Who would you like to see Michigan play in the bowl game?
I'd like to see Florida in a bowl game in the state of Florida. They have a good defense but their offense is awful.
Since the Rose Bowl is most likely out of the question even if Michigan wins the rest of their games, they'd need state to shit the bed three times.
If Michigan wins out, they could get an at-large bid to a BCS ala 2011.
B1G tie ins
- Capital One Bowl - B1G 2 vs SEC 2
- Outback Bowl - B1G 3 vs SEC 3/4
- Gator Bowl - B1G 4/5 vs SEC 6
- Buffalo Wild Wings- B1G 4/5 vs Big 12 4
- Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas- B1G 6 vs Big 12 6
- Heart of Dallas Bowl - B1G 7 vs C-USA 3
- Little Caesars Pizza Bowl- B1G 8 vs MAC 1/2

msu has sparty noo! with losses @neb and @nw
neb looses to UM and wins out
UM wins out
this causes a 3 way tie and Michigan would win the tie breaker to go on to play in B10
beat osu again and play stanford in the rosebowl
Hey, you asked me what I wanted.

In that scenerio because UM has 2 losses, Neb has 2 losses, MSU has 2 losses. Neb beats msu, msu beats UM, and UM beats Neb. Tie goes to divisional games and msu would then haven 2 divisional losses being to NW and Neb and UM would only have one to msu.

I was going to root for MSU to lose all of the rest of their games, just for the hell of it. You mean to tell me that there is some math behind it?

Why would we want to take Notre Dame's "record" for worst showing in the BCS title game... Or does LSU have that "record"?

If we win the next three in strong fashion and play OSU close, I'm OK with a Cap 1 or Outback bowl against a no 3 team from the SEC or Big 12.
If we win out and beat OSU (dreaming here) an at-large BCS game would be fun, but not a one-loss Oregon or Alabama. I'm still not sleeping from last Saturday.
I want a game that is competitive and one where we match up well with the opponent. Unfortunately, Michigan isn't as good as I'd like us to be.

"If Michigan wins out, they could get an at-large bid to a BCS ala 2011."
I would love this to happen, but a lot of higher ranked teams will have to lose a lot games. I don't see it happening. After all, what was our best win so far? Notre Dame?
November 5th, 2013 at 8:25 PM ^
If Michigan wins out, ending OSU's 23-game winning streak would be our best win.
November 5th, 2013 at 10:51 PM ^
I believe that's only one game more than their win streak in 1969.
Just saying.

So saying that Michigan "could get an at-large bid" is probably more likely than "Michigan wins out". The chance of both happening are probably under 1%.
But since I like these analyses for their own sake, here goes:
There are 4 BCS "at-large" spots if no team manages to auto-qualify beyond the 2 NC spots and the 6 spots given to the AQ conferences. But Fresno State and Northern Illinois, both ahead of top-ranked Big East Louisville, will likely each claim a spot if they win out against inferior competition. Plus we would have to get ahead of Sparty (Sparty losing to OSU plus us beating OSU by scenario definition might do it), and we'd have to get ahead of Wiscy (needs to drop one of its remaining games.) The two leagues with the NC participants (two of SEC, PAC-12, ACC) will not be able to send a third team to the BCS, so that leaves two at-large spots to come from the B1G and
- the BIG 12 (OU, Baylor, OkieSt less the champion)
- the Big East (not happening)
and the non NC participating league
- PAC-12 (Oregon, Stanford, UCLA less the champion)
- ACC (FSU, Clemson, Miami less the champion)
- SEC (a gazillion teams that would be taken in front of us)
If either Fresno St or N. Illinios were to lose, then the B1G would almost surely get an at-large bid, and we'd just have to get in front of MSU & Wiscy. If not, I could see us being taken over Baylor or Okie St for "butts in seats" reasons.
That was fun. But again, the ~95% chance of another Michigan loss will likely make this all moot (albeit interesting to geeks like me).

I will just work from some of the existing prognostications for now. Some of the projections that have come out in the last few days have us playing opponents like Georgia, Texas and LSU, among others. Of all of these current predictions, I would have to say that Texas is the one that sort of makes me stroke the ol' goatee and wonder, "Hmmm...."

Would get us in the Gator Bowl (memories) or the Buffalo wild wings bowl.
A Gator Bowl would get us Georgia, LSU, or Texas A&M. Out of those three I say AM, because it would be a fun game to watch and it would make our offense look really good. And our defense pathetic.
Buffalo Wild Wings will probably be Texas Tech or Texas. I would like to see Borges vs Robinson. Texas Tech's offense will shred our secondary.

If anybody remembers correctly, 2011 only happened because we managed to be top 14 in the BCS by the end. Considering we're unranked with 4 to play that ain't happening. Especially since 3/4 of those games are against also unranked teams. And the 4th team is Ohio. If we somehow manage to beat them I think its more likely they tank in the rankings then us catapult. Their schedule kinda sucks. A lot.

Good call on Florida State. That is a long memory, my man. Before that 1991 game, Michigan had never been handled by a speedy team from the south. They dropped a heartbreaker to Miami in 1988, lost to Charles Rodgers in 1980, but a 20 point loss was virtually unheard of during the Bo Era.
