2023 at 3:15 PM ^
You should take a look at West Virginia's schedule for this season (2023), it is an absolute dumpster fire of a schedule and the only reason that they had a "good" season (8-4 regular season record) which saved their embattled head coach's job.
Their schedule included:
- Duquesne
- Pitt
- Texas Tech
- TCU
- Houston
- UCF
- BYU
- Cincinnati
- Baylor
That is one FCS team, a god-awful ACC team, three mediocre to bad Big 12 teams and the four newly promoted teams who were group of 5 teams last season and still have group of 5 caliber talent on their rosters so those were like four extra non-conference games.
Only two of those teams listed made it to bowl games (UCF and Texas Tech) and they both finished the regular season 6-6.
They played three good opponents (Penn St., Oklahoma and Okie State) and got pounded into a fine powder by two of them.
December 18th, 2023 at 7:32 AM ^
Top 5 defenses will not be picking his passes. This should help his NFL cash bag.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
Wow, 0 top 25 teams on that schedule.
December 17th, 2023 at 2:59 PM ^
And he gets to play half his games in a climate-controlled dome, which is what Day's offensive philosophy has been training him for.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:14 PM ^
Wow. Just amazing at so many levels. Go Blue !
December 17th, 2023 at 12:14 PM ^
I remain confused when I read through threads about how down OSU is. They were a missed field goal from a national title. They fixed their abysmal defense and were driving to try and win against a 12-0 Michigan team on the road. If that’s falling fast, sign me up!
I will continue to argue that it’s more exciting as a Michigan fan to appreciate how incredible it is that Michigan has beaten some great OSU teams as opposed to arguing that Ryan Day’s beard means he’s soft.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:35 PM ^
It is not his beard dyeing that makes him soft; he just is. Saves any argument you may encounter although I think it is nationally known.
December 17th, 2023 at 12:22 PM ^
Seems like a good move for both parties. If I recall correctly, the Further Review of our defense in the Game pointed out that McCord played a solid game leading a pretty sophisticated passing offense. Yeah, the interceptions. You know who else threw untimely pick-6s in games (some of which Michigan won, some lost)? Wilton Speight (twice), Cade McNamara, and JJ McCarthy.
December 17th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
F**k "the" ohio state university... that is all..GO BLUE
