OT: Friday Open Posbang (?) Thread: Whatcha Working On?
In case you've already read Brian's comprehensive front pager about receivers individual stats in recent years and are looking for some good, clean fun, here's an off-topic question for those "hard" at work this warm, sunny Friday afternoon:
Watcha working on there in the office (or wherever you are)?
Me, I'm sitting on what is possibly boringest** of boring conference calls about the policies and procedures of escheating unclaimed funds to the state.
(I should be honest: I'm actually reading the blog and watching Battlefield 3 videos on YouTube as the speaker drones on in the background.)
(**new word)
Andrew Luck's?
Larger. But I don't get a cut of this one, so I'd rather be working w/ Mr. Luck.
If so, I think it's time to break off from litigation hell and form our own business/firm
But I work with IP quite a bit. I'm in.
We probably need some clients, or at least patents to troll with?
No, but I just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Does that count?
Working on presentations for customers and correcting mistakes. Auto supply is fun.
The conference call is finished. And the moderator (no pun intended) had the nerve to send an e-survey for us to rate their presentation. HAHAHAHAHA. I should just send a transcript of this thread . . .
I'm sorry I asked for the pic.
That's an old pic (pre-op). She's the one on the left in red.
Doing top secret stuff accounting firms aren't supposed to tell anyone about. Prepping for an upcoming audit and finding any possible reason to think about sports on this lovely Friday.
I'm mourning the stepping-down by Pep Guardiola.
They'll still be strong next year, right?
That Chelsea tie was brutal to watch as a new Barca fan - you must have been punching dolphins on Tuesday evening . . .
they'll be strong... i like Tito Villanova, but any other coach after Guardiola is a step down.
I'd like to see us replace Biscuits with a guy like Marouane Felaini, someone who can be physical, win headers in the box, but still play the ground passing game. His hair is pretty dank too.
Do you think they could use another winger? I really like Torres (even though he stunk up the joint this year). Alexis has come on strong but it still seems as though Messi needs some help against teams that sit back like Chelsea and Real just did to them. Tello isn't going to get it done yet - he's too much of a one-trick pony and Cuenca is more of a feeder. Will David Villa make a big difference next year? He didn't do too much whenever I saw him play before he got injured and Pedro seems kind of the same to me - good but not great?
I doubt we go after another winger. In addition to those you mentioned (Alexis, Pedro, Tello, Cuenca, Villa) we also use Iniesta and Fabregas as wingers, Dani Alves and Adriano are essentially wingers AAAAND we have Ibrahim Affelay coming back from injury.
I see us picking up a center back, maybe a left back, maybe a taller striker ::cough:: Fernando Llorente ::cough:: but ultimately I want a guy like Yaya Toure back in the midfield again.
Llorente should already be versed in playing in the 4-3-3/3-4-3/3-3-1-3 or whatever you want to call it.
I'm a big fan of Cesc - he's had a few tremendous games recently. I've never seen Affelay play - is he a standout player?
What are they going to do with Keita? I heard Ray Hudson (who is clearly the best sportscaster in all of sports) mention that he might move on so he can be a starter somewhere?
I think they might end up dealing Villa to another club for $$.
I really like Cuenca and I think there is a need for his skill. Tello has the skill, it is just a question of him putting it all together. I don't like Pedro, but he has skill.
Not sure about Felaini, but his hair is awesome. Height doesn't mean much in soccer, but honestly Barca is too short all over the field. Once Pique went out with a concussion every corner was scary to watch.
Felaini is sick, man. Everton's best defender and probably their best attacking option aside from Jelavic.
Ever seen him play fior Belgium? he plays right behind the striker and does pretty darn well at it
I'm working on processing an El Gordo burrito that I had for lunch.
Though thanks for stopping before saying how far into the process you were.
Trying to convince myself I'm studying for a final on Monday, when I really am just coming back here every 10 minutes.
I'm reading a four year old People magazine in the men's room (only because I don't have a copy of the SI swimsuit edition handy). Somehow Rosenberg will manage to hose up even the swimsuit edition next year.
I am still a Cleveland Browns fan. Suffice to say, I don't have much hope for Brandon Weeden. Any MGoFootball Experts have any intel about him to make me feel better?
He's "mature".
(You sound like me in the midst of the Lions' Millen years. It sucked so hard to be a Lions fan, longingly looking back at the mostly mediocre Wayne Fontes tenure as the glory years.)
Trying to look busy for the next 20 minutes or so, then heading to the gym to blow off some steam on the racquetball court.
Also kind of worrying that I might wake up tomorrow morning in a ditch on the side of the road.
BF3 tonight? I'm addicted. I'll be online at around 2am if you're up.
Dang man! I'm old now and don't typically function very well that late. But hey, at least you're getting to experience the joys of child-rearing, right?
The wife's out of town this weekend though, so we'll see.
I play racquetball on Thursdays against two Turkish dudes. We play 3-man cutthroat. Last night, I got clocked in the head with Salim's racquet. I'm a little slow today.
Come to think about it, that's an awesome claim to fame. Every Thursday, I play 3-Man Cutthroat with two crazy Turks (I'll just neglect to mention that it's racquetball). I am the most interesting man in my Ph.D. program. "I don't always drink beer, but when I do, we talk about science."
I love racquetball. I play with some guys every Monday-Wednesday-Friday. I got absolutely clocked in the butt the other day though. Playing cutthroat, I was serving, I gave a guy a perfect kill shot from the back wall, so I took up the middle of the court and just got drilled. I've never had a bruise this big from getting hit with a racquetball.
I kind of feel like Tobias Funke with this post... except I realize how it sounds.
racquetball with an Ottoman!
or SUGAR, for short. Working on the propulsion system for this beast (on behalf of a certain Aviation company in Cincinnati):

This should be a weekly thread. I'm contemplating my exit as we speak. I've developed the nickname "Ninja" by my peers, because I come and go in complete silence. Hints for others: sneakers on Friday, and emergency exits/backdoor.
VERY EXCITE
I've finally done it! This post gives me 500 MGoPoints! One step closer to the big leagues!
Providing systems support to technologically inept accounting firms and currently struggling to make a CPA understand why using a consumer level Wi-Fi connection to connect to a Citrix Terminal server you access through internet is an absolutely horrible idea and the root of all his issues. Is it Friday Happy Hour time?
I should Bolivian you for that.
/kidding (but not really)
Although you can only see blue. Would you like me to send another picture showing where she is wearing maize? I think I can get her to strike the pose.
on LiveStats. Not good.
If she plays for a D1 in the midwest, I've probably either seen her play or watched on LiveStats.
now about to head to the girl's house to watch the Tigers and draft... and continue studying for endocrinology.
Heiko, if you're reading this, get out of med school while you still can. It never ends.
Nearly done with my third year. I keep hoping it'll get better and it keeps not getting better.
