It’s Rutgers no reason to be too excited
September 28th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
Fucking troll. Jump in all 3 snowflake threads to post the same shit. Get bent.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
It’s Rutgers they posed no threat ... We all expected a big win
September 28th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
It would have been a disaster if we didn't thrash them. Rutgers stinks, but we desperately needed a strong performance, and got it, on both sides of the ball.
September 29th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
Maybe so but we needed something that resembled football and didn’t turn the ball over every possession
September 28th, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Rushing Rutger
47 yards on the ground for the Knights.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
Good performance by the players cant complain about their execution.
Don Brown needs to go more zone and scrap the 3 man line when running the ball is an option for the O.
Garbage time subs were bad, no full time player should of been in after the 3rd.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Crossing routes are still a problem for the D.
Rutgers got good gains on the huge gap on 3 man lines when available.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:23 PM ^
Yeah, their biggest crossing route gain came on a horrible pick that didn't get called by the refs.
September 28th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
True but it's also part of the game.
Alabama lost to Clemson in the NC on the very last play because of an obvious pick.
It's not called with any consistency, so you have to coach around it for contingency purposes.
September 29th, 2019 at 8:21 AM ^
Which is exactly the point. Everybody runs man coverage and they're all beatable, even Alabama, if the officials allow picks.
You can be frustrated by it, but the next D Coordinator after Brown will also play man coverage and that man coverage will also get beat by underneath crossing routes. It happens to everybody. We only care and notice when it happens to Michigan.
September 28th, 2019 at 4:50 PM ^
I'm really surprised by how often teams get away with that pick play.
For years, it seemed refs didn't call holding on defensive backs who press and play grabby - now they're calling that.
Next they need to start emphasizing pick plays.
September 28th, 2019 at 7:03 PM ^
The penalty is too severe, thus referees are less likely to throw the flag. It should be 10 yards like in the nfl.
September 28th, 2019 at 6:14 PM ^
I love Glasgow but he got burnt on a couple of those crossing routes. He’s not fast enough to cover those routes.
September 28th, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
I agree, I think Glasgow is OK in box but not in open field
September 28th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
Glasgow should not see the field again. He’s Desmond Morgan 2.0, slow as hell.
September 28th, 2019 at 7:45 PM ^
STFU you fucking troll! Des was a good linebacker.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
Having Dwumfour back helped a ton. Dax and McGrone look like future studs. So much talent on both sides of the ball. I wish we used a little more zone. I know complaining when we shut them out is stupid but we will need it at some point. Hard to get a good read when playing Rutgers.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Dax and McGrone need to be in the starting lineup. Otherwise, this isn't a "meritocracy" at all...
September 28th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
Was going to post the same. Dax is so fast and instinctive
September 28th, 2019 at 3:48 PM ^
Dax had two brutal hits too. His closing speed is phenomenal.
September 28th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
Instinctive, yes, but he also looks like a smart player. I don’t think he was out of position even once. Iowa may be able to coax him out of position; if not, he should probably start over Hawkins (Hawkins is an excellent tackler in space, but if Dax is too, then Dax should start).
September 28th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Glasgow got picked on hard.
A buck says he's still hobbled from playing DT against Wisconsin OL...
September 28th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
The Rutgers qualifier is very much in play as always, of course, but it was nice to sit back and not have to worry too much about the defense.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Great to see Dwumfour back ! Made a huge difference in pass rush.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
We scored all the game points against a conference rival. No need to apologize to anyone or any troll for that. Michigan looked and played like a very good team today. Bring on Iowa.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Best performance of the year but still concerned about the DT position. McGrone was awesome and so was Hill. Brown called s pretty good game overall mixing in some zone for once.
September 28th, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
Replace Hawkins with Hill and Glasgow with McGrone. Interior d-line is still and will be a problem. Kemp struggles to do much of anything and Dwumfour is just there. I’m sure Rutgers had more to do with the pass rush today.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Rutgers or not, these guys needed this one AND they held them to 0. They were doing something right if they didn't even allow the 3.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
I'm worried about our defense and crossing routes are our kryptonite....STILL ALMOST A YEAR LATER
September 28th, 2019 at 4:52 PM ^
I didn't see the game. My understanding is that Rutgers made a lot of their yards of offense with the crossing routes on their one good drive in the first half, which ended in a turnover on downs. Would I be wrong to think the defense adjusted, and took that away the rest of the game? Else, why did Rutgers not have more success by doing it some more the rest of the game?
September 29th, 2019 at 8:37 AM ^
You'd be absolutely correct. Really, the crossing route worked about three times, once for a significant gain when McGrone was blasted by an illegal pick. It was not an issue. It was defended well most of the day.
But you know... OSU PTSD and stuff
Edit: Example - first drive of the game, Brown dropping linemen into crossing routes to blow up 3rd and short. We were good all day. Our coordinator knows what he's doing. Fans generally don't.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
I’m still very concerned that we cannot stop crossing routes. Glasgow does not have the athletic ability to be a starting Linebacker against top B1G opponents.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
Stiller’s think we need to play more Zone. Our defense is predictable.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:25 PM ^
They did just pitch a shutout
September 28th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
McGrone is a plus. He is a player. Play fast, play hard, play smart .
September 28th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
I can and I will be hard on this team. I want greatness from this program. Liked what I saw from McGrone and Da x Hill. Speed on defense is a good thing. Pick it up Don Brown. Put these kids in the best position to succeed.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
beaver can and will be hard on this team. the internet's knees are shaking
September 28th, 2019 at 7:59 PM ^
If we want greatness we need three jumbo DT. we have none. Was shocked Harbaugh didn't get a grad transfer and instead got a DE in Danna. Get a few Gabe Watson's and then this D will play well.
How everybody saw that upcoming hole and he didn't is unbelievable.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
Chris Hinton got a tfl on the last play of the game also it's Rutgers
September 28th, 2019 at 6:04 PM ^
He held his own for the short amount of plays he was in for. He’s gotta have more meaningful snaps at this point. We cannot go forward with Bench.
September 28th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
September 28th, 2019 at 3:32 PM ^
McGrone my biggest takeaway. Definitely best linebacker I have seen on this team this year. Dude needs to start. He a RS freshman or a sophomore?
September 28th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
RS freshman
September 28th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
Cam MF’ing McGrone
That is all.
September 28th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
Who is this McGrone you speak of? I know of a McGroon though!!
September 28th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
McGrone is really good! The DT's are not.
I still think we should be saving the freshman DT's redshirts if we can because we're going to need those guys for several years.
Play them against PSU, MSU, OSU, and maybe Iowa or ND.
September 28th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
Hinton has already played 2 games. He's not redshirting..so yea would be nice to at least play him more than 5 snaps a game in garbage time...
September 28th, 2019 at 4:19 PM ^
Damnit. Ok, nevermind. Get them in the game then.
I figured they would want to redshirt them due to the fact our DL depth is so bad we have a goddamn fullback playing on it.
September 28th, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
Hinton and Smith need to play this year so we cant redshirt them. Weird that Daxton Hill and Mcgrone werent starting the first three games and Smith and Hinton havent had more time.
