Has your opinion changed on Sherrone Moore?
How much credit should Sherrone Moore be getting for the oline and run game? How has your opinion of Moore changed over the first 2 games of the season?
I haven't seen anyone really mention anything about the job Moore has done and how great the oline has played these first 2 weeks.

It has been TWO weeks.

That hasn't stopped people from calling Mike Hart the greatest RB coach to ever grace the earth.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
To be fair, Hart did a pretty amazing job at IU already so his legend is just growing. I don't know much about Moore's background.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
If any position coach gets too much credit it's RB coach. Once you receive the hand off, it's pretty much instinctual. Hassan Haskins was Hassan Haskins before Mike Hart, and Blake Corum would be the same if Jay was coaching. The real determining factor will be recruiting. Having said that, I believe his biggest role is his overall presence in the locker room
September 14th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
You start this comment by saying RB coaches get too much credit. Ok, I disagree but a fine thing to think. then by the end of your comment you say RB coaching is literally a nonfactor? which is ignorant as hell.

Hart did a pretty amazing job at IU already so his legend is just growing.
IU 2016: 534 rush attempts/1979 yds 3.7 per carry 18 rushing TDs
(Mike Hart joins IU staff for 2017-2020 seasons)
IU 2017: 449 rush attempts/1561 yds 3.5 per carry 11 rushing TDs
IU 2018: 428 rush attempts/1888 yds 4.4 per carry 17 rushing TDs
IU 2019: 467 rush attempts/1695 yds 3.6 per carry 24 rushing TDs
Do these numbers suggest that Hart was a good RB coach at IU? If numbers mean anything, yes.
But only once in his years at IU did the RBs he coached run for a greater yds per carry average than they did in the year prior to his start at IU. By that standard, "amazing" is ridiculous hyperbole.

That hasn't stopped people from calling Mike Hart the greatest RB coach to ever grace the earth.
Fred Jackson would say Mike Hart the coach is like Mike Hart the player, but a better coach.
September 14th, 2021 at 2:13 PM ^
Fred Jackson would say that Mike Hart is like Fred Jackson, only faster.
September 14th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
100% what I was going to say. We have had two Mike Hart appreciation threads in two weeks but I suspect that has to do more with the irrational hatred of Jaybaugh and not so much with Harts coaching.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
I don’t get the Jay hate at all, dude recruits well and pretty much every position he’s been in the unit has been solid. Only thing I can thing is that people think he’s only here still because his dad is the head coach.
September 14th, 2021 at 8:33 PM ^
I agree on the over the top Jay hate. He's done an outstanding job at TE coach earlier and the special teams is outstanding.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:36 PM ^
It is still too early to tell, but I did like the job they did against Washington's big DL. I also don't think you can give Moore all of the credit. The RB's are running with attitude and are hitting the holes quickly and getting to the second and third levels. Maybe we didn't see enough last year with the shortened season, but the combination of improved OL and RB play has been evident so far! We should have a better read in 3 weeks at Wisconsin.
September 14th, 2021 at 8:43 PM ^
This line, the stable of backs that know how to get extra yards, and a formidable defense gives me good feels for Wisconsin. I feel like not winning at Madison since 2001 is far too long, and we are do for a road win line this, and it feels like we have a team that can win a close moderate to low score on the road. Would also be nice to beat them by multiple touchdowns.
I hope Wisconsin comes in after a win over ND, would make for a very exciting matchup.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:18 PM ^
They aren't gonna face a defense on Washington's level until maybe Penn State.
September 14th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
Do we really know what level Washington's D is yet? They played a FCS opponent and did what you would expect a P5 program to do and they got run over by Michigan. Just because they have two DT's and two CB's who are expected to get drafted does not mean they have a top defense. Look at all of the talent on OSU's D and they have not been elite.
Regarding the Michigan/Washington game, I think Washington's D-coordinator did what seemed like the smart thing - force Michigan to run up the middle against what was supposed to be the strength of the team (the 2 DT's) and trust the 2 good CB's to stop the short passing game. Turns out Michigan was prepared to do just that. Once Michigan proved they could move the D-Line I'm not sure there were many adjustments to be made which Michigan didn't already have the counter ready for.

