Friday Night Football Thread

Can't figure what to do with Washington-Oregon. Part of me thinks Huskies keep it close and ball out. Part of me thinks Oregon "dominates" in thr fashion of a comfortable 12-18 pt victory.
December 1st, 2023 at 7:59 PM ^
I really want Washington to pull this out. M's d line would feast.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:06 PM ^
Yep. Washington has some crazy strengths, but their weakness plays right into our strengths.
Oregon looks like us, and Bo Nix is scary: accurate and mobile and a play maker.
Give me Washington, Chaos Indiana with a finished basement.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
I think their offense against us would turn into MSU's strategy to spam fades and hope for the best.
December 1st, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
I love the rise of the "finished basement" comment.

Blanton's and Penelope Barrel Strength 9 year 🥃.
Oops, thought this was the Friday night drinking thread.
Definitely watching the Oregon/Washington game.

Pac 12 Championship is at the "World's Largest Roomba."

Think of the gargantuan wet hairballs that would clog it . . .
December 1st, 2023 at 8:06 PM ^
I put money on Washington +10. Can someone explain to me how undefeated Washington goes from beating Oregon earlier this fall to a 10 point dog now?
I get Oregon has looked good last several games, and Washington less dominant.
Is there anything else driving that spread?
December 1st, 2023 at 8:08 PM ^
Because in a sane rational world, Washington would have 2 losses right now.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:09 PM ^
Penix might be injured
December 1st, 2023 at 8:36 PM ^
Penix gets worked hard

Especially when Beavers are involved…

ESPN barely mentions Michigan game. Fucking ridiculous
December 1st, 2023 at 8:13 PM ^
I wonder who is behind that decision? Because that was incredibly petty of ESPN.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:13 PM ^
Kirk didn’t want too…😩
December 1st, 2023 at 8:11 PM ^
I find Fowler and Herbie to be boring announcers. They both have the same sort of disinterested monotone approach to the game. You don't want both announcers to be "Klatt" in tone, you need at least a little "Gus." This is an entertainment event.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
Agreed. Fowler has never been convincing nor well-informed in the booth. Herbie sold out 15 years ago. Herbie's no longer a legit, detailed expert on college football.

Herbstreit also seems to think he needs to fill every second of every minute with his voice, regardless of whether there is actually something to say.
And what he says is rarely insightful.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:25 PM ^
I've never liked Fowler as PBP, although he did improve slightly after his first year on the job. Thought he was good on Gameday, and with the way Reece Davis acted this year, I think he's sorely missed there now.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:36 PM ^
Fowler was better on Gameday.
Is it me, or does it seem like he screams more doing PBP the last couple years.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:13 PM ^
Do not ever underestimate the power of the Penix.

That Heisman House Charles Woodson and Eddie George commercial has even more symbolic meaning now.
Love it.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
Eddie Gourge looks like he needs to add a few salads to the menu.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:26 PM ^
A picture is worth a thousand.... million words!!! The look on Eddie's face is priceless 😀
December 1st, 2023 at 8:26 PM ^
When I was a child I loved the Tennessee Titans and Eddie George was my favorite player. Shame on me.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:34 PM ^
He's a decent guy.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:43 PM ^
I think he’s a great sport to do that commercial. Of course, there are $$$. But I get the feeling he doesn’t really need it.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:47 PM ^
No shame in that. I, and many other readers of this blog, grew up loving Chris Spielman. Hell, I still do.

Of the non-Michigan games this weekend, the Washington/Oregon game is the most important to Michigan.
The winner of the Oregon/Washington game will likely (out of all the countless scenarios) get the #3 seed, UM will likely get the #2 seed, which means the winner of OR/UW will play UM in the semi-finals.
IMO, if you are a UM fan, you are ROOTING HEAVILY FOR WASHINGTON tonight. Oregon is red-hot. Perhaps one of the top 3 teams in the country (along with Georgia and UM.). Washington, despite having Penix, one of the best QBs in the country, has looked vulnerable in almost every game they have played after they defeated Oregon.
TD;LR Michigans fans need to root for Washington tonight.

Personally I think Washington is the better team.

At least Oregon isn’t wearing those nasty speckled hen uniforms.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:15 PM ^
Electric atmosphere. Can't wait for this game.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:17 PM ^
Prediction: Oregon 38, Washington 31. It will stay fairly close because spaz-boy Lanning is good for a couple of emotionally-motivated stupid decisions.

Penix is the anti-Allar / McCord. He does not fall off a cliff under pressure. That's not something we are used to.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
Gotta catch those picks if you wanna win.

SC hired UCLA’s DC Lynn.
Yikes.

Is that OL #55 wearing shorts?
I've never seen an OL with their knees exposed like that. Usually they have braces.

He’s got the bare midriff going too. Interesting look.

Just watched him do a lead-block pull to the right side in slow motion and his gut was mesmerizing in a very gross way.
IIRC Zeke Elliott tried making this a fad in the mid-2010’s and something happened where he wasn’t allowed to do it anymore. But at least he had abdominal muscles.
