When will PSU game time be announced?
I’ll be in Ann Arbor for the PSU weekend. I wouldn’t be able to make a night game but if it’s an afternoon game will try and find tickets. Any idea when they’ll announce kickoff, or any insight on if this’ll be a night game? Thinking it’s way too late in the season to be doing night games, but would still be electric (but cold!)

I like noon games. Spank Pedophile State U and send them home early
October 21st, 2018 at 12:59 PM ^
I like 3:30 games. I can get in a full day of chores in before I spend the rest of the day laying on the couch guilt free.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
Guilt is such a worthless, overrated emotion. Noon games rule! Start drinking at 10:00 am, and assign any chores for the day to your wife and/or girlfriend. Tell them to do the chores quietly. Profit.

Sounds like a decision you'll pay for later. Unless you date a pushover.

Minnesota was a night game last year and it was also the first week in November as this game is.
Monday to answer your question.
October 21st, 2018 at 11:26 AM ^
Doesn't the school have to agree to this? Night games after Nov 1, can be turned down by the home team. Not sure, but I thought this was the case.
October 21st, 2018 at 11:27 AM ^
The first weekend in November is the last week TV can just decide. For the last three weeks of the season the schools have to agree.
October 21st, 2018 at 11:51 AM ^
OK, got it, thanks.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:34 PM ^
Isn't there a rule a school can't be forced into more than 3 night games in a 2 year span? There was 2 last year and 1 this year.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:25 PM ^
No. 3 is the minimum they have to have in 2 years. They can have additional ones. PSU was expected as a night game, but who knows now after their MSU loss?
October 21st, 2018 at 2:13 PM ^
This article from the Detroit News from last year says otherwise.
"Michigan has agreed to host up to three night games in two years, so there will be two either this season or next."
If thats true then Penn State will not be a night game since last year was two games.
October 21st, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
That agreement won't prohibit another night game, only that neither Fox nor Michigan can demand another night game.
October 21st, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
Nope. It’s the networks call
I was w president shissel at the Wisconsin game he said if psu and us both won it would be a night game.
Didn’t like it because it’s the end of our fundraising cycle and they would do other events. But he literally said “ they pay us enough, it’s their call”.
October 21st, 2018 at 11:26 AM ^
Fox/ESPN still have a 6 day hold in their pocket. So either tomorrow around 11am or Next Sunday around 11am.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:01 PM ^
If it’s a 6 day hold, it cannot be a night game.

I was just headed over here to post the same question, and am eager to see the response. I'll be at a convention in Boston and will have to plan well to cut out and watch.
While we're at it, I'm staying in the Downtown Crossing area near a lot of the historical sites, and the convention itself is a mile or so east of there. If it doesn't need to be a "Michigan bar", where on that beaten path is a good place to post up and watch Michigan throttle Penn St? Beer availability is a must.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
Boston Bar, Sidebar, and Beantown Pub are all listed as nearby places to your convention site in the downtown crossing area.
October 21st, 2018 at 2:10 PM ^
Are these from personal experience (what I was hoping for) or is this "let me Google that for you" territory?
October 21st, 2018 at 5:51 PM ^
lord hobo has an amazing beer selection. It would be a quick trip on the T or a short Uber from downtown crossing

I always prefer noon games. Except for this game. Am renting an RV (first time!) and parking at Fingerle for a party of 25. Of course, I want a night game this one time.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:11 PM ^
I was also at Fingerle in an RV for the first time, in a night game, last week against Wisconsin.
It was awesome. I highly recommend it. A night game is a whole different animal.
It's expensive ($450), but get the power hookup option at Fingerle. You'll use it.

I'll be racing Iceman in the morning and drinking many Bell's beers afterwards. Hoping for something later in the day.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:19 PM ^
Not that anyone here would think I am credible (never post, point total etc) but I hear its a night game from inside the program

and is Gary playing?

I actually hope a night game. Give them a maize out and beat the crap out of them. Also, has there been any more news on Webber being an honorary captain? I remember when Harbaugh called into the radio. PSU would be perfect.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
As others said, tomorrow at the earliest.
That said, it's important for me to know the time of this game because my wife is trying to schedule some family events and I need to have my case for rebuttal ready as soon as possible.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
Would love this to be a night game Maize out...seriously think it would be glorious with the enthusiasm right now
October 21st, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
WD said a few weeks ago his inside source said it's a night game.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:14 PM ^
Well if even he admits it, it must be true.
He'd be the last to acknowledge the possibility of a night game.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:47 PM ^
That's not how it works, though. It's not like there is a game time that was selected several weeks ago and they were keeping it secret until tomorrow--it would be counter-productive to keep it a secret for an hour, let alone a month. Michigan finds out the game time when it's announced by the Big Ten and by the networks. Until then, it's just educated guesses.
Most likely: 7:30 on ABC.
Second most likely: 3:30 on FOX (and ABC shows Notre Dame at Northwestern at 7:30).
The networks choose tomorrow; we find out what they choose tomorrow at the same time the athletic department finds out. Or, if they don't choose tomorrow, they limit themselves to noon or 3:30 for their options.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:50 PM ^
My guess is a night game. Give them a fucking beatdown, in prime time, on national television.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:55 PM ^
Everything I've heard says night game.
October 21st, 2018 at 3:22 PM ^
Advanced forecast calls for high temp low 50s and a low in the upper 30s for Nov. 3rd. Don't laugh they are pretty damn accurate forecasting temps that far out. Precipitation is much more difficult.

As a relative old dude, I vote for an afternoon kick. (Otherwise it's past my bedtime!)
October 21st, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
October 21st, 2018 at 1:50 PM ^
Except it’s not.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:30 PM ^
The question is: which does ABC choose for their night game--Penn State at Michigan or Notre Dame at Northwestern? I can see either one, from a ratings standpoint.
If they do pick ND-Northwestern, then Michigan-Penn State ends up on FOX, likely at 3:30 because FOX would then have 3 big games: WVU-Texas, M-PSU, Stanford-Washington. WVU-Texas isn't exactly a ratings magnet outside of the B12 footprint, so that's almost certainly a noon game. Stanford-Washington makes more sense for the night game if ABC is showing ND-Northwestern at night, so that would push M-PSU to 3:30.

Night Game - Tomorrow
Noon/3:30 - Next Monday

Really rooting for a nooner, got a family wedding (yes, I know, it’s awful, but it’s family) at 5ish, and tickets to the game. 3:30 we can at least do a half and go straight to the reception. Night, I’m watching a gamecast on my phone. The worst.
October 21st, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
I think umbig11 all but guaranteed it would be a night game
October 21st, 2018 at 4:36 PM ^
It will be at 3:30 now.
October 21st, 2018 at 4:51 PM ^
Are you seeing that anywhere officially?
October 21st, 2018 at 3:12 PM ^
A Michigan insider posted that he talked to someone from the "network" and they said Michigan is "Hot". The network person said good chance Michigan vs PSU a night game.
October 21st, 2018 at 4:23 PM ^
According to my Amazon Alexa, when I asked her the Michigan score this morning (because I had to), she said that Michigan's next game will be against Penn State at 8 PM.
So...
Take that for what it's worth. Perhaps not much. But there you go.
October 21st, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
I presume this is Michigan telling the network "No"?
