I had him to ND, just based off the fact that he's got brothers at other schools... I believe that includes Notre Dame. Also, Michigan's got a bunch of young guys on the offensive line and his brother is not currently in the mix for a starting position. I think we get another OL, just not sure who that is. I'd love Jones from Chicago, but he's supposedly an Ohio lean.

Yeah, sucks as the kid is good but our connection was his Brother. He also had a strong (stronger?) connection to nd. Would have wanted him in this class so it stings but I'm not at all shocked by the choice. Never considered Alex a "lock" once I learned his story. When I first heard of him and we had Blake I thought he was good as ours. After hearing connections to nd and.....psu (IIRC)...I realized we were at best strongly in the running. Best to him except the one time we play them while he is a domer. haha

Yeah, I disagree with that as well.  Not every OT is 6'6" (in fact most aren't) and he's a great OL prospect.  We have a lot of guys right now who could play OT or OG, and though Jones might end up a guard, his height will not keep him from playing tackle.

People put way too much emphasis on height for these guys, especially since (like 40 times) most of them are exaggerated by an inch or two.  Plus, not every 6'7" guy has longer arms than every 6'4" guy, and that's the important part anyway.

Shucks. It looks like Ace will never have a 100% score on his 24/7 predictions. It's okay. As long as Peppers commits all will be forgiven.

Westphal, Hand, McDowell, Peppers, and Williams. Finish 2nd for Smith (ND or stays west), Scott (UF), Winovich (OSU) and Jones (OSU). Assuming we have 4 more spots...who are the targets? OL, SLB, S would seem like the positions that we'd need to fill. Plus one "best available" type.

If anyone doesn't choose us, they're the loser...not us. And even if they did go elsewhere, I still have us with a SICK class and 4 spots left. A couple names have surfaced at SLB, Magnus just named a couple for OL, not sure about S though.

Since Grant Irons.

Seriously though, good luck to him. Can't trash talk the brother of a Wolverine. He went where his heart is, and that's what it's all about.

Not too upset considering out OL hauls the last two years. Also considering we are in on numerous top recruits, i'm fine with getting developmental guys like JBB and letting them sit.

The Chicago Tribune had a direct quote from Alex Bars (HERE):

"I thought about it real hard for like the last month," Bars told Irish Illustrated. "Pressure started coming on and spots started filling up. I just realized that was the school for me."

The ESPN blog (HERE) has a little more too. Bars had said that he knew about a week ago, but his parents encouraged him to wait and make sure he was going where he really wanted.

Best of luck to Alex Bars.

I was hoping he'd be like his brother and go blue.

I had heard from someone close to the Doles family that after UM's latest OL commit that the coaches called Tommy and told him they no longer had a spot for him.  (Shortly after talking to teh UM coaches Doles commited to NW.)  So I'm guessing that any UM offers to OL will only go to tackles.

but good luck to Mr. Bars nonetheless.  With only one more spot to fill (presumably) we have lots of time still to find a good player.  The coaches may have to fire up the printer and print off a few more offer letters, but that's what paper is for.
