Michigan Recruiting, why so quiet?
Is it just me or is it a little too quiet on the recruiting front? I haven’t heard a peep of new offers for 2024 kids, coaches evaluating new prospects/on the road recruiting, literally anything during this cake walk non conference schedule. Are they even trying or are they putting all of their eggs in the 2023 basket. Feel like this is the last dance for Jim and everyone else given the fact nobody is even trying to recruit for the future. Hope I’m wrong

Yeesh bad post but here goes:
- Its the 2024 cycle now, not the 2023 cycle
- They’ve self-imposed a two week ban on recruit visits to home games, so no visitors
- They currently have 27 commits in the 2024 class, so from here to signing day will only be moves made in the background to land huge targets or upkeep on current commits
- There is plenty of activity in the 2025 class but you’re not following it

Points are broken but they need to be fixed so that OP can take a break from posting threads for a while. Please save us from this recent round of “is it just me?” posting.
September 15th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
He's got a -85 going so looks like the points are working fine now!!!!
September 15th, 2023 at 7:30 PM ^
Upvote/downvotes are still working, but points aren’t being applied to users. His -85 in this thread isn’t impacting the 300-odd points he has overall is what he’s saying.

On another thread someone posted on the true nature of various prefaces:
- "To be honest ..." was inevitably followed by a lie
- "With all due respect ...." followed by something disrespectful
- "No pun intended..." is always intentional
- "No offense but ..." is followed by something offense.
Can we add, "is it just me or ...' is almost always followed by something of such an order of goofy magnitude that it will in fact be the sole domain of the poster?

There are things you can complain about with respect to this coaching staff, but trying is not one of them.
I don't think this is going to end well for you, OP. May God have mercy on your soul.

Seriously, every time I re-read this I laugh until I turn Brian Kelly purple and nearly pass out.

I gotta imagine most of the coaches and even the recruits are PREPARING FOR GAMES THIS WEEK.

Nearly a month ago i posted about several crystal balls predicting Jacob and Jerod Smith flipping to Kentucky. So far this has not happened and their HS coach denied it was happening. Interestingly, Kentucky just took a 4th Edge in this class out of their 17 commits. Would Jacob go there as a 5th edge or would he be asked to switch positions?
September 15th, 2023 at 9:09 AM ^
I also noticed this. It feels like if the flip was going to happen, it would've happened already and UK wouldn't have taken another edge? Also some chatter that Michigan is working on re-flipping Elias Rudolph from Miami

What about Chiles? Florida is terrible..I would hope still working on getting him back
September 15th, 2023 at 2:55 PM ^
Things can change, of course, but I think I recall it being stated by some recruiting insider (Webb?) that UM would not be continuing their pursuit of Chiles.
September 14th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
The coaches have a stomach ache so they can't recruit right now
September 15th, 2023 at 12:04 AM ^
If you want to look at recruiting disasters, look down the road in EL. You got the BoT saying "they're a brand new MSU," meanwhile Mork is bringing back the Spartan walk to the stadium 🏟 to "honor history." And all these players looking for a way to avoid watching MSU's butthole fart into its mouth while the mouth is telling everyone it brushed its teeth. Complete wreck.

FWIW, Bryce Underwood appears to be visiting again this weekend to Colorado. Looks like a lot of smoke over there.
September 15th, 2023 at 12:24 AM ^
If he wants to go to the WWE Football Program, let him. I feel good about Jadyn Davis.
September 15th, 2023 at 1:03 AM ^
Well that sucks, but they do have a lot of hype right now.
I have to think what JJ is doing is also really impressive to Bryce, but maybe it's not as appealing as 500 yards in the game or whatever. I'm sure he's taking a notice though and I'm Michigan is doing the best they possibly can.

