This is a good look for mork and staee, so does this mean he was also a waffling flake???
February 11th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
I’m hearing now it’s Mel Tucker.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:58 PM ^
Is that a failed Country Music singer?
February 11th, 2020 at 6:18 PM ^
Distant relative of The Marshall Tucker Band. More Blue Grass.
Famous for the song “can’t you see what social media is doing to me.”
February 11th, 2020 at 4:58 PM ^
What a grouchy baby.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:03 PM ^
and he made his bitch Beekman pay him $1M/yr to sit around the athletic acting like a grouchy baby.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
If true, the arrogance is otherworldly. So Dantonio goes to see his "boss" Beekman and says I'm coaching in 2000 and I'm gonna tell you who my successor is going to be? What AD or school President would put up with that nonsense. Spartans will!
Dantonio to Beekman. "I'm going to coach 2020 and Tressel will succeed me"
Beekman: "Cool about 2020 but I'm gonna check out who else might be out there."
Dantonio: "Fuck you. I quit."
February 11th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
This is awesome.
February 11th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
Spartans Will....quit in disgust!!!

Valenti's head will....
February 11th, 2020 at 5:10 PM ^
Never listen to 97.1 but did today because I wanted to laugh till I passed out. He did mention this and it was glorious.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
I listened to the first segment and it was pretty raw. Valenti spoke the truth about the program and predicted countless ass-beatings. Worth a quick listen on their web site.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:04 PM ^
How does he feel justified in calling the shots after the bullshit he's pulled at MSU? The level of self importance and self entitlement is shocking.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
Let’s ask Lloyd.
February 11th, 2020 at 6:50 PM ^
Can we please stop equating the two situations? There is a moral difference between these two men
February 11th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Ant Lloyd Carr also retired at the end of his last regular season rather than in the middle of the football off season
February 11th, 2020 at 9:26 PM ^
Yes, why don’t we just gloss over the fact that he had a huge hand in fucking over the coaching search. Just like Mork he wanted his guy to take over.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:38 PM ^
Probably the biggest difference is that Lloyd told UM he wanted to retire and stayed around an extra year as a courtesy to the program. Dantonio totally screwed over MSU by retiring the day before the final recruiting signing period, after saying he would return for next season.
February 11th, 2020 at 8:04 PM ^
This is what I was thinking!
February 11th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
I guess he also rode Lebron's dick to a championship and feels entitled to call the shots.
February 11th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
I went back and revisited this thread for a good laugh and it didn't disappoint. Thank you sir.

February 11th, 2020 at 5:08 PM ^
Obligatory:
Proverbs 16.18
"Pride comes before the fall"
Or
King James Version text:
"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall"
February 11th, 2020 at 5:08 PM ^
He did quit. I thought they want to retain him to teach smiling and civics classes.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:31 PM ^
I believe the class is "Character and Leadership."
February 11th, 2020 at 5:08 PM ^
Not buying it.
They hired a search firm in secret, nobody knew about it until now. And yet they couldn't even meet with Fickell without the whole world knowing before it even happened?
February 11th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
I'm waiting for confirmation from my pre-teen Snapchat source.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:32 PM ^
You think they'd get a competent search firm? At this point it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be somebody's brother-in-law with an old school Rolodex.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:43 PM ^
Is John Engler the CEO of a search firm?
February 11th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
I think it was Huel.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:56 PM ^
Nonsense.
Huel was busy building the app for the Iowa Caucuses.
*ducks*
February 11th, 2020 at 9:29 PM ^
If they thought they had a year and planned on doing a discreet search, I can see it. Doubt the firm would start in earnest right away. I’m sure they were planning on taking months to gather a list of potential candidates before they would even start reaching out. Then Mork got pissed and resigned and shit hit the fan and they had to move asap
February 11th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
They still haven't started in earnest
February 11th, 2020 at 5:09 PM ^
HAHAHAHAH
OH
HO HO HO
HA HAAAAAHA
(SNORT)
HA! HA.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:14 PM ^
MSU has to bear the brunt of the upcoming heat, so it is understandable they're cutting bait. Karma is so sweet. Pride surely does come before the fall Mork.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:14 PM ^
Don't want to start yet another state thread but Pat Shurmur says leave me alone, I have meetings
February 11th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
Such is the murmur on Shurmur.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Man, this keeps getting better and better! No one, rightfully so, wants this job.
February 11th, 2020 at 6:19 PM ^
I know Pat has a new job, but are they really pulling long days in the off season? Sounds like a FU to MSU.
February 11th, 2020 at 10:00 PM ^
Which means that Shurmur will be announced the MSU head coach on Monday.
February 11th, 2020 at 11:38 PM ^
Welp, there goes my theory that Shurmur would end up being the choice if Fickell declined.
For a former player and presumably loyal Spartan like Shurmur to pre-emptively take his name out of any speculation speaks to how toxic the situation in EL must be.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
That’s weird. It’s almost as if he thought he was still relevant.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:22 PM ^
No, just thought he was the Revenant.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
I find this hard to believe considering the timing of his announcement, literally hours after new allegations against him and on the eve of signing day.
I can't see him learning about this and quitting on the spot, especially when he would have likely had enough clout to get the search firm to pick his preferred successor anyway.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
Yes and yes.
Someone at MSU is being petty. No doubt Dantonio has rubbed more than just Michigan fans the wrong way over the years.
At the same time, it's just a distraction. Don't look at how we're screwing this up. Definitely don't look at those NCAA allegations. Don't look at how no one of note wants the job. We're only in this mess because Dantonio is a big baby.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
Yup, I'm surprised at the speed that at least one faction within MSU is throwing Dantoniohno under the bus.
February 11th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
The Supreme Coach resigned because he couldn't stand by any longer as corruption befell the formerly great Michigan State University. Supreme Coach already has plans for a come back. Stay tuned
February 11th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
"abruptly" which is why he waited until after he got his $4.5mil bonus on 1/15? Makes sense.
February 11th, 2020 at 7:28 PM ^
Hey buddy!
