LOL I knew someone would create this thread after seeing that in TV. Kind of pointless, but no foul.

LOLOL knew somebody would create this post after seeing this thread. 100% pointless, but it's cool bro.

LOLOLOL knew somebody would comment on the post that was created after someone created this thread. 1000% pointless, and it's still cool bro. ...and there's a hole in the bottom of the sea.

Wow, guys. Can we just leave it at that? Or is some other douche going to come in and leave a condescending remark about how pointless the last post was?

Denard is made of dilithium?

Carl just confirmed for the world what we already know. Bork Bork Bork

Who would win in a race with an ice surface next to a field turf surface, Carl or Denard?

January 28th, 2012 at 8:07 PM ^
a very short race? like 30 meters or something? Hockey advantage comes once momentum is built, so Denard could maybe have a chance if it was short enough.
January 28th, 2012 at 10:37 PM ^
Even 30 meters wouldn't be close. My guess is by at least the 5 meter mark Hagelin would be ahead. Denard might have a faster first step or two but the sheer power you can get on a single skating stride is so much more than you can get in a single step.
January 28th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
Denard would need am enormous head start to make it fair. That can't be true! [rends clothes and gnashes teeth]
January 29th, 2012 at 12:34 AM ^
Denard actually averages a faster speed in ~60m (6.81s/60m) than Hagelin (7.963/57m). The big difference is that Denard is probably at 80% of his top speed in 60m, Hagelin is nowhere near that. Like the guy below me said, in a short enough race, Denard could pull off a win, but in general skating is much, much faster than running.
January 29th, 2012 at 2:25 AM ^
Lower friction coefficient would pay huge dividends as the length of the race is extended. Plus you keep all the momentum you put on your skates as the race continues.
January 29th, 2012 at 9:25 AM ^
Actually, Hagelin's time there isn't what I thought; I thought they were just racing goal line to goal line, which wasn't the case. Hagelin went ~80m and that includes turns, so that should give an idea just how unfair a race like that would be.
Maize and Blue 4 Life, that's interesting; I would have thought differently, but then again they never let me near sprints in track practice, so what do I know.
January 29th, 2012 at 7:57 AM ^
should be at top speed within his 60m. According to Jimson Lee at SpeedEndurance.com most world class 100 meter men reach their top speed within 50-60 meters. Women reach their top end speed a bit earlier, so more of their race is speed endurance. The only question would be if Denard would be considered a world class 100m man which I feel he could be if he was concentrating on track.
January 28th, 2012 at 8:27 PM ^
This race would only be interesting if Hagelin was running on the turf and Denard was on skates.

I was yelling GO GO GO! during Hagelin's second race.
He fast. He really fast.
