Defense wins championships. Five of the six times the #1 offense played the #1 defense, the defense won the game. Make it six of seven now.

When did the number one offense win?
February 3rd, 2014 at 12:29 AM ^
49ers were the only number 1 offense to beat a number one defense in points allowed. Importantly, the niners had the 3rd best scoring defense. That San Francisco team was very good, 2 losses by combined 5 points.

Manning is 33/46? wtf. I feel like those stats are from a different game.

You have to be happy for Seattle. Their city has won one championship in the four major sports, and the franchise that won it (Sonics) is located in Oklahoma City now.

They give those thanksgiving game awards to an entire unit. Should be able to do it in the SB too :) That entire defense deserves it.
February 2nd, 2014 at 9:52 PM ^
Seattle's first SB appearance was as the loser in SB XL at Ford Field.
February 2nd, 2014 at 9:55 PM ^
Interesting fact about that game: Jerome Bettis is from Detroit.

February 2nd, 2014 at 9:54 PM ^
great strategy - put all the good commercials in the last 2 minutes of the game. That only works in competitive games.
February 2nd, 2014 at 9:54 PM ^
They saved all the best commercials for the end because they thought it'd be a close, intense game. Whoops.

But it's particularly funny for the NFL, which a) is a sport basically no one outside the U.S. and Canada plays and b) doesn't even have a token Canadian team.

Hey, at least New Jersey will collect income taxes from all the players, coaches and everyone else that had anything to do with the Super Bowl.
February 2nd, 2014 at 10:21 PM ^

professional athletes are responsible for paying all taxes in all locations they perform. They are a pain in the ass
The NFL as an organization is another story.
