OT: Obligatory Friday "What are you doing?" Posbang Thread
Its that time again! Time to find out what everyone is up to this fine Friday morning/afternoon. What are you up to? Any good plans for the weekend?
Me, I'm sitting at my desk as usual. Trying to stay awake. I've been up since 12:30am taking care of child-rearing obligations and I'm exhausted. Staring at a computer screen does not help keep the eyes open either.
Still trying to sell my car and get a new one. Selling a car as a private seller is a lot of damn work. Not to mention the fact that I've gotten 2 scam emails thus far. They are hilarious. The respondent is claiming to be at sea without access to cell phone but access to email. They say they'll pay asking price and ask for my PayPal account because that's the only way they can pay. Idiots. I responded to one saying "Nice try. Go scam someone else. Oh, and I just reported you to the authorities." F-ers.
P.S. I'm going to posbang my own thread again because its fun and it feels good.
P.P.S. Chick-fil-A for lunch today! Mmm mmm good.
I am at my desk nibbling at my lunch and reading MGoBlog when I perhaps should be finishing up all the first-of-the-month reports on planning productivity, volume of work issued, backlogged designs, and things of that nature. I also have a few e-mails that I suppose I could answer regarding mischarged capital work orders, but it is Friday and such things do cross the line of how deep I want to think, financially speaking.
These things are very difficult to concentrate on when you have a raging sinus infection and can barely stay awake, of course. I do try to look somewhat managerial when I nod off, however, lest people in this building question why I was allowed to take this position in the first place. The answer to that is simple, of course - I caused far too much trouble when I was actually designing jobs.
that I hope doesn't turn into a sinus infection.
That cartoon made me laugh hysterically (followed by a paroxysm of hacking) because it is essentially my life. I have paperwork on the left side of my desk that explains the paperwork on the right side of my desk. They told us we were going to be paperless within five years back in 2007, but then I get a memo telling me that the average employee here prints 10,000 pages per year. Where DOES it all come from?
that can be found here and has many coffee-spitting slides on the way. Enjoy
Potentially a date this weekend.
Other than that, lots of sleep, mad men (I just started watching, thank you Netflix), and constantly checking this blog for any information I can get (Maurice Hurst, please?)
WHO WANTS A MOUSTACHE RIDE?!
Just got done rounding on patients, now I'm enjoying some delicious Taco Bell.
I'm busy celebrating the fact that this post brings my MGoPoints total to 1776.
"You're welcome" to anyone else who will be humming "so lick my butt and suck on my balls" for the rest of the day.
Setting up a tee time for tomorrow morning and reading MGoBlog the rest of the day. Woot woot.
about winning the lottery this weekend and then retiring.
if not then maybe I will join a cult....anybody know of any good ones?
I'm pretty sure we're all already in one. Is there enough time in a day for two cults?
Classic Adam Sandler: What do you have to do that's so important that you can't join a cult? The night time is the right time.
I loved that CD, I really liked the this 'skit' and the one with the talking goat.
It definitely is a great cd. The Goat is my favorite along with Dip Doodle (pretty sure that was the name of it).
Yea, for work. Kids are done with school now, so maybe some pool action this weekend.
I'm trying to post pics of the senior's SEAL training, and failing miserably.
edit - figgered it out.
Have a good weekend all.
Take a sh-tload of practice exams. It'll make you feel much more comfortable among the 1000s sitting around you.
PMBR does a good job on practice exams for the MBE
Sending out emails for my sports agency internship, followed by picking up a burrito and watching the Heat-Celtics game tonight.
Steps to obtain sports agency internship:
(1) Begin the email with these very important words: "Dear Mr. Pelinka"
(2) Write a few gushing sentences about how smooth his jumpshot was and how you are extremely jealous of his hair
(3) Profit (unless it's an unpaid internship)
Compling with number 2 is easy enough for me.
I am thinking about heading to detroit tonight to hit one of their fine casinos. I hate Greektown (auto shuffle continous deck for blackjack). Does anyone have suggestions on their favorite Detroit Casino?
I'm not a casino or gambling person, but go to a casino once in a while. I've been to Greektown and thought it was so-so. I didn't gamble much, but my friend got bent over pretty badly.
Are you on PS3?
PC my friend, where first person shooters are made to be played! :)
Dammit. Agreed. I'm already into the PS3 too deeply to change now. Wish I knew how much better controls are in PC before I started.
To follow up my post from last week's "what are you doing" thread, I asked my lady to marry me, and she said yes! Done a lot of celebrating recently, certainly enjoyable.
Tomorrow, I am working the Detroit City FC game (at 1 PM, everyone should come!), then heading up to Mt. Pleasant to celebrate my cousin's 18th birthday at the casino. Sunday, finally get to relax. It's been a crazy past week, I'm looking forward to some down time.
Congrats! I hope you now know that your weekends, and really weeknights, will now consist of wedding planning.
The great thing is, she already told me that if I say "I don't have an opinion" or "I don't care" about something... she's cool with that. Plus the wedding probably won't happen for another 2 years, so we have time to save a little more dough. But thank you for your congratulations!
It's a trap!

But seriously, word to the wise, even if you don't care, act interested and provide some insight, but avoid being opinionated. Also, she's gonna freak out, you will probably fight a couple of times (usually over the cost of something and the guest list).
As BucksFanXC said, even if you don't care, pretend like you do. I have been planning my wedding for the last 8 months (Beach wedding in Traverse City in August). There are many aspects I don't care about as long as the wife-to-be is happy, but I still pretend to care for her sake. The conversation goes something like this:
Fiance: What do you think about the centerpieces?
Me: Which one do you like?
Fiance: The square ones with the purple flowers.
Me: Perfect, that's the one I like better too.
Congratulations! Time to start planning your MGoBachelorParty . . .
If my bachelor party can resemble this movie whatsoever (well, I could do without the whole getting stuck on a rooftop thing), I will be beyond happy.
First, I love these threads.
Secondly, I did all my hard manual labor last weekend, new storm door, poured a concrete step, landscaping, organize my garage. So this weekend I'm hosting family. My grandparents are coming up to meet my daughter for the first time, she's 3mos old this week. The new step will allow my grandmother to get in and out of the house more easily I hope. I always tell my wife, gotta get the chores done in summer because once football season starts my Saturdays are spoken for.
How did you do all that stuff with a 3-month old?? I can hardly find time to take the trash out!
My mom and stepdad come over, mom takes the baby for hours on end without getting frustrated when she cries, etc. and my stepdad helps me with my projects. It's win/win. Although my wife gets all jealous when the baby doesn't cry for my mom or gets pissed when my mom only tries to teach her to say Dadda. But you take the bad with the good I guess. How old is your little bundle?
She's just now 4 months old. And we have a 4-year old too. He's an energetic little dude and she likes to keep me up at night (I do the nights). We don't have family nearby so I'm jealous of you. We had a lot of company for help the first month and the sh-t got real.
Yeah, between my mom and her mom we have help nearby. I don't have to do nights because I work and my wife doesn't. But she is going to go back to work within the next month, so we'll see how that goes. She already sleeps better at nights, not quite through every night yet though.
*OP I'm totally jealous you had Chic Fil A
and do menial tasks I've fallen behind on.
...a gif!
How does that girl not smash her damn head on the floor?
Just found out that I'll be spending the next 4 years of my life (or next year at least) in South Quad in Honors housing!!! So pumped.
