I can do the opposite - with Dazed and Confused and Ben Affleck. Your question is a lot tougher.
Actually - I gotchu; Marry Me was so unbelievably stupid that it's one of the only movies I've ever walked out of early, but I absolutely love Owen Wilson.
I think every movie Ben Affleck has ever been in would’ve been better if his character was played by anyone else. Except daredevil, there was no rescuing that piece of hot garbage.
Good Will Hunting
GWH was all Damon and Williams. Anyone with a boston accent (real or fake) could’ve played Affleck's character.
Nah. The Accountant was made for him. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen.
100% correct!!!
It was a good movie. I’m still not convinced someone couldn’t have played it better, but he was good.
Ben was naturally stiff and unemotional to pull it off. One off my favorite movies.
Is this sarcasm or do you actually think the accountant is a good movie??
Phenomenal
Love The Accountant, and as an avowed B.Affleck hater I will concede he was good in it.
The crazy thing is he's a good (to very good) Director!
Go figure 🤔
He’s like a reverse Kenneth Branagh!
I'm with you. It's not like he's really so bad in anything that I can't tolerate said film, but he's never really convinced me that he's anyone other than Ben Affleck.
That guy's good in my book forever after The Town, I will watch that movie anytime it's on.
I can't say I was mesmerized by his performance but I agree that The Town is properly solid time and time again.
He's great in Jay and Silent Bob making fun of Ben Affleck.
Reindeer Games the bomb, yo!
He's BATMAN!
He was actually pretty good in Argo.
So you love Ben Affleck but hate Dazed and Confused?
edit: opposite. Ah, got it. Yea was confused there for a second. I didn’t think anyone liked Ben Affleck.
Dazed, yes this is a great opposite answer. Amazing movie in spite of him. That said he played that role pretty well.
The 2023 Michigan Basketball Season starring Juwan Howard...
You win the thread.
Too soon
Love Philip Seymour Hoffman; hate Charlie Wilson's War.
Love Kirsten Dunst; hate Crazy/Beautiful.
"Love Philip Seymour Hoffman; hate Charlie Wilson's War."
Kind of agree. I love PSH too. Movie was above average. The scene near the end though. Fantastic. Hoffman is a force on the screen and outshines Hanks. When he smacks the drink out of his hand and the airplane sounds overhead.
Star Wars - Harrison Ford
#IM HERE FOR THE NEGBANG!
Bro. I gave you props for Affleck in the accountant but c’mon with this.
I would’ve accepted Natalie Portman in Star Wars, even though the script and her acting was trash.
I hate Star Wars and like Harrison Ford because of Indiana Jones
Blasphemy, but I will give you credit for Force Awakens- Harrison Ford.
Anchorman 2. The whole cast.
I'll play along... and I'm going to skip sequel movies as the list will be way too long.
Leonardo Dicaprio is an amazing actor who has played some iconic roles in great movies... however, The Beach was awful. Saw it in the theater, hated it despite thinking Leo did well... saw it again 10 years laters, only made it through about halfway and refuse to watch it again.
Garland's book was top-notch, though.
I also despite the film, but hold plenty of LD stock.
How about Titantic? Can’t understand why people live that movie. Terrible script and acting and way too long
Willy Wonka, Gene Wilder.
Sometimes the actor makes the movie...
Good Day Sir!
Star Wars episodes 1-3
-Ewan McGregor
I have not watched any Star Wars movie since Return of the Jedi.
I have not watched any superhero movie since Superman III, and I could not tell you which superheroes are Marvel or DC.
Just never got around to any of them. I do, however, watch a lot of MST3K; so I guess I've got that going for me.
In honor of MST3K, how about Raul Julia in Overdrawn at the Memory Bank?
Could not believe what a piece of crap that movie was when we watched it. Just embarrassing trash.
Few SF movies can match this weirdness, though:
God I loved that show. Used to spend my Saturday mornings ripping with them on shorty B movies. Fun stuff.

Raul Julia in Street Fighter.
Arnold Schwarzenager in Batman and Robin
Can’t argue this. Even he and Liam couldn’t overcome the travesty combo of Jarjar, Christensen and Portman.
A little different, but there have definitely been actors who I developed an unnatural hatred for simply because I hated a character they played (and to be fair, they played their roles of hate-able characters well), such as Jon Hamm (The Town), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Mission Impossible 3), pretty much all the Lannister actors besides Peter Dinklage, etc...
I have to agree with PSH in MI3. He was so perfect in that role it made me hate his character so much.
Just watch Last Action Hero and/or Space Truckers and you’ll change your opinion of the guy who played Tywin
I got a 2fer.
The correct answer is Twister starring Bill “Chet” Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. #RIPx2

Boo! Twister was a lot of fun to see in the theater.
