DTR caught fire. Gattis should take notes on how to run an offense.
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:56 AM ^
Oh yeah UCLA has looked great on offense this year.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:23 AM ^
Better than us.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
UCLA was averaging 14 points a game coming into this one so don't pretend like they were lighting the world on fire.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:57 AM ^
Did I say they were lighting the world on fire? I just said they are better than us. We’ve not looked as good as they did last night, even against worse competition.
September 22nd, 2019 at 12:57 PM ^
This. UCLA finally start to click after a warmup period of two game garbage.
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:31 AM ^
Nice so even UCLA’s corpse of a program still fights for their sterilized ex-NFL coach.
Meanwhile ours gives up right after Ben Mason fumbles the ball.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:04 AM ^
What an asinine decision that was to give him the ball like that after switching him to DT., so instead of tying the game up right away, it set a terrible tone for the game and the confidence of the team.
I dunno WTF Harbaugh is doing anymore and I'm so tired of the all white road uni's, please bring back the maize pants FFS!
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:15 AM ^
It seemed like a reasonable decision at the time. I wouldn't have thought he had forgotten how to fullback in 8 months. Figured he must have practiced at least a bit.
The fumbles are killing us. And I blame Gattis for that. Harbaugh was a ball security nazi before. We hardly fumbled at all last year.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
My bigger concern is that we keep handing the ball off out of the shotgun without any threat of the QB to run. A fullback who can't dodge anyone and can only power forward is going to lose yards in that situation if the defense assumes the QB is not a threat to run.
It feels like Harbaugh hired a chef with great recipes to run his offense, and instead of getting out of the kitchen and letting Gattis cook, Harbaugh keeps stepping in and adding his own seasonings to Gattis's recipes. You can't throw in little bits of something you like and expect it to work just because it has been good for you in the past.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:15 AM ^
I was waiting for the rpo options where shea keeps it and runs, what happened to that? I didnt see it at all, we did it against Middle Tennesee, ever since the Army game our offense looks different.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
You are a sick man! For the record there is a such person as a halfback coach! Secondly, there is also a such thing as a QB coach! Sorry Einstein but the offensive coordinator that is not calling FULLBACK/DE on two to the right is NOT $&&:)$ responsible for that IDIOTIC call! You figure out who called that play and get back with me!
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:15 AM ^
That's a funny take. Two weeks ago everyone was criticizing goal line offense for not using Mason. Now don't use him? We need to make up our minds.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:26 AM ^
It was a bad playcall from the outset - not likely he could've succeeded on it, fumble aside.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:18 AM ^
I would have been okay with that play if it had been out of the I formation.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
That was not goal line. The overall decision to plow Ben Mason out of the shotgun from 8 yards out screams incoherence. This team's problem is incoherent leadership across the board.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:17 AM ^
True statement, never thought he would just start fumbling though. Its not always the coaches fault. Sorry Ben, i love you but hold on to the damn ball.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:05 AM ^
When they get behind, they open things up and take risks. They play faster and get the ball to their playmakers.
When we get behind, we turtle. And, for some reason, make Ronnie Bell the first read on every pass play.
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:32 AM ^
Must be nice to occasionally put up a fight as an underdog. Good for UCLA, been a shit streak for them. PAC defense doesn’t exactly inspire, but BRUINS are playing with some real heart right now.
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:36 AM ^
Somebody mentioned Mike Leach as the next Michigan coach. lol
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:58 AM ^
And people now are talking up UCLA which has been abysmal this year and until the last 5 minutes against a coach known for having one mind-bogglingly bad loss a year.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:00 AM ^
Exactly, this is why I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near our program.
He's a funny guy and all but I don't want Rich Rod level defenses ever again, even though lately DB's defenses have left a lot to be desired as well.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:50 AM ^
And Ricky Leach as the next QB...
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
Mike Leach might actually be worse than Rich Rod if thats possible
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:40 AM ^
Watching Devin Asiasi catch a TD pass...
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:55 AM ^
UCLA COMES ALL THE WAY BACK TO TAKE THE LEAD -- 60-56!
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:56 AM ^
Lol that's a Rich Rod score. Shudder.
