Blackwell exposing Dantonio on Auston Robertson recruitment in deposition
I remember there were quite a few eyebrows raised around here when MSU recruited this guy who had already had a checkered past with regards to sexual assault.
MSU slappies minimized the kid's troubles as high school shenanigans, so naturally that came back to bite em in the ass when he assaulted a fellow teammates' gf on campus.
I wonder how MSU will squirm out of this one.

Something about pride and the fall Mark.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
i think the quote was "it's difficult to have pride during the fall these days in E Lansing"
September 19th, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
Something doesn't smell right with Blackwell's account. Why did he refuse to talk with the investigators that were hired to investigate the incidents? Having said that, this might be the end of the Dantonio reign,
September 19th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
Likely his attorney advised him not to comment on the allegations given he had been arrested when Jones Day came around to interview him.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
Exactly, not enough evidence to charge so he kept clean by not talking
September 19th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
Haha this will not be the end of Mork. He’s more likely to get a raise.
September 19th, 2019 at 11:22 PM ^
I was thinking the same thing... if Mork was okay with a post-legal troubles Glenn Winston, there's no way in hell he was going to turn down Robertson.
September 19th, 2019 at 11:30 PM ^
The weird part is Dantonio turned down Jayru Campbell the year before Robertson. His discretion was anger management issues which is much more palatable than sexual assault.
September 20th, 2019 at 7:31 AM ^
There was video of Jayru Campbell.
September 19th, 2019 at 5:54 PM ^
This might be the excuse they use to get rid of a Mork that’s not winning enough games. If he beats UM and wins 10 games this year he’s golden.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:04 PM ^
Yep not so sure if he needs 10 wins or close to it. It’s the game against us that will factor most of all into their fan’s approval. Another 7-6 season with a win in aa will buy him another year.
September 19th, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
"I remember there were quite a few eyebrows raised around here when MSU recruited this guy who had already had a checkered past with regards to sexual assault."
What?
This guy was wanted by 'Bama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, and a whole parade of other SEC and B1G schools including......us.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
And then nobody was interested in him. And then he went to MSU. Because Mork didn’t care about the thing everyone else cared about.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^
No, everybody was interested in him. And then he went to MSU. And then the fans said "we didn't want him anyway." Just like virtually every other time a recruit ever goes anywhere else.
The official fact is that he had a scholarship offer to Michigan and we were in his top three.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
"We."
Yeah, ok.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
I've been posting here for years. Not one single adverse interaction until this post. Is there something about my interest in having opinions based in fact that makes you think I'm somehow not a Michigan fan?
September 19th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
From your history it looks like you pretty much only post in threads about MSU - and in defense of MSU, which makes it fairly simple to put two and two together.
Fans of other programs aren't forbidden from posting here, but they should be open about it. Pretending to be a Michigan fan is certainly frowned upon.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:59 PM ^
Nice try. Making arguments completely devoid of fact is bad - lying to deflect is even worse.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:07 PM ^
Devoid of fact; dude, that's the entirety of your time arguing in this topic.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
Unfortunately for you every single claim I have made is completely undisputed and corroborated by official sources.
The only source of controversy is a bunch of nimrods saying "nuh uh."
September 19th, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
If only saying it made it true.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:02 PM ^
Sure, I'll bite. Find one claim I've made in this thread that is not supported by indisputable fact. My claim is that Michigan wanted Robertson. In fact Michigan offered Robertson a scholarship. Literally nobody disputes that. It's a fact.
The counter is that we actually didn't want Robertson. That is not based on fact - it is controverted by fact. It is based entirely on "I want it to be true so it must be true."
September 19th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
Verbal offers early in the process are often not committable. There are many players who report offers from schools that don't materialize in actual recruitments. Robertson reporting he had an offer from Michigan does not mean he was being recruited by Michigan months later. I suggest you educate yourself on how these early verbal offers work because your argument's premise is false.
https://www.si.com/college-football/2019/02/05/uncommittable-offers-recruiting-national-signing-day
The fact that Michigan and no other schools showed any interest after he reopened his recruitment after Signing Day is telling; he made no official or unofficial visits except to MSU after Signing Day. There are certain signs that show that a player is being actively recruited: official/unofficial visits, coaches visiting your school, in-home visits, and reported contact from coaches that show up in interviews with the player from recruiting sites. Robertson received none of these from Michigan after he got in trouble, but he did receive them from MSU.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
How about the revisionist history that it was only after he signed with MSU that people here didn't want him?
