OBJ on video passing out cash to LSU players
When you play in the SEC you can hand out cash on tv and the ncaa won’t blink an eye.

Hey, OBJ, hand me some cash!
January 14th, 2020 at 11:02 AM ^
Just talked to OBJ, he wants to know your 40 time
January 14th, 2020 at 11:54 AM ^
4.25 laser-timed.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:06 PM ^
Zero fakes out of 5?
January 14th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
Hey, I've got a plan. I would use the money to finance a bank job. With the money from the bank job I would buy a lot of cocaine. I would then sell that cocaine. It's just free enterprise, man.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but the player receiving the cash in that video is a Junior who will likely be declaring for the NFL draft any time.
And since the season ended when that game finished, is this even a violation any more if he's never playing in another NCAA game? I mean he could literally drop out of school and just prepare for the draft at this point, it doesn't matter anymore.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:40 AM ^
What would be the reaction be if that were Michigan players getting cabbage like that?
January 14th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
In the context of the video, I think the reaction would be the same regardless of school. Unless you're asking about the reaction of the NCAA.
In that case, I bet they make sure the player didn't keep the cash and if he did then they might ask for him to pay it back like they did with James Wiseman.
January 14th, 2020 at 7:24 PM ^
Check snopes - its fake
January 14th, 2020 at 10:41 AM ^
What about the second player? Also Jefferson was wearing OBJ cleats during the game. Also didn’t everyone say Chris Weber didn’t take the loan until after the season? Didn’t matter much for Michigan.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:44 AM ^
The other player is also a Junior.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Well you just have an excuse for everything don’t you? what about the custom obj cleats? The whole didn’t get those isn’t that a booster gift?
https://twitter.com/brgridiron/status/1217083853497602048?s=20
January 14th, 2020 at 10:50 AM ^
It's the same as OSU getting custom Lebron James cleats and headphones. I just don't get why this thing still pisses people off.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:52 AM ^
A whole team gift is different than a single player gift. LeBron because of his agency ties is smart enough to go through the proper channels. please read ncaa rules before commenting.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:55 AM ^
Do we know for sure that OBJ gave Jefferson those cleats? Like is this a documented thing or is it possible he got them custom-made? And what's the point of reading NCAA rules before commenting when even the NCAA doesn't do that?
This is the reality of college athletics.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:00 AM ^
So you think he went on nike website and had those custom made.
Serious question, do you work for the NCAA? I’m getting that feeling by all your excuses. If not, you should apply.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:02 AM ^
I'm not saying I think he did that and I have no inside information whatsoever. And no, I don't work for the NCAA. I have grown indifferent about this issue because it's never getting fixed. There's no use in getting as upset as you are right now over this.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
I’m sure Nike sent them to LSU! Same way I’m sure Oklahoma was probably gifted Blake Griffins’ shoe for the whole hoop squad. This is just talking points for those “keep amateurism pure” people. OBJ hands both those kids a rather small amount of cash. If Kirklin plays next season he will “pay it back” and all will be well. I just don’t get the uproar some ppl cause by acting like this is some major crime.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
Yep. The "custom" cleats thing is a non-issue. Michigan players get Jordan cleats that are not available to the public as well. There is absolutely questionable stuff happening there, but the cleats are not one of them.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:59 AM ^
Getting angered by this is so pointless. You'll be much happier once you accept that this happens and there's no stopping it.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:27 AM ^
I have finally reached that stage of acceptance. And I do feel better.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Jontre Kirklin, junior WR. Had 2 catches for 75 yards on the season. He will probably not be going to the NFL this year.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
He also gave cash to the next guy who is definitely not leaving for the NFL. I'm sure his bagman will pay it back for him and it'll be all good for Spring ball.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Personally, I don't give a shit about this because this thing has been happening for years and it will never be fixed. I'm just so indifferent now
January 14th, 2020 at 10:59 AM ^
i mean presumably he's still on scholarship...if that means anything
January 14th, 2020 at 11:01 AM ^
Fair, but I guess my point is that he doesn't have to be. Now that the season is over and he'll get drafted no matter what, he could just go home and train for the combine and completely disassociate himself from the university.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
Always wondered what these payouts were like now I know!
