He is a bust its ok. See Olave and Wilson.  How many years are we going to say "give it time".  Other teams beat writers at training cap during joint practices say the same thing - he drops a lot and is inconsistent.  Dan Campbell has immediate trust in LaPorta 4 weeks into his first training camp and zero in JaMo after a full year of being healthy. Listen to the comments coming out from Goff Campbell etc when they compare the 2.  See this trade - you don't trade for a WR4(5) when your former 1st round pick can now be targeted 6x a game vs 2x and you are like "nah".

His QB doesn't trust him.  End of the story there.

Holmes has been excellent overall in drafting - it happens and its ok to say bust.  Every team has busts early.  Where the Lions have failed for decades is not first round but 2nd through fourth while the Steeler Packer types reload.  Now we have a guy who can find those guys in the latter rounds - you will bust every so often in the first, that's the NFL.  JaMo will get Okudah'd either this off season or next.  His salary is outsized due to his draft slot on top of it all. Amon is making far less!

Just pretend Amon was 12th overall and Jamo was a 4th rounder and it will be easier to accept.

I have no problem calling a bust, a bust. I just think it is premature to say that. The fact that Wilson and Olave are doing well has no impact on Jamos standing, just your feelings. He is essentially a rookies this year and not every player develops the same way.

I don't think this trade says anything about Jamo. The lions have 5 active receivers, 2 are slots and 1 is a 7th round rookie with 1 career reception. They got a good player for cheap at a position that sees random injuries. I really don't think getting DPJ is going to impact how many touches Jamo gets a game.

At this point he's also "played" 10 games (only "played" because he would play ~10 snaps a game last year) and calling a player a bust and wanting him out of town this quickly is absurd, especially when he has shown flashes. Davante Adams only caught ~50% of his passes his rookie year, should he have been moved on from immediately?

Interesting that my Browns were only able to get a 6th back.  He had his moments here but for whatever reason never became the true #2 guy across from Cooper, he wasnt targeted very much that's for sure.

Oh well, my post had a much prettier picture.  Actually getting that stupid thing in there is what took me so long.

Interesting, glad to see him in Detroit!

I live in Cleveland, so have been following him closely in Cleveland. He's shown flashes, and people keep looking to him break out, but he hasn't consistently strung together good games. He's also had extremely inconsistent and variable QB play in his time. I'll be excited to see him in Detroit with a consistent QB.

Browns fan here.  He had been completely shut out of the offense this year despite playing the most snaps out of any Browns WR.  He's still good but the Lions WR room is pretty stacked.

Reynolds is pretty underrated and a solid WR2 but really it's Amon and Reynolds so I wouldn't say stacked.  Kalif is a solid WR3 but not exactly Tee Higgins out there.  It would be a bit unfair if they had a true bigger bodied "go up and get it" outside WR1 like AJ Brown / Chase type.

LaPorta looks like he is going to be the man as well.

DPJ is a nice piece to have, especially at the low low price of almost nothing.  I doubt that anyone is going to have big expectations for him, he'll be a role player and anything he can add will be a bonus.

I'd be curious as to who was out there that the Lions should have pursued.  Ambivalent about Chase Young, while he is undoubtedly a good player I don't know that he's a big difference maker for this team.  It's a testimonial to what a great job Brad Holmes has done that this roster has talent and depth to the point that it's not easy to come up with major upgrade ideas.

MGoBrowns fan here.... sad to see him go, but with our insistence on playing shitty QBs he wasn't getting the ball. He showed flashes. Hopefully he gets more consistent playing time and targets.

Marvin Jones was released for ( his) personal reasons. Didn't give up much for a local kid with experience to take his roster spot. The team chemistry is very important.

Also many of the Lions on IR must be close to coming back, especially with the by week coming up, not to make any other moves.

For the price, I have to say, I love one of my favorite Michigan players ever coming to the Lions.  I don't know how much he'll contribute, but it is good to have The People's Jones back in his hometown.

The Lions should of drafted him in the 2020 draft, instead of drafting slow a$$ Quintez Cephus (4.62, forty time at the NFL Combine) out of Wisconsin.  Cephus did 3 years with the Lions and now he's out of the league.  What the hell were they thinking of????

Donovan Peoples-Jones (4.48) was faster and had better hands... to me.