September 22nd, 2019 at 1:59 AM ^
Multiple return TDs will certainly help with a comeback
Oh. And Wash St. just went back up. 63-60. 9 passing TDs for Gordon
We all know this game: it's the quintessential Big 12 shootout.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:04 AM ^
This is just nuts.
WSU QB with 9 passing TDs.
UCLA scored 43 points in 12:00 of game time.
One of those teams will lose.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:09 AM ^
Defense optional
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:16 AM ^
Can mean only one thing...
Hire, Gorgeous Al Borges.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:24 AM ^
Man, it's not nice seeing absolutely no defense. But it's REALLY nice seeing competent offense.
It's possible that the guy who threw 9 TDs is going to lose...
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:24 AM ^
Michigan might even be able to move the ball against these defenses. Do y’all still want mike leach ? Lol
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:31 AM ^
Never a realistic candidate for many obvious reasons. But Leach has taken underdog programs who cant recruit for shit and turned them into winning teams. His achievement at Wazzu is easily more impressive than what Harbaugh did at Stanford.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:38 AM ^
Why is what leach did more impressive than Harbaugh ? They seem very similar. Probably the edge to Harbaugh as of now.
September 22nd, 2019 at 3:35 AM ^
We get could leach for cheaper and he gives more impressive press conferences. I think the point is if we’re going to look like shit we can do it for much less than 7.5-9 million for a slightly above average coach.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
UM has plaenty of money, I dont get that argument are we actually paying his salary? No the university is. Who cares how much hes making.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:41 AM ^
WSU historically is much worse than Stanford.
Stanford has the #4 record all time in PAC (USC, UCLA, Washington ).
WSU has the 2nd worst of long time members (only Oregon St. worse).
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
The difficulty of winning at Stanford has been greatly exaggerated. Yes it was a turnaround, but thats a world famous school with tons of resources located in a big metropolitan area which produces plenty of talent. They can also recruit nationally due to their fame and reputation.
Meanwhile Wazzu is a provincial state school located in a geographically isolated small city in an area that produces very little talent. You need to pull kids out of SoCal, Texas, and sell them on what’s essentially a FCS environment. Leach has won 31 games since 2016, thats one more than Harbaugh at Michigan.
Thats not to say Harbaughs results are terrible, but what Leach did at Wazzu has cemented his status as one of the great coaches of his generation. And of course his offensive approach has been massively influential on the whole sport. (I know Hal Mumme came up with it first but Leach popularized it and developed it further).
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:40 AM ^
Well that’s just ludicrous.
September 22nd, 2019 at 3:40 AM ^
So is continuing to pay Jim Harbaugh for not delivering any meaningful results.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:26 AM ^
BRUINS WIN ON A SACK BY LUCIER-SOUTH!!!
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:27 AM ^
Simply unbelievable.
This is one of those losses - it will stick to Mike Leach for a LONG time. Even for him, this loss is bizarre.
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:25 AM ^
And yet people here think he is some kind of savant when really he's just a weirdo who pushes thoroughly debunked conspiracy theories and loses at least one game a year in idiotically stupid fashion.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:27 AM ^
Crazy score aside, Wazzu gave that game away with some disastrous turnovers and horrendous special teams play. I think some guys may get to know the storage shed a little better the next week (j/k),
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:28 AM ^
Not sure what that left tackle was doing there. A couple of love taps on the DE, followed by allowing your QB to get blindsided for the fumble/loss.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:28 AM ^
Holy shit they won.
I gotta hand it to UCLA. They've had a rough season and then went on the road against a good team and just didn't give up. This could be a major turning point in their season - I'm very interested to see what they do from here on out.
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:31 AM ^
Flag football is unique to watch
September 22nd, 2019 at 2:34 AM ^
Yet people are clamoring for Mike Leach to come here.
He lost to 0-3 UCLA at home with his QB throwing 9 TDs in the game.
Fans around here would be up in arms about that Id say.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:55 AM ^
Well, when a Michigan QB throws 9 TD's in a game let's rally Michigan Fans Worldwide to conference on this site and discuss the future of the program.
Oh wait....
I am clearing my calendar right now.......
