Michigan vs OSU Open Thread
Well here we go. 20 minutes till tip-off, playing for a shot against MSU for our first (non-vacated) BTT final/Championship BEAT OHIO
I'm absolutely heartbroken. Just changed into sweats and am going to bed.
meh i would want Michigan to do the same thing if we were up
That was my thought, too. We ALLLLL want to blow Ohio State out by 50 each game, football or basketball. We'd love to see passes bombed down the field and the points keep racking up on our side, just like we'd like to see the bball players drunking and making exciting shots. It's OSU fergodsakes. We'd all be cheering the players for humiliating them. This is nothing more than the other side of the coin. It'll pass.
Nice steal there at the end, got me chuckling.
Kudos to the reserves for scrapping at the end. They took advantage of their extended PT.
Just not our day today. We can benefit from a day of rest tomorrow and get our legs back for next week.
He isn't that tall when you consider that he plays the 5 position for us.. Both Smot and McClimans are taller than Morgan.
I'm with you. I hate bagging on a guy who plays his heart out, but he just can't get it done. No post skills, not a great rebounder, weak with the ball, and can't finish unless he's wide open. He does run the floor really well, but there is way more to post play than that.
So who should play in his place? McLimans? Christian? We're not loaded with post depth at the moment.
There are times when he knows he needs to turn it up and does so. There are more times, like the past couple games, where he is too passive a player. I, personally don't expect him to be a Sullinger, nobody does, but he doesn't have to be. When he's pumped up and rolling he is the perfect big man for Michigan, I mean that; it just doesn't happen often enough.
(Note: I want to say he turned it up for the Ohio game two weeks ago, but primarily another game not too much earlier than that game, he played awesome and was a perfect fit for the offense)
Yup, we should find a replacement for him. Maybe we can get a top 20 recruit to take his spot!
hope it was that craft holds and hand checks every single time ... oh yeah that good defense huh.
Go Blue!
outside of Morgan. If he is has an off day, we are pretty much screwed. McGary, GR3 and Stauskas please hurry.
Sullinger is good, but he looks and acts like a bitch. He won't make it more than 3 seasons in the NBA. We were absolutely dominated today, I wish we would have just put Christian in more, I think he can play defense very well. MSU v. OSU will be good game, but Ohio State should pull away in the end. Hopefully we can get our stuff cleaned up before the Tournament. Hardaway is still inconsistent, doesn't get to the hole enough. Burke came down to earth, didn't to a good job distributing today when he wasn't scoring. He's only a freshman and will get so much better as he grows. Smot doesn't have great body control and gets frustrated easily and gets silly fouls. Morgan airballed a 4 foot jumper, sigh. Vogrich, Novak and Douglass all have to make more shots, but you can tell they all gave 100% effort.
In the coming years, we won't get dominated and outsized in Big Ten Games. This loss is not on Beilein, as I'm sure people will say - idiots. The only reason we made it to this game is because of the fantastic play he drew up against minnesota that gave Smot a wide open 3 that tied the game.
I give them some credit but we played BY FAR our worst game of the season. Learn from this and make sure it doesnt happen again in the NCAA tournament. That is all.
Don't be that guy. Not today. It was not the refs who did this, we were never in this one plain and simple.
I like how Corey Person ended up being the team's 3rd leading scorer while only playing 3 minutes.
Burke with 5, Smotrycz with 2, Morgan with 3. That kind of output just won't win games.
Maybe we could beat one of these teams
we didn't even give ourselves a chance today
carry a team only so far. this team is getting much need experience. will be happy to see Mich make it to the sweet 16, but not too sure. looking forward to selection sunday.
I was playing in a dart tournament and A) didn't have to listen to Jim Nantz, and B) not have to endure that horrific game in its entirety.
Just kidding, we just aren't big and athletic enough yet - more help coming next year - still think that these boys can make some noise in the tourney - not sure they can shock the world, but you never know.
