Watching some of that game and most of Minny/PSU it was hard not to imagine what M's record would be right now if Morgan, Clifford, or Peters, were the QB. Guys that stick in the pocket and step up and find an open receiver then deliver.
Watch a lot of college football. Somehow even the crappiest of teams have a QB who can hit open receivers.

Sean Clifford threw 3 picks in this game, including one that killed their final chance at a win, and missed a couple of wide-open guys. He also ran out of the pocket a ton, a problem he's had for most of the year. Peters, who I really like, still has completed a shade over 54% of his throws and hasn't completed more than 55% of his passes against any conference opponent despite oftentimes only being asked to throw the ball 10-15 times.
I don't think Patterson has been as good as expected this year, but I also think a lot of issues with the offense have been foisted upon him unfairly and leads to this assumption that he's demonstrably worse than a bunch of equally-inconsistent guys.

Clifford threw for 340.
Without looking I don't think She has come anywhere near that in 1.75 seasons with 2x the talent. I watch games. I watch the plays. Patterson has never stood in a pocket like Clifford - ever.

Peters had a chance to compete and win the starting job but he could not handle the competition and ended up in a battle for the 3rd string against Milton and Milton was beating him out. I think it was a good move by Peters to transfer after graduating and find a team like IL that needed a starting QB with no competitors. The only way he would have ended up starting here is if he would have beaten Dylan in '18 and he would have been the backup to Shea last season and this season, and if he would have had been improving and inserted in at times for Shea this season, may be he would have improved enough to get more time playing. But we all thought Shea was going to make a big jump forward after improving last year. So far he has taken a step back, losing accuracy and not running with the football like he did last season. Especially in the spread option where a running QB would make this new offense really work. The real problem this season is that Shea has laid an egg at times.

Again, I'm really happy for the kid. I still think he'd have struggled to break out here, but he's been great for Illinois and is exactly the type of talent they needed to just keep their offense moving forward. Glad he got them bowl eligible.

And what about Benjamin St. Juste playing well for the boat rowers?

If you actually watched the game, he was easily the weak link of their defense today.
Burned multiple times, and also had a few penalties.

Good for the young man. Nothing but the best wishes for him.

I wonder how much of practice was devoted to Michigan this past week in East Lansing. I bet at least an hour a day.
Looking forward to next week.

Well, they practiced losing to us yesterday.

I just could not be happier for this kid. During the JOK era I was screaming for him. Then the Wisconsin game happened.
I’m so happy he got a new start in Illinois with a such likeable coach. Wishing Brandon nothing but the best! Win your Bowl game Brandon!

Yes, and well said. Mark of a good qb being able to rally him team like he has this year too.

“It’s the deep ball,” Michigan State linebacker Antjuan Simmons said. “Go back and watch what's going on. We stopped them and we got sack after sack. We backed them up and I mean, you can't do anything about that. A quarterback just throws the ball 50 yards in the air and just hopes somebody catches it. Sometimes we won't get those, so we just gotta keep our heads up and keep fighting.”
So...how many targets can we expect for Nico next week?? One?? Two??...

Our O-line is better than Illinois'. We'll get running yards on Sparty.
And the only way their offense gets anything on us is if our coaches decide to simply not coach.
Sparty is out their best defensive player, and lost two of their best O players last week. Rumor is that Lewerke got injured last night too, but even so he's been mediocre at best.

After the game, Peters stated that MSU fans were shouting "Michigan reject" from the stands all game. BP said "They got what they deserved." This was reported by Baumgardner.

Wow... what a lousy, lousy and classless fan base. Indeed, they got what they deserve. I hope we absolutely throttle them next week. Could not be happier for Peters.
