That's sad. It's also a heck of a lot of money.

I'd buy it and use it for my wedding ring

Ugh. It's times like this that I wish I had millions so I could just buy it and give it back to the guy or the university.

That is downright appalling. Rumeal is a scumbag. You never, ever, do anything intentionally to harm your parents. Never.

And make her lose her house just "screwed up." The fact that after doing this he somehow deserves someone else buying his ring for thousands of dollars and giving it to him is laughable. But hey, I'm sure you can buy something for Ted Kaczynski too, because we wouldn't want to judge.
I'm not defending what he did, but he's paying for his actions. I don't think "Fuck Rumeal Robinson" helps anything.

That's a laughable price. I've seen Super Bowl rings go for like $10k.

On second look, there's a bunch of Super Bowl rings on ebay for like $1-2k. Those things have really come down in price.

Aren't the gems alone worth more than that? And I would expect a bball national championship ring to be worth more since there are far fewer of them for a given team and more people heavily invested emotionally in college teams than pro teams. I don't know if I would expect thaaat much of a difference but I bet someone out there would pay 90 thousand.

is not even close to realistic. I think the cache of a SB ring makes it more valuable than an NCAA ring. It is marketable to much fewer people since only alumni/wealthy fans would be interested whereas a SB ring would have anyone want one.

Agree to disagree. I think the number of devoted Michigan fans is bigger than the number of devoted fans of any one pro team nationwide. If I had the money I'd much rather have a UofM national championship ring than a Lions superbowl ring. I'm not really the type that would spend money on something like that even if I had it though, so maybe I'm wrong.

If you see a Lions Superbowl ring, don't buy it. I'm 99.9% certain that it will be fake.

It may have a cache of gems, but it has cachet.

Part of it is that there are so many more rings for football than really any other sport. I mean, ever guy on the roster gets one, plus people in the organization deemed essential to the success. so every year, they could have over a hundred floating around.

I hope his mother sees some of the money when it sells...It is unbelievable what he did to her.

Read the fine print - the seller sounds like a sleazebag. 200% money back guarantee if it's deemed not real. I guess a transaction under these circumstances is sleazy.

Since the going price for a Heisman trophy is between $200k-$300k, I'm thinking $90k is a little optimistic for the ring. An enterprising MGoBlogger should start a kickstarter campaign... I'm thinking $15k might be enough to get it and send it over to Crisler

He's selling other championship rings between 1k and 9k. Its odd that this one is so much more. He may have accidentally made it 90k instead of 9k??
Practically all those rings in the 1K to 9K ranges are called Salesmen Samples. Theyare the samples/duplicates of the actual rings given to the specific players. Actual player rings worth a whole lot more, but 90K is way too high.

Perhaps they think a lot people remember the free throws.
I think it's a good idea to invoke the MVictors eBay championship ring caveats here. We don't know how this ring got to where it is. Rumeal could have given it to somebody, it could have been lost or stolen and is now being resold, etc. etc.
Rumeal, largely by his own doing, has gotten himself in a lot of trouble over the years. But we don't know how this ring got here, and it's not right to jump to conclusions about how or why it is being sold.
Sounds like a plan. You pull the trigger now, she pulls the trigger when she wakes up.
It may be priced high because it has "Mission Accomplished" on it. How wierd.

Mission Accomplished was a team slogan of sorts during the '89 tournament run.

A lot of those SB rings were not owned by the players. Most organizations hand out SB rings (usually with less jewels and whatnot) to everybody in the organization, including executives, assistants, trainers, etc. Some teams give out hundreds of rings. Hence, they do not fetch that much in the market. A ring liked this owned by a key player on the team is going to be worth much much more.
That he has had this thing, in his possession at any point during the last 10 years... meanwhile this guys has been either sitting on it, or whomever has been sitting on it for some time.
Kickstarter to buy it and return it to Rumeal? Nice gesture?