September 19th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
Alright, let's see what you've got then. Robertson visited Michigan on May 30, 2015 -- a week later he committed to MSU (June 7, 2015).
Win the thread for everybody and show me where Michigan fans did not want Auston Robertson prior to June 7, 2015.
September 19th, 2019 at 8:09 PM ^
Prior to June 7th, 2015, he was not in trouble with the law. No one cares about what happened prior to June 7th, 2015. They only care about what happened after he got in trouble with the law and booted from high school.
Robertson does not sign with MSU on Signing Day 2016 because of his legal issues and reopens his recruitment. At no point after he gets in trouble with the law is there any evidence that Michigan or any other school was recruiting him--no visits or reported calls from any coaches. But MSU does continue to recruit him despite being banned from his high school, charged with sexual assault, and pleading into a pretrial diversionary program.
September 19th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
That's not what I said. Try again.
September 19th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
Posting to see how thin we can progress through this discussion. Single letters?
September 19th, 2019 at 11:18 PM ^
Getting closer.
September 19th, 2019 at 11:05 PM ^
Must be a bummer to call someone out and say "win the thread" only for them to provide a bunch of legit info. Still no rebuttal..
September 20th, 2019 at 7:37 AM ^
Just for the record, it's possible for kids visiting to be giant douche bags and get themselves eliminated from consideration during their visits. This happened sometimes in my graduate program and I'm sure it also happens in the football program.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
If you are a Michigan fan then that's even worse because you're a 97.1 listener.
It's all a grand ESPN conspiracy, I know. There, there shhhh.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
Those schools offer like 300 athletes a year. They definitely are not going to bring in every single one of them. Just because an athlete gets a scholarship offer, does not necessarily mean the school is recruiting them hard or doesn't later change it's mind on whether or not they want someone to commit.
This shouldn't need to be pointed out.
September 19th, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
Offers go out. Due diligence gets done. Offers get pulled privately. You’re not that stupid.
September 19th, 2019 at 5:08 PM ^
So you're telling me that you know there would be no evidence if we did in fact pull the offer, and yet you're still firmly committed to the idea that we must've pulled the offer?
You're not that stupid.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
Stop saying "we", troll. You've been exposed. Just crawl back to RCMB.
September 19th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
Does it really make you feel better to just call someone a Spartan fan every time you get absolutely obliterated in an argument?
September 19th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Spartybrian, you're kind of getting clowned here. Are you Jemele Hill?
September 19th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
No, everbody backed off toward the end when he had another assault. Everybody but staee.
Sorry that doesn’t fit your bullshit narrative
September 19th, 2019 at 4:44 PM ^
According to this timeline on 247 Robertson committed to MSU the summer before his senior year. Now that doesn't excuse them from giving him a scholarship after he was kicked out of his HS.

September 19th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
Robertson was recruited, sure, but could never pass the vetting process at numerous other schools, including Michigan. They took him after he was expelled for groping a girl in a school lobby.
September 19th, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
Given how MSU was rolling at that stage, doing that might have been an entry REQUIREMENT.
A friend of ours was talking about a postdoc there there other day--I believe we talked her out of it. Not a good place to be a woman.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
Pretty shitty to try and talk a good friend out of going there for her postdoc, especially if it's the best fit financially and stuff. Not many college campuses are good places to be a woman, so seems like a shitty thing to do honestly.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
Way to mansplain why someone should choose MSU for a postdoc.
September 20th, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
She's a bright woman with plenty of options, didn't know the place recently suffered the worst serial rape crisis in U.S. history. I stand by urging her to investigate and possibly steer clear.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:01 PM ^
He was arrested in January of his senior year. Pretty much every school you mentioned had stopped recruiting him by that point, but Sparty signed him two months later despite it all.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:05 PM ^
According to...you?
Sure, whatever you say man.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:10 PM ^
LOL. He got banned from his own high school during his senior year. Robertson was dropped by most everyone except MSU. Robertson had only one official visit: MSU. Even MSU couldn't take him right away on Signing Day, and I am interested to see if anyone in admissions tried to push back before admitting. After Signing Day, he announced he was reopening his recruitment, but there were no reports of any other school getting involved that followed. Later that spring, MSU reconsidered their position after he entered a pretrial diversionary program. It was insane.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:14 PM ^
Yeah, sure, according to...literally nobody who could actually know that.
You can completely make things up if it makes you feel better.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
That is precisely what you are doing.
Incident occurs in October 2015 https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2628947-auston-robertson-to-michigan-state-spartans-land-4-star-de-prospect.amp.html
He visited Michigan unofficially 5 months prior.