One consideration is the better Deion does, the more likely he is to get a "better" job elsewhere (probably not until after next year). So would Underwood be committing to Colorado, or to Deion wherever he is? Maybe that uncertainty could help Michigan, although Harbaugh has a fair amount of uncertainty as well to be honest.
September 15th, 2023 at 4:48 AM ^
Deion seems to be following his kids, so next stop, pros?
September 15th, 2023 at 4:56 AM ^
Good point... and I suppose being a 2025 recruit, he can wait and see how it all plays out.
September 15th, 2023 at 6:22 AM ^
Is he following his kids or are they following him..
I could see him using underwood as his ticket to the NFL. But honestly I'm not clear that deion is an NFL coach. His style doesn't seem like it would be a fit... but I'm no expert and it appears everyone sells him short, so who knows
September 15th, 2023 at 8:54 AM ^
One thing that amuses me. Deion Sanders comes into his first P5 head coaching job with tremendous fanfare, taking over a 1-11 team and bringing his son, a legit talented star QB along with him. He wins his first TWO games over a TCU team that’s a shell of last year’s team and a year zero wet fart of a Nebraska team and now the popular consensus is that he’s the next coming of Nick Saban and is sure to bolt for another higher profile job next year.
I know this speaks more to our culture’s 5 second attention span than anything else, but can we all please pump the brakes on Deion a bit and save our judgement until after his team has played teams with a pulse? I seem to remember this premature overreaction to another (former) Colorado head coach who talked a big game but couldn’t actually back it up.
I’m not saying Deion is a bad coach either. But given the small sample size, I can’t see how anyone could really know how good he is yet.
September 15th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
Seems like the thing to do is give him a 10 year, $95M contract.
September 15th, 2023 at 2:45 PM ^
Your take is bad. Mel Tucker had no HC experience before his one season at Colorado, so he had no real track record as a coach or recruiter. Deion's Jackson State teams went 23-3 after the COVID year, and he pulled the number-one overall recruit. There's really no similarity between these guys.
Honestly, if you want to reach for an analogue, Deion's coaching career so far looks like Harbaugh's (just with a different style).
September 15th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
I also suggested perhaps we should be more measured in regard to Colorado's success and got virtually beheaded for it.
September 15th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
Did his kids choose Colorado before he agreed to coach there?
September 15th, 2023 at 6:24 AM ^
Underwood would just go with him to wherever. I think if fsu was struggling that would be the obvious spot. But I can't see him going to Florida... LSU? Who else is a dormant giant? Maybe if Texas flops again? But they seem to have put it together
September 15th, 2023 at 7:49 AM ^
A&M is the answer…
September 15th, 2023 at 8:31 AM ^
Who else is a dormant giant?
Well, Rutgers started football, and they've been dormant for a while.
September 15th, 2023 at 10:26 AM ^
absolutely no reason for him to leave Boulder as long as he has administrative support.
September 15th, 2023 at 10:56 AM ^
"no reason for him to leave Boulder as long as he had administrative support." - this is an interesting perspective - and, candidly, not one that I've thought about much.
My assumption has been - he'll leave for greener pastures - a "bigger" opportunity - which my mind associates with a "larger" program - perhaps FSU (though that's not looking like an opportunity today) - an SEC school (like Texas A&M) - wherever, it would be a more visible, marquee program.
Now, what has changed? Colorado's not going to be in the Pac-12 after this season - they'll be in the Big 12. AND, the CFP is expanding. Boulder's a great town - recruits may (or will) love it - fantastic scenery and location. Winning in the Big 12 will be easier than the SEC or B1G - and, I just don't see him leaving Boulder for a B1G school - again, that's on me.
So, he can build Colorado - he appears to have the administration's support. He'll be in a conference where the competition isn't as strong - it could be an ideal setting / environment.
September 15th, 2023 at 5:38 AM ^
He's uncommitted.
If I were a highly sought after recruit, I would attend a different school every weekend that didn't interfere with my own team's schedule. that says nothing about his level of interest in Michigan. Staying home or attending a Michigan is a wasted opportunity unless it's AN Ohio St game. He can and does visit Michigan any day of the week.
Colorado/USC might be a good game to watch up close but will his schedule allow it?
September 15th, 2023 at 9:21 AM ^
Think I saw he rescheduled from USC/Colorado to this weekend because of Belleville's homecoming, so looks like the schedule, for now doesn't allow.

I'd like to visit Colorado too! Especially if I was an uncommitted QB prospect.
