Always liked him. Congrats to him!
November 9th, 2019 at 7:29 PM ^
What. The. Fuck.
Thought that game was over once MSU marched down the field to open the 3rd.
Lovie Smith. Give that beard props.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:54 PM ^
Usually I'm not one to believe too much in the "good loss" theory but Illinois got the score to 28-25 against the Wolverines before losing and since that time, they've upset Wisconsin at home, beat Purdue on the road, and easily crushed Rutgers before mounting a great comeback at East Lansing. They should take the Northwestern game at the end of the year at home and so next week against Iowa in Iowa City should be interesting - all this after losing to Eastern Michigan in week 3!
November 9th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
Yeah, it kinda looks like Michigan was their Penn State. Eww.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:48 PM ^
and losing to Nebraska at home in week 4
November 10th, 2019 at 7:46 AM ^
Yeah... Lovie has quietly been improving them. They're looking to be a regularly solid team. Resilient.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:25 PM ^
And Peters was injured for 2 of their losses
November 9th, 2019 at 7:29 PM ^
What could have been....
November 9th, 2019 at 7:29 PM ^
He played hard for us. He got passed. We can see why watching him play. He transferred.
Had a huge win against Wisconsin. Just beat MSU on the road.
He’s got guts. He’s got wins. He’s going bowling.
Couldn’t be happier for him.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
Michigan's QB evaluators/developers may not be that good.
Lots of reps with the 1s can also make a difference.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:52 PM ^
He’s still incredibly wobbly
November 10th, 2019 at 8:19 AM ^
While I agree that our QB evaluation seems rather suspect the last few years, you also have to recognize that Peters is succeeding in ways he never did here but he’s doing it in a different system under different coaches. There’s no guarantee that had Peters stayed and been the starter he would’ve had performances like this one.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Illinois is bowl eligible
November 9th, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
You know who's not? Sparty.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
The Illinois kids were chanting "bowl game, bowl game" on Sparty's field.
Put another nail in the coffin of the "meaningless exhibition" myth.
November 10th, 2019 at 3:24 AM ^
Someone should tell Harbaugh since he treats bowl games like meaningless exhibitions hence the shit bowl record like Bo
November 9th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Hey, our castoff QBs can win games too.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Awesome!
November 9th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
He's a good kid who found a better fit. Glad to see it and he's leading Illinois to their first bowl in how long?? Yeah, that's special
November 9th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
I appreciate Brandon Peters.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
Peters > Shea
November 9th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
It’s pretty clear you cheer against your QB. I don’t think you need to make it more known to the public.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
He's an obvious troll for MSU or OSU. Look at his posting history.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:18 PM ^
Has Shea ever thrown for 400?
November 10th, 2019 at 5:41 AM ^
Twice when he played for Mississippi. Hasn't even hit 300 in a game for Michigan.
November 10th, 2019 at 6:52 AM ^
Pretty clear you don't understand football.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
Revenged Wisconsin for us now this!
November 9th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Sparty tears taste so sweat !!!
November 9th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Congrats BP. Looked great out there
November 9th, 2019 at 7:50 PM ^
Sorry. I lay this one directly on Harbaugh. Peters wasn’t rah rah enough for our ADHD coach who shows up to drop his kid off at school wearing sweatpants over his khakis.
Peters will have an NFL career, possibly even a very good one and it will be egg on jimmys face.
Peters arm on this years team with the pass pro & receivers we have would be 10x more deadly than we currently are. Let’s see how many more times we see even Brian complain about throwing it up to Nico. Do you know why we don’t? We don’t have the velocity at QB to trust it.
But..I guess we like Shea’s leadership so we’ll rest on that.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
That pass for the winning TD was a dart. Would that he was throwing darts in Ann Arbor. Watching him after the game, the same good ol' stoic Brandon Peters, looked on as the rest of his team were losing their minds. And that, my friends, is why he was sent packing.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
that take is so dumb that trump nominated it to be the secretary of education.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
?? In an honest QB competition, a meritocracy if you will. Who on our current roster would beat out Peters? Having seen Shea, some Dylan & some Joe this season, can anyone here honestly say that BP should have been pushed out like he was?
November 10th, 2019 at 1:20 AM ^
BP made 10 throws in that game that I’ve not seen a M QB make since Henne. Not to say Ruddock, Speight at times, Gardner & Denard weren’t better at various other aspects but zipping into tight windows on time is a skill that is far more precious & rare than modern CFB seems to treat it. Partly because horizontal speedy WRs are far more prevalent than big vertical guys with speed so it’s easier to run an O that fits mobile dink & dunk QBs. I get it. I don’t disagree. BUT, when you have a guy that can really spin it and WRs that are physical and can go get it, you become NFL light. We all agree that the worst NFL team on its worst day would wreck anybody in CFB. I just hate to think that we might have been that with an arm talent like BP has. Maybe I wouldn’t be spending every Saturday screaming at the TV to THROW IT DEEP!!
