Open Thread: NCAA Hockey Early Games (MSU vs Union 3pm) (Ferris vs Denver 5:30pm)
Have at it guys, first game has very little impact unless Michigan meets Union in the National Semi Finals.
The second game starts at 5:30 and the winner advances to face the winner of Michigan/Cornell.
Union vs MSU is on ESPNU but, www.espn3.com has all the coverage
PP for Union on a Sparty hook. Less than 2 minutes left. Queme Los Couches!!
That's probably gonna be the game. Yeesh. Best MSU can do now is 5-on-5 with an empty net.
I am amused at the thought of MSU basketball and hockey being eliminated within 24 hours of each other. /GLASS HOUSES NO JINX
Game ovah
3-1, 1:18 left
NOOOOOOOOO.
And a really dirty board from MSU after the play. Sheesh
Rocket from Simpson, 3-1 Union.
MSU needs to channel their BU-Miami 2009 here
Game Dutchmen. RIP Couches.
At first I read that as "Game Couches", which of course reminded me of
To which I reply:
See, I never just did things just to do them, c'mon I mean, what I'm gonna do just all of the sudden just jump up and grind my feet in somebody's couch like it's something to do? Come on, I got a little more sense than that. ...Yeah, I remember grinding my feet into Eddie's couch.
Puck drop is IMMINENT. Go Ferris
Mmmmmmmm. The sounds of 100 fans and crappy pep bands echoing throughout a cavernous, empty arena. Sounds like NCAA hockey regionals
They're just dressed like empty seats.
Hockey East refs in the Ferris-Denver game. That means about a 90 percent chance of WCHA refs for Michigan-Cornell, which is mostly good. Michigan doesn't do well with Hockey East refs.
It's pretty much guaranteed that Hockey East refs will do the final of the Green Bay regional tomorrow, because Green Bay is the only regional without a Hockey East team.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm about ready to puke over here. Too much anxiety about this game.
ESPNU needs to stop showing that damn Minnesota Duluth goal every commercial break.
I've accepted the fact that it will be played incessantly. Especially, during Michigan games
It's better than those Pitbull commercials.
Ferris looks pretty good, but obviously a step down in skill. They'll have to play a tight, defensive game to win. If it opens up and teams get lots of shots / lots of PP chances, Ferris will almost certainly lose
We'll see what they can do here
Ferris power play looking pretty good.
Literally about a few dozen people in the arena for this game right now. Luv ur logic, NCAA.
1-0 Ferris!
Huge saves by Taylor Nelson.
Who / how was the first goal scored in the Miami-UML game? Just turned it on
UML took a shot of the crossbar, the rebound went in off a body. After review it was upheld. UML actually scored again, then after review they took it away for goaltender interference. UML is outplaying Miami, Smith and Czarnik have been pretty quiet.
I'm surprised Miami isn't winning 4-0 already. Miami just seems to be a bad tourney team sometimes. Seems like they usually lose in inexplicable loses / chokes / breakdowns / blowouts
Miami is lucky to not be down 3-0 UMass Lowell had one goal disallowed already, and has been dominating Miami
After 40 Ferris still leads 1-0
Make that 2-0 UML with a shorty, Czarnik is on the scoresheet, turnover at the UML blueline, lead to a breakaway goal. Knapp looks shaky to say the least
That was a really bad pass on that one. Miami is looking bad. I almost feel bad bc a good friend of mine is a Miami fan and I can feel has NCAA-tourney-pain
Ferris goal. Up 2-0 now in the 3rd
ESPN3 is definitely your friend if you've got it. I'm watching the Ferris St game on my TV with my Xbox and I'll get the Michigan game if Miami runs over.
3-0 UML. This feels like a classic miami playoff game.
Ferris only up 2-1 with 10:51 left in the game
who wins the FSU/Denver game at this point, I just want it to end in regulation. My reasons for this are two-fold:
1. I'm already way too anxious for the Michigan/Cornell game and if I have to wait longer for it, I might explode.
2. Whoever wins the late game, I want them to have more time for rest before the game tomorrow.
2. Whoever wins the late game, I want them to have more time for rest before the game tomorrow. What do you mean? You mean between us and Cornell?
the late game tonight is between Michigan and Cornell. I would have just said something about "more rest for Michigan", but that's tempting the hockey gods WAY too far, I think.
That Denver-Ferris State game is a good'un. They should switch over.
Go Blue!
DU's goalie is pulled w 2:17 left
Ferris iced it w 57.2 left
