We aren’t anywhere close to being a top 10 team right now. This is really strange because Beilein teams usually improve but this team has severely regressed offensively.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Michigan is ahead by 17 AT Indiana, and they're not playing anywhere near a top 10 team? I just don't get it. What do you want, a shutout?
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Haha - you say that as if Indiana is any good. Indiana is trash. This ain’t your daddy’s Hoosiers.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Indiana made 4 shots the entire half with their best player on the bench for 12 minutes
January 25th, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
Yes, IU is playing poorly, but so what? We're ahead by a huge margin, so obviously we're playing far better than they are.
Our defense is contributing to their poor offense.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
that's because it's hard for people to comprehend good D in basketball. the pundits are they same way. they love teams like unc because they can score in bunches sometimes but ignore their horrendous D. D almost never slumps.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:51 PM ^
No one is complaining about the d. The d was fantastic. However the team was outscored 18-16 over 15 minutes vs Indiana team without their best player.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
Wow lotta you guys shitting on Livers...hope you feel better
January 25th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
It's cool they're just padding the rebounding numbers today.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:31 PM ^
Missing so many wide open 3s, it's insanely frustrating.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:31 PM ^
What a terrible shot by Matthews my god
January 25th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Say what you will, their crowd is amazing.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
Yeah, like when they were booing their own team?
January 25th, 2019 at 7:52 PM ^
They're the Michigan football of hoops. Constantly in BPONE and mad at the world
January 25th, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
I feel like I'm watching a Rutgers vs Illinois football game
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Should have held on to it until the end of the shot clock. Gave Indiana a full 30 to work with.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
IU would have had about 8 seconds left if we held it for all 30 seconds. That's plenty of time to get downcourt and score. I'd rather take the open 3 attempt.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Get a 17-0 start and do nothing with it.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Are you watching a different fucking game?! We're up....15. Were we literally not supposed to let them score? Have you seen the rotations we've used getting bench guys minutes?! WE'RE UP 15 IN ASSEMBLY HALL
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Geez. Why do you even watch?
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Could have been a bigger lead, but it's a road game, I'll take it. Teske'll be back to start the 2nd half.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Everything's (not) Archie!
January 25th, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Matthews is bad
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Holy crap this team. Indiana blows and any kind of run they make in 2nd half will be a game.
Charles WTH was that? Livers WTH was that ? Offense, this game should be over.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
This game is awful. The team is completely off sync on offense. Is Jim Harbaugh coaching the team?
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Michigan offense was rough or we would have a 40 point lead.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
My first half thoughts:
Yes, that was basketball
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Man, that was a mess after the first five.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Livers got away with one there.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
My god people, we're ahead by 15 at half - can't you be a little bit happy?
Lowest scoring half for IU this season. That's a fantastic defensive performance on the road.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
True, but IU is not playing good D. We could have had 50 points easily
January 25th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
Michigan holds IU to their lowest first-half point total of the season; Mgoblog fans: we suck.
Self-hatred is a crazy thang.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
Livers had a rough half but Matthews is just plain bad right now
January 25th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
Livers hasn’t been able to hit a shot in 3 games. He did the same thing last year when he started off hot and then fell off the map.
He did bring good energy out there and had a few good chances.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
We played even bball with IU those last 12 minutes.
That is bad. Luckily a 17-0 lead pretty much ends the game when the other team can only get 18 in a half
January 25th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
Beileins toes touch the court and refs push him back, fucking psychopath miller is on the free throw line spitting on people. Dude is legit all Hyde and no Jekyll. Also pretty sure if he spent some time coaching instead of pointing at every pivot foot maybe his teams wouldn't suck ass
January 25th, 2019 at 7:45 PM ^
Yeah, he seems far less mature than the players he's coaching. How is his demeanor helpful?
January 25th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
Looked like we got away with one at the end there. I'm still very disappointed by the offense this half. I'm not sure what is going on, but that's 3 games now where we can't hit anything it seems. The game should be over, but IU can get back into it a little run.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
I played against that prick Archie Miller in high school and seeing his team collapse is very satisfying.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
Well I guess only we Michigan fans could be pissing and moaning being up 15 at half.
I really though Indiana was ripe for a win being desperate and all.
Hope Michigan is more efficient with the O in 2nd
January 25th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
We should be up by 20+. Indiana managed to even play worse on offense.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Completely agree. Should be second team time already.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
Good thing Indiana has been terrible because that wasn't a great half.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
Need to stop all this step-back 3 shit. Drive to the hoop and make IU defend.
Teske out most of the 2nd half was not good. He is elite in the high ball pick and roll. Plays great defense.
Key to 2nd half. Be patient and go to the hoop !!!
January 25th, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
This game is very confusing. I think the most confusing aspect, though, is that we seem to have run-of-the-mill incompetent officiating instead of the Assembly Hall Special. The horrific calls seem to be more-or-less balanced...
Michigan's played some great defense, but there's a lot of luck in those numbers. Indiana had quite a few good looks crawl off.
The offense looked great when the starting unit was out there, and not so much otherwise.
First one to 55 wins.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
Michigan Field goal % = 44.8, 3Pt % = 25.0, FT % = 50.0
Indiana Field goal % = 20.0, 3Pt % = 10.0, FT % = 53.8
Im not kidding...
January 25th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Michigan scored 17 points in the first 5 minutes.
Then proceeded to score 16 points over 15 minutes. Woooooof
January 25th, 2019 at 7:40 PM ^
Also, third game in a row M is avg’ing below a point per possession.
Broken
January 25th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Hopefully with Teske coming back in our offense will start clicking again. This first four minute segment will tell the story.
January 25th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
Bright spot...Iggy looks solid tonight. Second half of Minny + this first half, hopefully he’s back to early season form.
I said this before. Poole & Iggy are the wildcards. They are the ones who have “Star” capabilities to make others better and be dominant. Z and Teske solid, but limited to a degree. We know what we get in Matthews. Wow, his shot on some misses is so bad. He might be the worst dribbler I have seen, hasn’t improved that at all since last year.
The one glaring weakness with this team is no go to shooter. All their shooters are streaky. We don’t have a Duncan Robinson on this team, and at times it’s very glaring how bad they are at shooting from outside. But we knew this going in. Sort of disappointed in Livers, early season he made all open 3’s. Not so much anymore.