November 10th, 2019 at 2:28 AM ^
I agree, he did not compete well enough against Shea and Dylan and knew he would be fighting with Milton to be the 3rd string. I think Peters does better without competition and he had none at IL and is probably the reason he transferred there after he graduated. I don't blame him for going somewhere where he could get more playing time and he has improved as a QB. I don't think Harbaugh pushed him out, at the time he was not good enough to overtake Shea and Dylan.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:06 PM ^
That comment may violate the "no politics" rule, but it did make me laugh out loud.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
Was going to respond to this but I then realized there was so much wrong with it that it would’ve taken an eternity. The one part I will say made me cringe hard is when you say you think Shea’s arm strength is the problem for not going deep.
There’s so much wrong with your post that doesn’t have to do with somebody just having a different opinion. I think it’s fair to conclude that you’re an idiot.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:34 PM ^
Shea’s arm strength is 100% the limitation to this offense. If you DON’T see that YOU are an idiot.
Show me Shea’s best fucking throw, of his WHOLE.career. Do you see arm talent? If you do you are legally blind. His ball wobbles like a duck, any ball over 30 yds floats in the air for a full second longer than a ball thrown by a guy with an NFL arm. Use your fucking stopwatch and see if I’m wrong. It’s not enough to be able to throw the ball 50yds. Any HS QB can heave a ball 50. It’s how fast can you get a ball 30yds downfield. Can you throw rope? That’s what makes a passer.
Not that guys can’t win in CFB without elite arm talent. They can. I’ve posted here many times saying I believe Shea can. Problem I have is we recruited receivers for Henne & gave them Shea. That has put us in a pickle. We are asking square pegs to fit round holes while we let round pegs transfer out(Peters) or sit the bench(Milton).
As far as the grocery list of BPs mistakes in various games? He’s playing for fucking Illinois! I’ll say it again and stand by it. The NFL will give him a fair chance due to his stature & arm talent. Will he make something of it? IDK.
Will the even give Shea a look?
Why not??
November 9th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
You have no idea what you're talking about.
I'm delighted for him. He's doing a good job. He made some great throws.
But he is not lighting the world on fire. He was 9-22 against Nebraska, and 9-21 against Wisconsin. Even today, winning a huge game with big counting stats (over 300 yards passing!) he was only 22-42, threw a key red zone pick, fumbled a snap in the last minute that cost Illinois 3 critical yards they almost didn't get back, and got a poorly-chosen pass batted down (granted, his playcallers did him no favors in that series).
He is not an NFL prospect. He is not better than the guys we have now; the idea that he would be lighting it up at Michigan right now compared to the guys we have is... totally insane. What's crazy is that you're saying this to neg our coach... the same guy who has misused all of our QBs since Rudock left.
He's getting it done at Illinois, and good for him. But he was not good enough to be the starter at Michigan this year.
November 10th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
1. “He made some great throws”
He made 10 throws in that game alone that we have not seen a M QB make in for sure the past 2yrs.
2. “Over 300yds passing”
On a shit team with far lesser WRs and poor at best pass protection he hit a passing total that I’m not sure we’ve seen in??!
3. “Fumbled a snap”
Do I even have to talk about this?
Wanna compare fumble stats vs. Shea?
4. “He is not better than the guys we have now”
Hmmm. Let’s see. Illinois is now bowl eligible after being picked to finish where?? His team of misfits has beaten Wisconsin & MSU For Shea to match that, adjusting for talent around him, he would have to beat Wisconsin, OSU & won a playoff game vs. an SEC powerhouse.
4. “You’re saying this to neg our coach”
On this we agree. I am not pointing at Shea, he is what we expected. We just aren’t using him to his abilities either. I’m pointing this at coach. Anybody can look like a QB genius when Andrew Luck is your guy. Please coach, prove me wrong. Recruit and develop a QB. Until you do? I’ll throw Peters in your face as an example that you have shit judgement for QBs. Want to prove me wrong? Then do it on the field with results.
November 9th, 2019 at 7:52 PM ^
Nice. Happy for him and Lovie Smith.
Now MSU is gonna limp into the Big House, just to be humiliated even further and fall to 4-6.
Go Blue.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:00 PM ^
I’m thrilled for that young QB (and Michigan grad!).
Fear the beard, indeed.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
Cry me some Sparty tears !!!
November 9th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
Well, he took out Sparty and Sconnie, so kudos!
November 9th, 2019 at 8:09 PM ^
Love this kid. Shea has been solid but Can’t say we would have been worse with Peters.
Doesn't break my heart that Illinois is not on schedule next year.
Keep it going BP...
November 9th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
MSU cries a river of tears and Illinois drinks it like a fine wine. Haha !!! MSU sucks.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:17 PM ^
Great job B-Pete! Knew you had that magic in you!
November 9th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
What makes this even more delicious is that sparty fans had to listen to Matt Millen for the duration.
November 9th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
Way to go BP!! Striking a blow against sparty for man, and all of mankind!!
