MSU Players Assault UM Player in Postgame Tunnel
This is actually unbelievable. What a pathetic program MSU is...
October 29th, 2022 at 11:13 PM ^
Why do we even have a player going to the locker room when we should be on the field celebrating?
October 29th, 2022 at 11:56 PM ^
Maybe he had to take a dump. Players should expect to be able to get back to their locker room, specifically at home, after the game.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:58 PM ^
He was injured, so walking back to the locker room early. I guess he shouldn't do that in his own stadium because opposing team may jump him. SMH.
October 30th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
It seems as if both teams in the tunnel is a thing that happens. This is last week, and my guess is this is normally what happens most weeks for as long as there has been one tunnel.
Michigan players start showing up around the 50 second mark.
October 30th, 2022 at 10:53 AM ^
this is normally what happens most weeks for as long as there has been one tunnel
There's been one tunnel since the stadium was built in 1927 so no this is not what "normally" happens.
October 30th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
What I meant was, what normally happens (and what is shown in the video) is players share the tunnel without incident. Sometimes they even talk to players from the other team in a friendly and respectful way.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
If there was nothing physical from the Michigan guy first, those guys should be suspended for the rest of the season by the B1G and kicked off the team
October 30th, 2022 at 12:18 AM ^
Apparently embarrassing their school on the field isn’t enough. Now they are taking it off the field. It’s not an exaggeration to say this is criminal behavior.
October 30th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
Most Sparty fans like it. Got through about three pages at RCMB and 80%+ have no problem with it.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:23 AM ^
Maybe MSU players were provoked or reacting, whatever, but that wasn’t self-defense in that clip. They should probably be suspended regardless, because otherwise we’re just saying it’s ok to beat on a player when he’s off the field.
October 30th, 2022 at 8:33 AM ^
The words you are looking for is "arrested" and "charged".
Take away the football uniforms and 10 random 20 year old guys jumping another single guy is a seriously dangerous situation and a very serious offense.
October 30th, 2022 at 8:42 AM ^
They need to face felony charges and spend significant time in prison. Otherwise there won't be anything to deter another escalation next year.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
Is that Andrel Anthony? I can't think of another number 1 besides Jaden McBurrows and I thought he was hurt.
October 30th, 2022 at 8:48 AM ^
Yeah looks more like McBurrows on the back of the jersey instead of Anthony.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:43 PM ^
It was McBurrows. Someone said lower down Anthony had maize leggings on both legs, this player only has one on his left. If that's true, it would explain why he's there by himself since he's injured and probably went up the tunnel early.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:14 PM ^
Defeat with dignity.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:15 PM ^
What losers. Every way imaginable. Nice program, Tuck.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:40 AM ^
Tuck has no control on or off the field. He has gotten the most money he ever will. He’s won. He’s doesn’t have to prove anything
October 30th, 2022 at 3:39 AM ^
Can anyone here remember an MSU team that wasn't full of cowardly human garbage? Remember when this reprobate tried to break Denard's neck during a game?
October 29th, 2022 at 11:15 PM ^
That's a file assault charges situation
October 29th, 2022 at 11:21 PM ^
Yep. That's assault and a bunch of Spartans need to get charged and convicted.
October 30th, 2022 at 12:20 AM ^
Dantonio should be able to drive them to the game after their stay...heard hes got lots of time on his hands now
October 29th, 2022 at 11:23 PM ^
That is 100% what should happen. There’s football violence, there’s even fighting on the field in the heat of the moment violence, but this is a different level. Not that MSU cares much about not having people with charges on their team.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:35 PM ^
Spartans Will. Even if it’s assault. 🤷♀️
October 30th, 2022 at 8:49 AM ^
"Spartan Swill" is the correct expression.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:16 PM ^
Big Ten better suspend some of those dudes. That was a gang beat up.
100% super fucked up, 0% surprised that MSU did this.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:23 PM ^
The bigten may try to do something about the tunnel now.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:42 PM ^
You really think a tunnel is going to stop thugs?
October 30th, 2022 at 4:17 AM ^
Slugs?
October 29th, 2022 at 11:17 PM ^
Uhhh. Who was that ?
October 29th, 2022 at 11:18 PM ^
Charboneau calling it a "scuffle" is high comedy considering it's just 8-9 guys kicking one guy on the ground. Also, he originally called it a "fight" until video showed it was decidedly not two teams going at it but one team jumping a guy.
Fucking awful way to end a game. I get it's a rivalry game and all that but a bunch of tough guys in helmets cornering a single UM guy is bush league and I hope Tucker does something about it.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:28 PM ^
And those kicks and stomps are coming from cleats.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:36 PM ^
Charboneau is the Sparty slappy/beat writer for DetNews. I'm sure he and others will find a way to downplay this.
October 30th, 2022 at 9:33 AM ^
Um, he already did. It's being called a "scuffle" everywhere. He's done his damage.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:59 PM ^
Tuck comin’
October 30th, 2022 at 1:16 AM ^
Of course.
Charboneau is the Staee Chengalis after all.
October 30th, 2022 at 8:19 AM ^
No he won't do anything about it, he doesn't take players out of games for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Even when getting rolled.
You are either coaching it or you're allowing it
October 30th, 2022 at 10:03 AM ^
Charboneau is a Sparty fanboy masquerading as a reporter; he outwardly cheers for MSU while in the press box and slobbers all over Izzo and Tucker. Solari and Kyle Austin are are the same way; they'll never objectively hold anyone at MSU accountable for their actions.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:18 PM ^
I think that was McBurrows. It's a #1 and I think I see a 'Mc' on the nameplate there. Gonna need to hear the backstory on how he ended up amongst 20 MSU players
October 29th, 2022 at 11:19 PM ^
At least a few Spartans are justifying it because we ran a reverse pass. Spartans are always victims.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:29 PM ^
Stick with that argument and see how it works out for you. “But your Honor, they ran a reverse pass. We had to jump an injured player and assault him.”
October 29th, 2022 at 11:36 PM ^
"I've always had a lot of respect for Michigan and Harbaugh, but running a play like that really causes me to question that."
....said zero Spartan fans, ever.
I'm not normally big on running up the score, but it's not like those assholes would respect Michigan more for not doing it. So fuck 'em.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:42 PM ^
Actually some were voicing that very whine in their message boards (yes I am guilty of a little schadenfreude hunting)
October 29th, 2022 at 11:53 PM ^
Oh, I don't doubt it for one bit. Their whole team has been cheapshot artists for years, egged on by that sourpussed sack of shit Dantonio, and they riot in the streets of East Lansing win lose or draw, but they can't help but get all butthurt and triggered over a trick play. Group crying therapy on the RCMB is their coping mechanism.
October 29th, 2022 at 11:44 PM ^
Their helmets say “relentless” but they want Michigan to mercy them out? Bah.
October 30th, 2022 at 1:18 AM ^
The tv broadcast randomly had a closeup of Harbaugh just before the snap on the reverse pass play. You could see him saying timeout (not near a ref).... my guess is he didn't call or approve of that play.
October 30th, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
So I guess when Marky D rammed in a garbage time TD in 2014 instead of running out the clock, it was perfectly acceptable. Oh that's right, he was butthurt because Joe Bolden had the audacity to put a tent stake in his precious grass.