If you aren’t making half-baked conclusions with little information, what’s the point?
September 14th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
I don't know?!!
September 14th, 2021 at 11:39 AM ^
Nope, liked the move from the start, but really more from a recruiting and youth standpoint. So far so good on the o-line play, but it's early.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:41 AM ^
I had no opinion on Moore. I still don't have one.
So, no.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:42 AM ^
I didn't have an opinion and while I like the fire they are playing with, I am still in a bit of wait and see mode.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
Nope, not a bit. As a matter of fact I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is.

Hallelujah! Holy Sh*t! Where's the Tylenol?
September 14th, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
Ooops, double post
September 14th, 2021 at 12:19 PM ^
Is this the largest Offensive Line we've ever had? Perhaps, too difficult to quantify but, damn, these are big dudes!
September 14th, 2021 at 11:58 AM ^
spotty-lipped??
C'mon now - that's just going way too far.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
Wow, that sure escalated quickly!
September 14th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Is that movie that old now?
September 14th, 2021 at 1:05 PM ^
That is a big offensive line. Maybe not as big as Michigans but pretty damn offensive and pretty damn big.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:48 AM ^
Nobody has seen enough games to have a valid opinion on this topic.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:25 PM ^
I have but I am not sharing the goods.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
Seeing some breakdown from people smarter than me, I find the diversity in the run game blocking schemes really impressive. I think that points to coaching.
I would like to see pass blocking look good before anointing Moore, but so far so good. I really didn’t have any opinion on him, so can’t say it changed, but I was worried.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:30 PM ^
Very nice take on it!
September 14th, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
It appears that allowing Wariner and Brown to move on has benefited morale, cohesion, and attitude on both sides of the ball.
Oline is playing well so far. I see improvement with Moore at the helm.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:37 PM ^
We beat two crappy teams. If we win the next 3 I’ll start chortling the new staff.
September 21st, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
One down two to go till a nice chortle sesh.
September 14th, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
It would have to. I'm sure I wasn't the only one skeptical of moving Moore to OL because he'd never coached that position. But, it seems the linemen like his coaching style and they've raved about their cohesiveness.
So, yea. It's changed. Ask me again after the season.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:00 PM ^
Still too early, but so far so good.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
I want to know if he's paid those parking tickets off yet
September 14th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
The team really seems to be playing with more confidence and energy--with more zazz. And I fucking love zazz. I attribute that to the new coaches, all of whom look like great hires, Clickscale, Bellamy, the Mighty Mite, Helow. Macdonald's defense hides the weakness and accentuates the strengths of the defensive roster--guys are making plays, swarming the ball, terrorizing quarterbacks. And Moore's oline looks great.
Caveat...it is early, and, yeah, we've had early season hopes crushed in the past. But it feels good now, so I'm vibing to that.
September 14th, 2021 at 12:15 PM ^
nothing better than a double shot of zazz. I have to agree,.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
Zazz is good, especially Hawaiian style.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
Raz-A-Ma-Zazz!
September 14th, 2021 at 12:11 PM ^
I didn't know what to think of how he would do, since this is his first time coaching the whole O Line. But I am very happy. There has been little complaint about the O Line. And for his first tine out, that is good
The real test of how good he is will come against Wisconsin. I don't think Washington was the real test. I know there is hype about Washingtons defense. But I don't see play on the feild to match it. That all run TD drive by Michigan was impressive!
September 14th, 2021 at 12:30 PM ^
I'll say that any peer offense can beat a peer defense when the defense focuses so hard on not focusing on what you're doing. You keep 7 in the box for 8 plays, the offense will get 8 plays of good chunk yardage when sending 7-9 people to block those 7 defenders.
If you want to stop the run, you need to bring corners and safeties in to help out. Washington never did that, so they got what they asked for - a football shoved down their throat.
The simple fact the the OL and TE's managed to effectively find their targets and erase them on every play says something about the coaching they received.