January 14th, 2020 at 10:41 AM ^
Good for OBJ for throwing it right in the NCAA's face.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:42 AM ^
It’s pretty astonishing how open it’s become. Not even trying to hide it anymore. I’ve been pretty firm in the don’t cheat by paying them under the table camp but I’m really struggling to justify it at this point. How are we supposed to compete against that? It’s like being in a league where half the teams have no salary cap and the other half aren’t allowed to spend money.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:44 AM ^
Nothing to see here. Just a loan from a family friend.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:44 AM ^
Straight cash homie
January 14th, 2020 at 10:46 AM ^
Isnt that Jefferson the WR who will definitely go pro? I think he doesn’t give two shits about NCAA regulations at this point
But heres the reality of it, noone cares if LSU cheats. The sports media doesn’t care. They dont shit where they eat. The public either believes that everyone cheats or noone cheats unless explicitly sanctioned by the NCAA. The NCAA relies solely on people coming forward and noone in the state of Louisiana is dumb enough to rain on LSU’s parade. In other words, its irrelevant, noone will ever talk about it.
There is no - zero - incentive to not do as they do.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:47 AM ^
13 gets a handful too if you watched the video. 13 only had 2 catches all year.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:24 AM ^
A good example of this was when Ryan Perrilloux was at LSU when Miles was still around. You may remember this story: https://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=2880731
The real story behind it was that LSU had a wink wink deal with the casino where players knew which tables and which dealers to go to - and surprise surprise - LSU players would somehow always win. A great way to funnel some money to players without raising suspicion.
It blew up in LSU's face when the bouncer that day didn't recognize Perrilloux to let him in. Perrilloux had to take the fall. But we never heard another word about it and no one in Louisiana would rat anyone out on the scheme.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:55 AM ^
But heres the reality of it, noone cares if LSU cheats. The sports media doesn’t care. They dont shit where they eat.
I am not disagreeing with you.
But what pisses people off is the selective outrage -- the interwebs was full of Houston "Asterisk" memes yesterday but this is okay?
Weird.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:46 AM ^
As I've said multiple times before (but I like saying it so i'm going to say it again). When it comes to recruiting Michigan is the living embodiment of a 90 year old women, driving 45 MPH in the left lane of the freeway, yelling at everyone to slow down as she's passed on the right.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:50 AM ^
Lol wow. That has to be the best, most accurate analogy I've ever heard in my life.
On the other hand..... =( =( =( =( =(
January 14th, 2020 at 10:54 AM ^
And since the minimum speed limit on the freeway is 55mph, Michigan would receive the death penalty.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:55 AM ^
Yes. Yes. Yes.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:55 AM ^
Only because the police these days don't enforce anything (per your analogy). If they were doing their job (as they once did), this wouldn't be nearly as much if an issue.
January 14th, 2020 at 6:31 PM ^
Pretty good analogy, but I would say uofm is driving 70 MPH in the left lane. Right at the speed limit, not 1 MPH over. Being passed at 85 on their right.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
The NCAA just released their official response this morning:
January 14th, 2020 at 10:51 AM ^
Dude isn’t taking care of his chicken
January 14th, 2020 at 10:51 AM ^
Perhaps Jefferson loaned OBJ some cash in a time of need, and it was a convenient time to pay him back with a slight amount of interest!
Assume positive intent y'all!
January 14th, 2020 at 10:51 AM ^
$EC it just means more!
January 14th, 2020 at 10:52 AM ^
Cry baby.
January 14th, 2020 at 10:55 AM ^
Jefferson - Going to NFL
Kirklin - cut
NCAA - head in sand
LSU - nothing bad happens
January 14th, 2020 at 11:01 AM ^
Yea, no one cares. I guess some old people yelling at clouds care, but most people don't. I don't. I wish Brady would do this.
If #13 does come back for his senior year, LSU will claim he gave the money back, the NCAA will nod and say ok, and nothing will happen.
NCAA is, essentially, a cash printing machine. They love cash. And they aren't about to kick themselves in the nuts and give themselves a huge paycut by making the SEC (or Online State, or OU) less competitive.
January 14th, 2020 at 11:04 AM ^
What I would give for Woodson and Brady to one day hand out cash to our players after winning a national championship on live TV.
They might be 75 years old at the time, but I’d still enjoy it.
